  1. my block is an 81 L28ET that had the stock oil cooler. i ditched the adapter for now and am just running the oil filter directly to the block. are there any problems i might have with oil flow?
  2. wasnt sure if it was 5/16 or 3/8.
  3. can anyone tell me the size of the stock rubber feed lines to and from the fuel filter on an 77 L28E?
  4. are you running the same 4 by 114 pattern as stock? and what size wheel are you running with that offset?
  5. WOW where in the high desert was this? crime up here is gettin rediculous.
  6. has anyone used the 4 lug to 5 lug adapters to broaden the selection of rims? offset and the 4 lug pattern seems to be a major retriction finding wheels for my new 77. as far as wheels go im not looking for anything to large or exotic just a nice 16 or 17 that doesnt need to be very wide just something to make the car a roller at this point. any help on the subject is appreciated. i didnt find too much in search to my sepecific question so if its there and i missed it i appologize.
  7. my name is steve and im in apple valley, california. aka the desert. been into zcars for years and try to always attend the MSA show. met a few people from the boards over the last 10 years or so that i have been into zcars. havent been on the boards in a while and just got my back interest in the zcar. i had a 76 for years and found frame damage on it. it had also been in a wreck on the body work was beyond my skill level or pocket book. my neighbor agreed to take that one off my hands and will turn it into a v8 bracket racer. i hate getting rid of it but its going to a good home and i will be able to see it progress. plus we added a stipulation that if he no longer wants it i get it back. well to feed the need i picked up a 77 5 speed with a straight frame and body. no rust that i can see. only spot im worried about is where the antenna was. there is surface rust on the suspension and every bushing will need to be replaced, but that is all do-able. car was not running when i got it and looks to have had a blown head gasket. engine is already yanked and the built motor i had for the 76 is already bolted in.
  8. might have been mentioned before-but in an episode of that 70's show where eric has to get a job at fatso burger is a clean 240z light blue right outside the restaurant,
  9. i guess what im really gettin at is that im doing an engine swap on an altima and i just want to make sure i didnt get stuck with a truck or 240 motor.
  10. is there a way to tell these two apart or are they the same and the mounts are interchangeable? i know the vq's differ but never got into a KA.
  11. lookin for advice on a welder to get me started with Mig welding. i had some experience with stick welding a few years ago but not a whole lot. really i want something that will be versatile but not overboard. help me out if you can guys!
  12. any wiring issues or have you not got that far yet?
  13. best thing to do is locate the smog referee in your area and give him a call.
  14. its only legal within the the same family ie-light duty truck to light duty truck, not car to truck or vice versa. although more expensive you would be better off with the LS1 if you want it legal.
  15. this is the email joke that was attached with that pic
  16. unless there is damage due to other issues an L6 should last 200-250k without a rebuild. same goes for an sbc. somethings to think about though especially in the gen3 sbc's. the wristpins in the 6.0's are weak from the factory so premature enging failure is possible. GM put out a fix for that. 5.3's and 4.8's had valvetrain issues which could damage them and also cause premature engine failure. 4.3 v6's which are based off of the small block had some crankshaft issues in the mid-late 90's which will cause engine failure. aside from these basic issues sbc's should last a very long time.
  17. mine got misplaced so i went junkyard hunting. the only difference i found was if the unit mounted vertically from the top of the tank or from the side of the tank. mine was a side mount and trying to find one was a bitch.
  18. the guy in the lotus with the mowhawk irked me to no end. i was happy to see them get eliminated.
  19. 95 honda del sol (dont laugh) that little car got me all over socal for 3 years. its really just a sentimental thing really. if i can find it i dont care what shape its in (minus fire, or being totalled).
  20. its a 1995 so its the full 17-digit vin. this was the first car i ever bought and i only bought cause the Z wasnt relaible. ive kicked myself for gettin rid of it for the last 4 years. im sure it ended up wholesaled to mexico or something but it would be cool to know, and buy it back if i can find it.
  21. If you have the vin to a car, is there anyway to find out where the car is and who owns it? I had heard a while a go (not from a relaible source) that you can write to the CA DMV and they can tell you if the car is in the state and then contact the current owner and let the current owner decide if they want to call you back
