  1. Id recommend putting as much down on it as possible as the interest on those small payments adds up very quickly. You also made the mistake of being way to excited in front of the dealer. That just lessens any chance of negotiating a lower price on your part. Should have let him keep thinking it was a regular SE. Good luck though. Dont forget the sr20det bolts in nicely for future reference....hybrid #2?
  2. Ok This is not for me but I promised I would ask all you knowledgable fellows. Did all zx's come with the r200 or did the 79 come with r180 and r200. Also since the 79 zx has half shafts would the cv shafts from the zxt's be a bolt in or do you need the zxt companion flanges? Thanks for the help
  3. Sorry to not get to respond sooner. Aaron I hope you didn't take offense to my comment. I didn't mean to sound harsh. I really don't want to work for a dealership. For me I can't afford to take the pay cut to change oil. I live on my own so thats pretty costly. The closest real dealership is almost an hour away if they would even hire me. I don't really want to work at a dealership at all. I want to get into the custom work that dealerships don't or won't do. Im trying to avoid the greasy, dirty, fix whats broke, wrenchin. I love my z's and they provide plenty of that. I had the oppertunity to basically sweep floors and do the nasty work at a local body shop for 6.00 an hour which I thought would be great experience. I just couldn't make the time between work and part time school. I want to have fun with my career. Thus the career choice. If I have to work for a large company for awhile I would want it to be a high end car company, or similar circumstance, more for the pay and prestige. I guess I dont think I would enjoy fixing grandma's cavalier at the chevy dealership. I have a friend who's brother got a good job at BMW making 60k starting salary and 70k after 3 months of BMW sponsered training. Thats something I would like to aim for and to me thats pretty good money. I would do that for a while and then with the education I had I would like to open a rod and custom type shop. I have learned a ton by reading and watching how to video's and playing with my cars and friends cars. I think Im on the right track with my self education. Unfortunatly its not accredited. I hope some more of you will comment.
  4. Yeah but does your dad work for BMW I dont want a mechanics job. Id like to do something a little more fun. Design or R&D. I like wrenching but not enough to do it for 30 years. I like the other stuff. I also live in a small town where changing oil (if you can find a job doing it) would be at some small town garage that pays 6 or 7 dollars an hour.
  5. umm what person in their right mind would spend 1700 dollars on a set of pistons for their datsun. Thats nuts. Are you going for 600 or more hp or what? I believe you can get a set elsewhere for about 500 dollars custom made
  6. Forgot to add that Im accepting donations towards my college fund
  7. well retaining the 4x4 may be a challenge but Ive seen a couple of v8ed datsun trucks in my neck of the woods. Both having more of a pro street look. Engine fits. Other than that I dont know. Good luck
  8. Ok here's the deal. I am hooked I mean as in hooked for good. Im 21 almost 22 and I love cars. I want to go to a school similar to wayotech or UTI but I cant afford it right now I have slowly been trying to build up my library with all types of fabrication, chassis, paint, and customizing books. Alas I am poor and the books aren't free so my collection is still small. Although Amazon.com is helping me out. Anyway I was wondering if any of you could offer advice on this type of education. I know the average cost of an education at wayotech is about 28,000 including expenses. I was wondering if there are any other more budget oriented programs offered elsewhere. I've been looking around but I dont want to go to an unheard of school that will limit my career possibilities. My goal is to land a well paying job with a car manufacturer and or maybe someday open my own shop doing what I love the most. Until this happens I will keep reading and reading and tinkering until Ive mastered the needed skills. That being said anyone have any suggestions or any fabrication or other books that you want to sell cheap. Sorry for the long post.
  9. Thats the spirit juan. Common guys keep the ideas headed this way. I really want that rear wilwood setup
  10. man what a steal I wish I had three grand laying around Id snag that in a flash. Get a new front fascia and wa la sweet car. With the upgrades he listed that is a steal and a half. Looks killer for the price. Sorry I dont know what kind of flares those are. Kinda look like the bond on IMSA fender flares from MSA not to be confused with the IMSA widebody kit.
