  1. ANyone know a dealer of the rust grip coating from the supertherm website. Their products look a little better than the basic por 15 approach. If the price wasnt way out there I would be interested in it.
  2. Well after measuring roughly with a tape measure it appears that the 280 strut tube is about 1-1.5 inches taller than the 240. If you used the 280 strut mount isolator it is also 3/4 or 1 inch taller than the 240 isolator. The rest of that extra height may be attributed to lower profile tires stiffer springs and struts vs. the worn out ones. and a lighter car sitting on those stiffer components isnt going to compress them much. Maybe some other guys will chime in with some better news.
  3. Ok someone has to know about these. I was told they are very efficient turbos. Lets hear it?
  4. I thought I would add to my first comment. I think that with the new rear it looks a little naked I think some sort of cut out or vent area would look much better than leaving it plain. Just my Opinion though
  5. Im open to hear some prices and testing. If it is a reliable budget alternative to some of the other offerings I would be interested.
  6. looking good so far get those pics up we are waiting
  7. A friend of mine recommended a holset turbo from the newer dodge cummings turbo deisels as a budget turbo upgrade replacement. I dont know much about them but have seen them fairly cheap. Can anyone comment. I know they use a standard t3 flange which is a plus. Any pros and cons?
  8. Im sure our crafty minds could come up with a way around all that if we could find someone that lived nearby. We could have a buy list kind of like a group buy but really just a mass order. No prices posted on the parts yet though.
  9. Im ready for the five lug rear setup. Got the front sitting here cant wait to get the rears. Then I can start wheel shopping
  10. Jon and afshin. I would like to know where you purchased the curved vane rotors for 42 each and where you purchased the ndl calipers for 115 each. Getting ready to put my kit together. Thanks guys
  11. Yeah I was supposed to be in line to get one of these myself I have been waiting for like 2 months however I think that the people that had these except for drax took them and ran. Must be nice to get free tools and then decide to keep them huh.
  12. well In 2 or 3 months Ill have some 240 tubes you could have for shipping and a very small pull fee. I should have any extra set available then.
  13. Well some good and bad news. 280 and 260 strut tubes definatly wont work there is probably a 1.5-2mm difference I dont think it would be safe if even possible to bore out the coil over sleeve to work on those. Good news is you can usually get a set of the 240 tubes pretty cheap at the jy. I also found that the 260 and 280 tubes while bigger around seem to have a thinner wall than the 240 strut tube. I think you will be hard pressed to find anything that will work on the 280 size tube except for the custom ordered sleeves and kits as they are bigger than most cars I have seen.
  14. ok Drew you help me out with the rim hookup ill help you out.... I gots the answer that everyone is waiting to hear. Ok I bought a set of coilovers for a nissan altima and guess what. They fit a 240 strut tube with a couple of mm to spare. There may be other similar cars that work though as alot of these coil over kits all look the same to me. The altima coilovers are designed to work with only the front hats and dont need hats for the rears. I happened to have an extra set. Also know that the springs that come on these will have to be swapped but any 2.5 coilover spring will work. I bought the dropzone coilovers for the nissan altima and can get some halfway decent springs for about 160 in any rate I need. Total cost for me was about 225. Probably could be done cheaper if you wanted to deal with 8 inch springs with some really stiff rates. They have 4 inches of adjustability. A budget alternative for sure but for any extra 150 you could get the modern-motorsport setup. NOTE THESE WILL NOT WORK ON 280 STRUTS
  15. Would you pleeeeeeeze post pictures of the fully pianted interior. I have been wanting to see what it would look like.
  16. teds car at least the front half is all tube contstruction. You can see it in some of the pictures on his website.
  17. Very sexy. I think you should paint your dash and console to match though too many different blacks in the car might look mismatched. But then again I may just be crazy. I plan on something similar for my car.
  18. Cool please keep us posted. I really want to run the 370cc injectors though without having to go though jwt from reading this thread It doesnt really seam like its possible for me at this point as I cant modify the computer
  19. anyone posted a how-to yet. Id really like to do this swap for my 300rwhp on a budget
  20. I like the idea but I happened to notice the sidemarkers on the new vw beetles and I think they would look awesome in this application. I wish I had pics I even had my digital cam with my but my batteries were shot. Good luck. Cutting should be no prob as the cut is smaller than the marker light so it doesnt have to be picture perfect. Filling the old marker whole would be the only slight challenge. Good luck
  21. yeah I know that. Need to know if there is a difference between the 73 240 and an 81 280zx someone has to know this???
  22. Ok I searched and am probably asking a dumb question but couldnt find the answer. If using the same trans in a z and zx would the drive shaft be the same length. This is on a regular l6 engine. With the starion trans upgrade. But the driveline length would be the same for any trans just need to know if its the same between first and second gen cars or if I need to save up some bucks for a custom one. Thanks guys
  23. Well Ive been searching for a low budget intercooler. Only looking for 250 rwhp I dont know what the intercooler is from but here are the dimensions 21.5"x 15"x 2" with a 2.5 inlet and outlet diameter. I thought it looked nice but will those dimensions flow enough for my numbers. I think it will cost me about 125.00 also looking at the 944 porsche intercoolers mentioned below but I dont like the short and fat dimensions as they stick out quite a bit but Im open to any comments or other budget oriented suggestions you guys might have. Thanks in adv.
  24. Ok what fpr are you guys using. Should I go with a specific one for my 81 zxt. Looking for something inexpensive maybe from ebay. What recommendations do you guys have?
