  1. The Mighty Zed....play on the fact that when I got it the L28 was clapped out and anything BUT mighty...couldn't keep up with our Matrix station wagon LOL...and Zed because I work in the States and hang out on these forums where most of the members are Americans and everyone calls these Zee cars...when they are really ZED cars!! haha My wife has various names for it: POS, bucket of bolts, things along that line....she's always coming up with some witty way of saying she hates the car...oh well.
  2. Well, I guess I thought the Wolf V500 system was pretty good because I just bought one. Comes with a dashboard tuner, which I'm kinda excited about. Member posted on this thread (I think) about the problems he was having with the EMS on an RB motor, emailed him, now the problem child is mine. LOL
  3. Atta boy jeffer, way to step up to the plate. I'm definitely interested in the buy.
  4. 10 psi is safe. More than that you're taking a risk. I just plugged off the pop off valve. Do a search, all this has been covered many times before.
  5. Midnitz, I'm having Lonewolf Performance port the intake manifold. They also offer a coating service. Should I have them coat the interior of the manifold while they have it apart or is this something I can do afterward? Per your comments above, I plan to coat the exhaust manifold myself. The T3/T4 turbo I recently bought from a member is supposedly coated already, internally I assume, since there is no coating visible on the outside. Should I coat the outside as well?
  6. Hugh, Im buying what appears to be a V500 v1 and I will be installing an LC-1. In fact, Bo will be helping (doing!) the install next month. Is the upgrade to v2 a hardware or software upgrade?
  7. Check this out http://www.geocities.com/~z-car/specs/
  8. Hmmm, I checked the prices on Techline's web site and they seemed pretty reasonable. Time for more research....
  9. I asked the same question of DYIAutotune and this is the list they sent me, complete with pricing (2007): >> MS130-C $330 Assembled Megasquirt-I with V3.0 PCB >> MOD_130IGBT1: Single Ignition Output through IGBT (VB921) $20 >> MSStim22-C $69 Assembled Stimulator >> MSHarness $65 12' wiring harness >> IATwPiggy $21 IAT Sensor >> 38NPT-Bung_S $8 Bung for mounting IAT sensor (steel weld on, or >> JB-Weld on) >> TuneCable $6 6' DB9 tuning cable >> USB-2920 $20 (Only needed if your laptop doesn’t have a true >> DB9 port) >> Subtotal without wideband-- $539 Hope that helps. Mark
  10. Timely stuff, I'm doing the front brakes for MSA and now I know the correct method for breaking them in. Thanks!
  11. BTW guys, have decided to have Lonewolf port the intake manifold. For $350 the price was right. I've got so much other work to do that porting it myself just isn't practical.
  12. Midnitz, would you bother with Techline's DIY coatings? I may have access to a kiln to cure it....would that help or just not necessary? I think Technline's coatings started around $30, so doesn't seem like much expense or trouble to coat the manifolds. Would it make more sense to coat the exhaust rather than the intake? Keep the heat down?
  13. You did the right thing. Thanks for the warning, won't be buying anything from that guy. Interesting that he is so worried about negative feeback...I don't buy much on eBay and always wondered if the feedback system was of much value. It didn't make him a good vendor, but shows that people pay attention to feedback.
  14. Glad no one was hurt. 8 years ago I was driving on a busy street doing around 40 mph and all of a sudden this water balloon comes flying in my open sun roof and nails me on the side of the head. Imagine what that felt like at that speed! Peeled around the corner, caught the little buggers, who were crapping their pants. Yelled for about 5 minutes and then let them go...probably should have called the cops, maybe they went right back to the same thing the next night, since there weren't any consequences. Good thing the kids in your situation were charged.
  15. Never. Ever. Last year I drove the car 25,000 miles, this year should be closer to 35,000. I've never had a car that is so much fun and just a blast to be behind the wheel. In fact, my wife begged me to buy a 350z and after a test drive I turned her down. Who needs a 300 hp baralounger? My car is my baby, I'd never give her up.
  16. By the time you fart around with a home made controller and pay for parts, you can buy a controller from http://www.3barracing.com/product_6.htm these guys for $47. Works for me. We plugged off the pop off valve, lots of people do, no problems yet.
  17. Trumpet, thanks, but it looks better in the pics...passes the 10' test, that's it. I taped the chrome but next time I'll take it off. In fact, this summer I'll start painting it black...will take the chrome off and have it powder coated black. Trying to decide if I should sand blast the white Rustoleum off or just paint over it. Leaning toward blasting it....then plan to buy a decent compressor and gun and spray. Govt is changing the rules here in Alberta, trying to put small paint shops and DIY guys out of business...but I should be ok spraying Rustoleum.
  18. This is my first attempt to post pics...hope it works. Hope you can see the orange peel in the pics. http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk43/Calgary280zt/280z/?action=view&current=DSC04366.jpg http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk43/Calgary280zt/280z/?action=view&current=DSC04360.jpg http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk43/Calgary280zt/280z/?action=view&current=DSC03939.jpg
  19. Midnitz, valve lift for intake at 209 cfm is .600. At .500 it flowed 201 and at .400 it flowed 198. On exhaust, I'm a bit of a noob and not sure how to read the data sheet. I have no idea what the grind is on the cam. Rebello chose the cam for the PO when they first worked on the head 4-5 years ago. My plan was to get everything installed, see how it runs, then down the road get a custom cam ground. Guess I better file away that data sheet where I can find it again....
  20. My name is Mark and my wife hates my Z!!! Too loud, too uncomfortable, too smelly...sigh, there's no pleasing her. Good thing she's a wonderful woman and I love her dearly....
  21. Bo's point, as usual, is right on the $$. If you want quality, take his advice. If you're like me, cheap and need something to tide you over until you can afford the good stuff, the Valeo might work. I paid $65 for clutch and pp on eBay, under $200 to have a shop in Bakersfield do the install...if it lasts a year I'll consider myself ahead of the game. And so far, so good.
  22. I just bought a Valeo 240 mm turbo clutch and so far it works just fine. Haven't driven it too hard, though, so not sure if it stands up to abuse. Based on my experience I'd recommend it.
  23. Thanks for posting the pic...at one time I actually considered a wing like that and wondered what it would look like. I have seen one or two wings I liked on a first gen Z, but IMHO that isn't one of them. They're cheap, I think on ebay about $50, but don't suit the car.
  24. It's not so much the camcorder, it's your editing. What are you using to edit? Home computer? Software?
