24 Valve DOHC head almost done!
ToplessZ replied to turbobluestreak's topic in Fabrication / Welding
I would like to hear more discussion about welding two heads together. We are talking lots of stress and accuracy is critical. How reliable would a head that is welded together in that fashion be. Im not being a pessimist at all I love the idea and am praying that it works. Just curious -

I thought that had be previously ruled out though maybe Im wrong. Sure would be pricey to get cams made for it though lots of custom parts are probably gonna get that price up in the air.... Still cant wait Im up for some fabrication Here is the ka24de head but it is from an altima so it may differ from the earlier 240sx heads although I dont think so.[/img] -
Coil over Question yet again
ToplessZ replied to ToplessZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
search didnt seem to be working. Anyway I know the Diametier of the strut tubes is different what I was asking was is the length the same I had heard that they differed and heard that they are the same from previous reading wanted to get it straight. So if I can lower it 2 inches without shortening the struts for street use I may try that and see how it works and shorten the struts later. -
What about lucite. I saw this at lowes the other day and bought a small square for the heck of it. It is pretty scratch resistant and cheap. I had to really throw it around to get it to crack too. I wonder what the molding temp for it is. Also Im a little worried would extended headlight use especially h4 bulbs make enough heat to warp your headlight cover.

I really really hate this ohio weather just got about 5 inches of snow when the freezing rain kicked in. Its supposed to be like this all week. My poor z cars dont like the cold weather and neither do I. Definatly not condusive to working on cars

ok I was trying to find this info on here but I couldnt find out exactly. When sectioning struts for coilovers and sectioning out a 1.5 inch section on a 280z what are my strut options. I know that the 240 front struts go to the rear but for the fronts I cant find a definate answer. I see some using vw rabbit struts some using mr2 struts. What year struts do I need for those cars and also do I need to use the fronts or rears from those cars for the front of my car. One last question that was discussed in a previous post and I didnt get a direct answer to. Are the dimensions of the 240 vs 280 strut tubes the same (isolators aside)? I have a set of 280 struts and could section them while leaving the stock ones bolted on for now. And a p.s. for the last question. How far can I lower a 240 without strut sectioning using coil overs. I really want to lower it for show only and then raise it for driving so wear and tear etc arent a huge issue plus I am going to be running 18's on the street and smaller track wheels so It cant be slammed because of wheel clearence. Wow that is a wordy post

looks more like miata seats with covers to me.
-
hey my friend has those seats. Just an FYI that material can be cleaned of fuzz etc with a good lint brush. Here is another nice seat for cheap http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33701&item=2456345758 By the way I have seen those dad seats for 199 on ebay and 70-80 dollar shipping with sliders. So you can beat that price by about a hundred bucks

so what can the mkIII handle. Looks like a cost effective get it running setup

can i section 240z struts
ToplessZ replied to Ivan280zt's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Well Im ready to join the dumb gang here. I am following this post. would it be that much effort to just install the coil overs with a 10 in spring and see where it sits without sectioning then if you still need to go lower then take them off and have them sectioned. -
Boy they are not the way to go any other ideas

hey steve I have seen your pics so far and you have an awesome car in the works. I will be looking forward to those shots you are going to take. Probably someone can photoshop a uniform color to them when you have them ready. Im Getting excited

Hey wanted to say I love your new acquisition. I am a big fan of the copper but what if you brightened it just a tad towards a more pearly orange. I love that car and hope mine will turn out almost as good. I have a 73 with the same body kit but definatly in need of some help. I am curious are your ccw's 17 or 18 in wheels. I really like them but I remember the car was sold with two sets and I wanted to know which ones were pictured. I also wanted to confirm weren't the flares on this car modified to accept larger wheels? Thanks for your response
-
ok anyone here care to post a side shot of the yz kit and the imsa kit for photoshop purposes?
-
Ok here's the scoop. I have a 73 240 with the Imsa body Kit installed. I am not the biggest fan of the rear flares and Have always wanted the reaction research yz flares. I was wondering what you think about using the Imsa front fiberglass fenders and the Reaction Research Rear YZ fenders? Thanks for any Ideas Guys Jared

How to install Z32 taillights in a S30 (a pictorial)
ToplessZ replied to Dan Juday's topic in Body Kits & Paint
yeah they sell the kits to make the jspec tail lights out of your current ones. Even cooler though are the skyline lights they make for the z32's Ive seen a few sets on ebay and they look killer. -
How to install Z32 taillights in a S30 (a pictorial)
ToplessZ replied to Dan Juday's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Dan if I havnt said it yet I must say I drool every time I see your car. I love it. As for the blackout area well I will try to explain my take here and make some sense out of it. Anyway if you notice in the photoshop it looks as if the blacked out aread is a seperate panel which it is not. If you look at the orig. picture the area around the liscense plate flows into the body. I dont think it would look right with it being painted black as it would kind of be making it look like a stock panel but the body work would be interrupted by the paint. I dont think that makes much sense but maybe someone else will comment. I like it the way it is however I do think that it looks sweet with the lights moved up some. Also is there any reason the stock angle of the tail lights had to be retained. Would it hurt that much if the were angled forward as to sit flat. -
