  1. It's a good thing that the bird hit the center of the windshield instead of the driver's side at 155mph!
  2. LOL Pete you know I almost put that in my last post. It was going to be something like "I kill every thread I post in except the pics of wives and girlfriends thread." Too funny
  3. Amen brother. It's kinda like the SOP at work. There are tons of rules and guidlines on how to do your job in that book but if you live by the common sense rules then usually you will be ok. Lol, BillZ260, I have been thinking about changing my name to "Thread Killer" because it seems like when I post in a thread it usually dies Uhhh we will see what happens here....See yall at SEZ 8!
  4. I have this company (Showcar body parts) on my "black list" for some reason but looking through my notes I cannot see where I ever tried to order anything from them. I may have seen a post on here a while back warning against using them. However, that being said I would most deffinately stay away from a company called autobodypartsonline. I have first hand miserable experience with this company.
  5. Mine is gone completely. I then placed a small section of rubber fuel line onto the existing nipple on the tank and clamped a large bolt into the end of that,...Done! No problems and no leaks. I also closed off the return line to the tank and I am using a Carter electric pump with just the one original line up to my Edelbrock carb. No fuel starvation problems at all here The car never misses a beat and has been running now for close to a year of more (I loose track of time). Also no cannister, it is history.
  6. Paz, no I am not sure lol that is why I have asked the question "is there a way to find out what rear end gear I have by looking at the numbers on the outside of the rearend housing." My guess is that I have a different drive gear than I am supposed to have on the tail shaft of the tranny. I will get it right though and when I do I will update the thread to tell what I did, I promise
  7. Do not know anything about that but i would say no. The transmission came from a full size chevy or GMC van.
  8. Because anything above 39 teeth which is the brown gear I purchased requires a different housing according to the TCI website. http://www.tciauto.com/tech_info/speedo_gears.htm According to their calculator I need a 43 tooth driven gear
  9. Mike, The plastic gear was only about $6 so no biggie. I think that the housing is going to run somewhere between $40 and $50. I will have to go looking again on my next off days.
  10. Mine isn't glued in place yet but it will be soon!

  12. Update: I purchased the brown plastic 39 tooth “driven gear†from Chevrolet and installed it onto my transmission yesterday. However, it seems the odometer is still way off. Today I went for a ride and came upon an old pickup truck towing a homemade trailer full of trash. According to my speedometer, we were going 95mph. We were probably only going about 50 to 55mph at the most. The driven gear that I took out of my 700R4 was the blue one with 38 teeth. The brown driven gear only has one more tooth than did the blue gear so there in lies my problem. I am wondering now what size the drive gear is on the tail shaft of the transmission. I used a calculator on a transmission web site that took into account my rear end gearing (3.545) and tire size and it suggested that I use a 43 tooth driven gear and a 15-tooth drive gear to get my speedometer right. I guess that means that I will have to get the other housing from Chevy if they even have a 43 tooth driven gear. Oh well back to the drawing board.
  13. If I am not mistaken, the TH350 is a little shorter than the 700R4 so you would have to have the drive shaft shortened a little. That is not that big of a deal to have done. If you have a drive shaft business close by they can custom make you a drive shaft from scratch that will be cheaper than a shaft from lets say MSA. I found out this the hard way by buying the drive shaft that MSA sells that is supposed to be “bolt on.†It was not of course and I had to take it to the drive shaft shop to be shortened. The guy there asked me what I paid for the MSA drive shaft and when I told him, he laughed. In addition, I think that the TH350 mount will work with the 700R4 if I remember correctly. Here is a helpful link for the 700R4 transmission and others: http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com I hope this info helped you out a little.
