  1. Does the car thats attached to it go with it? I'm on my way with the flatbed
  2. It was a new part, but I am think I bought it at autozone. I did compare it to the sensor I bought from DIY autotune and they are different thermocouples in the end. So I think it was poor quality autozone part, but I am not 100% sure.
  3. Okay, this is the first time one of my cars running megasquirt has developed an EFI system problem. It is my Talon and it hasn't been idling correctly and using too much gas. Turns out the IAT sensor broke. It worked for around 12K miles. I put in a new one and all is good. Megatune showed a constant -40 degrees.
  4. Have you tried to run two pumps in parallel before? Another thing I was contemplating was running two of the Master/Airtex E2000 pumps. They are $75 are flow 30-40 gallons per hour each according to some info I dug up. Even on the low end they would give me what I need. The A1000 pump is $300 so that could save me quite a bit. Right now it would be easy for me to run two hard lines up to my firewall, then Y into a single 1/2 inch line right at my fuel rail.
  5. I Believe Ultra Megasquirt will have a sequential option. But who knows when it will really hit the market. The high resolution for big injectors is certainly worth it, I can attest after running 850cc injectors on my 2.0l Talon. I do not have the high resolution and idle surges most of the time.
  6. Thanks, I'll check into that. This is for my 454 with supercharger so am I pretty sure it is going to make the 600hp mark. Because of that I want to make sure I have the room like you say.
  7. Do you guys have any suggestions in this area. I see several on summit's site, but I am curious if the still flow 60gal/hr at 50psi. Most are rated at 100psi for their flow it seems. Does that sound correct? I need to support at least 600hp.
  8. Out of the 5 megasquirt installs we did last year there was one that never functioned correctly (Chris's car), some of you probably remember the description. Resets all the time in the beginning, tried several noise filters at alternator, by MS, by coil, etc. Tried not hooking up alternator. All the usual stuff that everyone sees and tries with reset problems. In the end it seemed like moving the MS box helped some. Well, here is what my friend (Mike) found yesterday.... Mike took back the suspect MS box and decided to check it for cracked solder joints, because the history of the resets shows that they come and go with no reason. Sometimes Chris can drive the car for months with no problem (it is his daily driver), other times it resets several times in one day. When Mike popped open the case last night he found the processor was not plugged into the socket, one whole side was hanging out and just barely making contact enough to work sometimes. We are sure that the processor has been in this state every since the unit was built (built by Mike, not DIY or anyone like that). Anyway we are waiting for the updates now, but it may take several months to verify no resets every happen again. If they do, the next thing we are going to do is re-flow all solder joints, because it was soldered by him and was his first solder job. The processor not being seated in the socket correctly seems to be the cause of this one, you guys also be careful that one or two pins don't bend under the processor when it is seated, I have seen that before. At this time the only conclusion I can draw is that the other 4 units I built work fine to this day, I have had professional instruction with soldering and have been doing it for 10 years in my various hobbies. The one unit that Mike assembled is suffering reset problems. I guess the moral of the story is to have DIY or someone else build your MS unit if you are not sure you can do a good job soldering and assembling the other parts of the unit, seating the processor These resetting problems are so frustrating that it is not worth saving the money to assemble yourself.
  9. nah, its mostly self imposed so I can clear my mind. Like that will happen. Now that Phil got sucked in we'll give him a trial by fire, ha ha
  10. bumping after 4 hours, yeah you should probably re-evaluate using megasquirt. I would say you don't have the patience for it. Start training yourself to accept that it might take days, weeks or possibly months to get megasquirt installed and working depending on your level of knowledge and the luck you have with MS.
  11. Install an in dash radio and see if it also suffers from noise. Might give you something cheaper than a scope to use for troubleshooting, and most likely your noise is in the audible range. Just something easy. Otherwise sell the MS boxes to someone else and use the money to buy a different standalone. I would borrow an ECU from someone else, like an SDS if its possible and make sure it will work on the car.
  12. I thought MS1 with MSnS_Extra on v3.0 board has ignition with no mods. v3.0 board already has the VB921 to drive a coil.
  13. I am really close to having the EDIS8 on my supercharged 454. Just didn't want to use those Ford high tension plugs. If anyone does want to use those I have two Ford four post coils
  14. Just wanted to let you guys know I will be out from Dec 15th to Jan 8th. So if you don't get replies you won't think I'm stuck up or something I should pop in once in a while, but I'm not sure. Happy Holidays to everyone and I'll see you next year. Bryan
  15. Ron, did you use the actual EDIS module to trigger the coil pack or did you use Megasquirt itself to directly fire the coil pack through the VB921 transistor?
  16. Has anyone used neon style 4 post coil packs for an EDIS setup? Did it require a single wire to trigger all 4 or 2 wires, each firing 2 posts?
  17. If his comment was a sarcastic one it was inappropriate. We have all been overwhelmed and asked a lot of questions at some. We always need to remember what it was like when we started and use a nicer approach with new people. That keeps everyone interested in the hobby and its all about having fun. Good luck with the rest of your install. I have made sarcastic comments also, I am working on that.
  18. I went to a karate school 10 years ago for a while. Now I am studying in the area of Jeet Kune Do with my son. We train 5 nights a week and usually more. It is a lot of fun and anyone familiar with this will know that it can include pieces of every martial art and fighting type. Right now we are concentrating on kung fu, chin na, kickboxing, and some kenpo. I am debating on buying the definitive Dan Inosanto collection on DVD to keep us busy for the next couple years. Good to see some other people also share interests in the martial arts.
  19. yeah, you have four different pedal speed BINs for TPS accel enrichment. So the slowest one of the four needs to be slower (at least that is the theoretical answer).
  20. this is what I am running for half the price as the one you listed, does not have a gauge for readout, I am using the laptop for that and a $55 gauge I bought with a digital readout. http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/innovate-digital-wideband-controller-with-sensor-p-41.html
  21. I'll second the wideband computer and sensor. With it I was able to install MSnS_Extra in the talon and then tune in 30 minutes of driving covering all load points in the VE map. I am still running that same tune 11K miles later and have been running at 18psi. AFR's are steady where I want them and I couldn't even imagine running 18psi without a wideband or pyrometer or local shop tuning.
  22. also, just because I never know for sure what code version people might use, there was the old error that required -9 to be entered instead of -10 (for fixed angle to cause the switch back to the table for spark values). But that was in the older MSnS_Extra versions like 021u or something.
  23. This is all true, that is why when you look into an 83 280zx distributor you will notice that the rotor arm has a "wide" wiper to allow more adjustment to be made by a computer, and this also allows the trigger angle to be changed more than a non-efi distributor without spark jumping posts.