  11. Dale despite your anti-terrorism tactics I think it best you keep your clothes on. We dont want non taliban American citizens committing suicide. That being said I will be ready to support any anti terrorist efforts at 4:00
  12. lookin sweet. Just got some sexy wheels and drop it a couple inches and you will have killer ride.
  13. well so much for being the first one huh? Ive been eying that airdam since they day they put it on the internet. Would definatly like to hear about fit and finish.
  14. No problem. I just got done doing the seals on my injectors and it worked like a charm. Not a hard job either. I would also recommend replacing the hoses that connect the fuel rail and injectors too. Happy Boosting
  15. Alright you have been around long enough to know how to use the search function... but I'll cut you a little slack. Jsk fuel rails are available for stock injectors Im not sure if the new ones he has are compatible with the dsm injectors without modifications. On to your question about swapping the injectors though. I dont believe you can use the dsm injectors with the stock ecu but I may be wrong. You definatly need a totally upgraded fuel system. There is really no need to upgrade your injectors until you want to get past the 250 hp mark. I would just replace the seals on yours which can be done for 12 bucks (ie advanced auto parts), and the connectors which can be had for 15-20. Check for any cracked injector bases. Those can be had cheaply from the jy. Have your injectors cleaned. Or soak them for a day in B-12 before running them and you should be good to go. By the way the JSK stuff is kick A$$
  16. well I hate to say it but nothing is going to fit perfectly. Most dashes flow into the doors by way of a molded armrest. I would say get some fiberglass and cut out the tach and speedo. Then make a more modern looking housing for those two gauges. The three center gauges look modern like many other newer cars. Then make a mold of the whole thing and make your full fiberglass dash. It will weigh less, be easier to paint, and you could sell one to me after that. Lol. This is basically the plan I have at the moment.
  17. Sorry to hear about that. The seller seems slightly un educated I would try to forget what happened and just get your refund. It could be worse.
  18. Thanks Ill do some research. Anyone have recommendations on what air filter/regulator to use. This compressor will see mostly power tool use with a paint job or two for now
  19. Ok guys I have a couple dumb electrical questions. My compressor motor Campbell hausfield says 230 volts only can I still plug this in to a standard 220 or 240 volt circut? If so do I need to install a heavy duty receptical such as one for a dryer or will the one I have for the 220 volt air conditioner work? I need to get this thing hooked up asap got a few things to do before car goes to the body shop. Hope you guys can help. Also what filter and regulator setup are you guys using?
  20. I wanted the mention the rpm airgap but pyro beat me to it. Just wanted to reiterate that the single plane victor does not match your power band at all and even with the 4.11's I think it will be sketchy. I have the rpm airgap on my 383 blazer which ran a 13.3 on street everything. Mild cam, stock heads, stock truck tbi and intake. Cant wait to get it up and out there again. I hightly recommend you try the performer rpm airgap Its probably the best flowing dual plane intake out there. And the best part is it makes good power from 1500-6000 or 6500 might be time to look for a lsd also one wheelin a 3.54 is killing that 60ft
  21. Ive seen the Sams club stainless tool chest. It is very high quality and a steal at 700 bucks. Now if I wasnt poor I would have upgraded my two cheap walmart stacks. Unfortunatly they serve my purpose so I dont have an excuse to upgrade.
  22. I have a pair of fronts I may be talked out of...
  23. Looks beautiful I cant wait to order one. Good to hear your .02 on the board hope to hear more of your expertise. I have been to your site many times and have been out of posting like yourself for awhile. Hopefully that will have changed for the both of us. Glad to hear about the minimum order being deminished. Now to do the picking
  24. Would love to see more pictures. I also have a convertible project that has seen little project with all the work ive been doing on my other 240 turbo swap. Would definatly like to see and hear more. Looks like some slick work.