  14. You can get a used 700R4 from a salvage yard cheap. Mine cost $325, just make sure you ask them for the correct year and they will hook you up. By the way, the Hybrid Bible, (JTR Manual) warns against the 350 tranny because of the higher RPM’s on the highway. “If you decide to use a Turbo-350 or Turbo-400 transmission, you will realize the mistake you made within 5 minutes on the freeway.†JTR Manual page 4-1, Seventh Edition
  15. The only wires that I used for my aftermarket tach was the solid green wire that went to the factory gauge's ignition connection point. I hooked that up to 12+ connection on my Autometer. I also used the factory (black) ground wire for my new gauge. For the signal wire I simply ran a wire from the back of the new tach through the firewall to the HEI distributor tach connection. Mine works fine. The factory tach is long gone! By the way my car is a 280 instead of a 240 but I hope this helps you out.
  16. Mike I was about to say the same thing. I have the JTR radiator and the two speed Taurus fan and it is the one pictured in the bottem photo not the one on top. The two work great together.
  17. I'm telling ya I really want to be there and I have the wife all excited and making plans to attend, (with me of course). I printed out the flyer and have it on my cork board in the office here so god willing I will make a showing this time around.
  18. I would imagine going to work for the Oakland Police Department would be like going to work for the Atlanta P.D. and I would not think of going there for any amount of money. Remember, money is not everything. I recently went back to a 42k a year police department (not including overtime) after leaving to go to a larger and better paying department (over 60k per year and a take home car). It was the first time in my career that I did anything for money and it was a big mistake. Law enforcement is what you make it. I am a Sergeant at my department and have been doing this for about 16 years now. I have had a lot of fun along the way. This job gives you a lot of freedom. You are not cooped up inside some building and you get to make your own decisions and be your own boss, for the most part. You have a boatload of discretion at your disposal. In addition, while you are putting your life on the line every day, so are taxi drivers, convenience store clerks, the American Soldier, mineworkers, mechanics etc… Since I have been in law enforcement a lot of folks have lost their lives in and around my hometown while on the job, but none of them have been police officers. For example, the last officer killed in the line of duty at my former and first department (Rome P.D.) was in 1977. He was shot while investigating a hit and run accident. The department I work for now has not had an officer die in the line of duty since the 1950’s. The department is located in the Metro Atlanta area! He was killed in a car accident while attempting to catch up to a fleeing motorist in a stolen car. Now do not get me wrong, I am not saying that the job is all safe and cozy and that a police officer’s family should not worry about them. They should. Police officers die in the line of duty every day around this country and abroad. Things happen. However, a person should not get bent out of shape thinking that the job is too dangerous to perform. If a person is that worried about the danger the job can bring, then maybe another line of work would be better suited for them. You do not see me working on a crab boat (dangerous catch). Those guys are insane lol. Now let me explain something about the “stressfulness of the job†that most people get wrong. Most of your stress, about 99.9 percent of it, will come from the department itself. The public or job environment has little to do with your stress level. However, upper management does. You know, those old police officers who now sit behind a desk and, for the most part, have forgotten what its like to be a beat cop. Those are the most stressful people you will deal with on a day-to-day basis. Something happens to a cop when they no longer walk or drive the beat. They become political and see things differently. That is where most of my stress comes from, and not from the public or because my job is so dangerous. Sorry if this rambled on too long. I say if you want to be a police officer, go for it, but listen to the others also. Mike is right about “being a cop these days†so take heed. The others have valid points as well. This is just my two cents worth of advise from a veteran cop. Take it for what its worth.
  19. Those things are not Panasports. They look like the new cheaper look-a-likes called Fast Forward or Rewinds. MSA and Victoria British sell them. For a comparison a set of those wheels would cost you about $499 from MSA and the true Panasports $1,099. Trust me on that last price...I found out the hard way Actually I just looked at them again. They could possibly be Panasports. It is hard to tell from the pics and the missing center caps.
  20. Hey guys gonna post a quick one. There is a z on pinks right now and they are callin themselves "team hybrid z" Sorry if this is old news. Be back when the show is over.
  21. Remember the commercial slogans in the 70's for this car. "Triumph TR-7, the shape of things to come."
