  1. the 10067353 is a garbage motor. for a couple of hundred dollars more you can get the GMPP 290hp 4 bolt main motor. ill post the part number when i get back to work.
  2. there was a guy at the Z-car nationals that had a cad engine punched to 512 cid. but that was like 2 years ago.
  3. in CA it does have to have a visual and tail-pipe test. depending on your area it may or may not be tested on a dyno. to put a 350 in it legally it will have to come from probably a corvette that is the same year or newer and you will have to swap ALL of the smog equipment and have it passed by a state referee. with that said if you intend to pay for an illegal smog for the rest of the life of the car-you can do whatever you want. gotta love california.
  4. i work at a GM/Nissan dealer in SoCal and a couple of our mechanics make over 100K a year. adn we start our GM mechanics out at about 19 per hour flag and Nissan around 23 per hour flag
  5. the california government is getting to the point where it is killing the state. for one our state is HUGE and unlike most states its not uncommon for soem to commute 100 miles one way for work. there is a reason why california has one of the mopst complex freeway systems in the world we depend on it. taxing the miles we drive, or taxing the gas is starting to overhwelm the working class.
  6. a note on the duramax, that thing is heavy. i mean the long block weighs way more than a fully dressed 454, i had to scrap one at work and it took 3 of us to move it
  7. the HUGE number guys are either dyno queens or drag racers. auto crossers keep the power down because they are on and off the throttle all the time.
  8. one day my hybrid will run and that will be a good day
  9. What's a "pedistol"? Actually Top Gear are pretty hard on any car they don't like' date=' including many from the UK. You'll often see a difference of opinion amongst the presenters too. What you don't seem to understand is that Top Gear has gradually become more and more of a [i'] comedy [/i] entertainment show based around Clarkson's personality than anything else. They concentrate on making the show look good, and producing nice bite-size chunks that can be networked out around the world ( netting the production company a nice profit ) and turned into DVD and Video sales. They also want you to discuss it; it gives them free advertising. It's working isn't it? What ( serious? ) motoring-related entertainment shows along the lines of Top Gear do you have in the USA? Does any USA-based show give serious critique to new cars, or are they too scared to offend their advertisers? I know there are serious motoring magazines in the US, but I have not heard of any TV. Oh, and do you have any other good cars besides the Corvette? I'm all ears........... car and driver TV horsepower TV (sometimes has serious car reviews) motortrend hell we have entire TV stations for stuff like this (Speed Channel) and there are others

  13. thanks--someone finally answered my question!!
  14. not to hijack the thread or anything but i want to know if using say and FMU, then routing would be fuel pump-fuel filter-fuel rail-stock fpr-to FMU-then back to tank, is this correct?? and my second question is can you run the same vacuum line to both with a T or do they need seperate ones from different lines al together??
  15. couldnt you just remove the block off plate from the side of the head up at the timing chain sprocket?? i f i remember correctly my n47 n42 and p90 heads all have that block off plate. but otherwise just use a low pressure electric fuel pump
  16. maybe check stillen or MSA for pipe kits.
  17. ive seen it used on a 76 NA and it made a lot of difference, it was a 75 dry shot
  18. why didnt you pass?? did you fail for NOx CO or hydrocarbons (HC) telling us that will help us help you
  19. the rb26 in the z32 has been done but you have to use the trans from a GTS-T which is only a 5-spd, you need this cause its a RWD tranny and the GT-R is AWD unless you wanna do one helluva conversion
  20. my friends 85 has an oil cooled turbo too. i thought they didnt add water cooling till 86
  21. cool site but it is kinda out dated and they are way off on some of the honda stuff, but the nissan section was informative
  22. well i was kinda disappointed by the show this year. granted there were a ton of hybrids, however a lot of people from last year didnt make it this year. the LZ24 powered 510 with the t-72 turbo, the RB26 powered 240 and some others that i was looking forward to seeing, but still a great show nonetheless. there were so many TT's it was incredible along with a TT 350 and a few supercharged 350's. also all of the LT1 hybridz looked really nice.
  23. chevy 1500 all the way, i work for GM and i have driven quite a few chevys and GMC's as well as used fords and dodges on our lot and the silverado is by far the best for the buck. get at least the 5.3, you dont have to spring for the 6.0 but dont get the 4.8
  24. i have a flange that i was going to use but it looks like with all the turning and repositioning it all looks to fit with out the spacer and im going to run a blanket on the manifold and unless some tells me otheriwse ill call it good and see what happens
  25. well i kinda got it sit right but i will need serious custom piping to get it to work now, the biggest problem was the wastegat actuator, now that, that is taken care of it should be ok
