  1. I vote for 16's Looks are better and leaves room for big brake clearence. Are you planning on running spacers or adapters or are you going to try to find rims with close to a zero offset.
  2. Hey painting part of the carbon fiber hood and leaving a center section of it was my idea. Stole it out of Ricers Monthly (sport compact) lol. Anyway I like the idea of just leaving the hood bulge showing. But I think I would paint the zg flares the same color of the car. Two Tone can be a good thing but you start getting 3 or 4 colors mixed in there with trim parts and what not I think It starts looking like a striped tie on a flannel shirt. Just my opinion though. Remember those can be had for .02 or less
  3. how wide a rim can you run with those steel flares. I really like the looks of them and I dont think they are all that expensive. kinda like the metal too because no worries of cracking.
  4. although I think it looks ok I tend to agree with tims comment. I dont mind the carbon fiber hood but when you start painting random parts then it starts to look goofey. what I think would look good would be a carbon fibre hood and hatch. That would be different too.
  5. Yeah I second drax's idea I really like the gunmetal look. It goes well with the zg scheme and I think it would look awesome on your car. Keep up the great work man. That car is gonna rock and roll!!!!!!!!!
  6. I thought it looked like carbon fiber to me. Id be happy with fiberglass though.
  7. I think the 200r4 would be a nice trans behind a high power turbo or stroker l6 ive thought of that a few times. Would love to see someone do it or share thier ideas.
  8. Id like to have a custom hood. I really like the vents that were made out of fiberglass a few posts up. I would really really pay for something like that. They sure would look sweet especially in carbon fibre. Man O man.
  9. Glad to hear you are getting ready to paint I hate to admit it but I think that car would look awesome without stripes. But thats just my .02 its just gonna be rockin to see it clothed in some color. Keep up the awesome work!!!
  10. what do you mean some frames can fit them...certain years? First or second gen? Would be nice if I found out my car could fit the 26x19 extra cooling is always a plus.
  11. I havent heard anything bad about the griffins yet. I thought that the 24x19 was too big. Guess I lost track of my facts. Ill probably be getting one eventually.
  12. jmortenson mike no longer makes the tubular control arms unfortunatly he has retired from that to spend time on his other job and Im sure many other reasons. Hey juan Id like to see a cad drawing of what you are thinking of here. Im sure some others would to when you get around to it.
  13. Well Ross at http://www.modern-motorsports.com is supposed to be taking over mikelly's suspension line. I think it may still be viewable at http://www.zfracing.com I really wanted Mike's suspension setup but he stopped producing them before I could save up enough $$$ If you need any parts for experimentation I have a whole suspension from a 280z available. I dont know if aluminum would be the best material for these or not but It would be cool if it offred a small weight reduction although I dont think it would be alot. Lets get the creative juices flowing and hear more from everyone.
  14. Dont forget that 300hp is fairly easy out of an sr20det. I dont know what that guy is running as I didnt take the time to read the post but there is alot of potential. IF the guy has a 240z with any weight reduction attempted he is way under 2700 lbs of course if you are referring to s30bushido's car he has a 280 little heavier but there are ways to drop alot of that weight and he has already ditched the boat anchor bumpers. Id love to do this swap in my convertible if I could find a way to do it really cheaply.
  15. I see cheap kits for altima's all the time. Might be akin to a 240sx which is slightly akin to a 240z My altima seemed to have a wider strut tube Ill try and measure it. Only thing about those cheap coil over kits is no one will tell you the spring rate on them. Still might be a possibility dont rule it out yet. Might be a cheap alternative according to your needs.
  16. actually Im planning on running a 335 tire and a significant amount of torque and I dont want longevity problems. Ill work on getting pics of those 5 lug adapters but its probably going to take some time.
  17. Check out http://www.gearvendors.com That may be an option
  18. Congrats on an awesome paint job. What is that color kinda looks like a dark gunmetal. Really Sweet!!!
  19. Common guys I spent an hour wading through search hits and found nothing. Someone is holding out on me here
  20. Yes the 35-38mm would be on top of the 280z original offset. This is what the offset would change to if using a 300zx hub. As you stated I concur that simple is better in this part. It will keep cost down and ease up the manufacturing process. The only thing is I would try to keep it about 35mm. I dont know if more than that might start eliminating wheel options or not. I think that would be about right. Hopefully some other guys will comment. As far as having a different offset front and rear juan did say he would be working on something for the rears possibly. As far as deep dish goes thats a matter of taste. I will be running volk rims with a pretty big dish but they still have the newer offset pattern. They just happen to be really wide!!! These type of rims are made for supras 300z's etc... Also the new mustang rims. There are alot of us running these with the 300zx hub already and a spacer in the rear. Only disadvantage is the dust seal not fitting and having a heavier part. Juan's work would be clearing up both of those issues. Im all for getting rid of the spacer in the rear. Although I have a full set of 4 to 5 lug spacers already, Im a little leary on using them.
  21. Wait a minute didnt you just say 269 for the 2 hubs is that the same thing you are talking about for 450?
  22. No I didnt send a hub as you said you already had one lined up. I would have to go out and source one.
  23. ahh yes a rear set to match would be rockin. I want to get those front and rear wilwoods to match and the lighter hubs on the drivewheels would be nice. I would like to hear more about the aluminum holding up in the rear? Maybe Im stupid though but the rear doesnt really have a hub like the fronts do they. Would this replace the stub axle or bolt to it. And would the stub axle still have to be redrilled to a five lug pattern. Sorry to ask so many questions but I have to say all these new possibilities are very exciting especially when they replace old parts create less work and add performance all for a modest price keep the input coming guys!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. IF we went our studs bearings and seals with the payment would you install them for us. Having a shop press makes those things go nicely as opposed to a 2x4 and a big hammer. I wouldnt know what to compare the price to really but that doesnt sounds bad to me.
  25. I think you should see who all would be interested in the chevy pattern before doing a run. Might be better off to just accomodate a couple of requests for them as I am willing to put money on the 5x4.5 being the most available rim and most desired for those of us looking. Nothing against a chevy pattern I would think it would be easy to just change the pattern if the setup was for five lugs anyway. Just my .02 which may be depreciating as we speak
