For you guys interested in casting parts
capt_furious replied to Lunar240z's topic in Non Tech Board
WOW. That's very educational...I can now understand why reproducing engines(and large castings in general) is such an expensive process. ...if I had an inexhaustible source of money, this is probably the sort of thing I'd blow it on. -
Wow...this guy seriously needs to die in a fire. Somebody's got to bring him down. ...then again, people are idiots for paying $100+ for a damn MAGNET to go on their fuel line. Maybe they're getting what they deserve.

After looking at some of the negative feedback, I'd have to say that they are dumber than livestock.

What are these wheels?
capt_furious replied to moodah's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
How about these? They're one-piece and don't have bolts, but they're pretty desirable and somewhat rare. -
It's only a model.

Bah, jets are for kids.

That's freakin' BRILLIANT.

The C.A.R.B.(California Air Resources Board) has been trying to kill SB42(the '75 and earlier smog exemption, the 25 year rolling part being killed off in 2000) ever since it was passed. Their ultimate goal is to get rid of anything on the road in California 15 years old or older. That means at this point, if it's a '92 or earlier, regardless of condition or how often it's driven, it's a gross polluter! SEMA is part of the driving force behind keeping SB42 alive, but SEMA is also doing some interesting backdoor deals at the same time. Politics are a nasty business. If you've got a car that's 15 years old or older, you'll be getting that letter in the mail. Burn it. Don't toss it, don't recycle it, BURN it. Throw a few extra unburned hydrocarbons into the atmosphere courtesy of the self-important fascists in Sacramento. Better yet, send them a photo of your baby right after a nice wash & wax, and a copy of the KBB value, maybe even a detailed list of the work you've done. Tell them they can shove their $650 where the sun don't shine, they can't AFFORD your car, and it pollutes less than the chauffeured land barge they take to lunch every day. The only reason I still live in this state is because most of my family is here. Cost of living and fascist government practices are quickly convincing me to pull up roots and go someplace where no bureaucrat sitting on their fat haunches in the capitol is telling me what i can drive, what sort of firearms I can protect myself with, and how much of my property and hard-earned cash they're entitled to.

Wow, that is NICE. Love the Rev wheels, good choice. Great work! -
Try Valspar Goof-Off graffiti remover first. It'll get rid of aerosol based paints with minimal damage to others, but be careful to limit the length of exposure. The shop I work at gets hit often by vandals, lots of gang activity in the area and it's an industrial waterfront. Nothing pisses me off worse than having to remove marker and spraypaint from a sign bearing a Medal of Honor and the recipient's name. If I'd caught the cowards doing it they'd be in the hospital. I exact revenge by wiping out all the tags I can possibly find within 200 feet of the shop. Not in MY neighborhood, assholes. The graffiti remover is the best tool for the job, along with 00 steel wool. ...and if I lived in Texas, I'd pack a loaded shotgun in the car at all times and carry a handgun whenever possible...because I can. Better to be an armed shepherd than a dead pacifist.

Do you like hearing Porsche GTs fall and crack?
capt_furious replied to auxilary's topic in Non Tech Board
*low whistle* ...ohhhhh, that's gonna SUCK...and on video, no less. Someone's insurance is going to go nuts, either the towing company or the driver, maybe both. -
Older than the Willys. Late '40s, maybe early '50s.

Since the thread is leaning toward the absurd...let's just tip it over, shall we? BANZAIIII!!!!!!!!

Drowning a few environmentalists might not be a bad idea, either. ...save the planet, and let's discard logic while we're at it! What a maroon!

...something very strange going on with that other board and Nazism... All I can say in in response to the 'I can do better' BS is this: if it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid. Pffft, 'ghetto'. Brilliant is more like it...who'd think of chopping up 3 4 cyl heads, bolting the remains together and actually getting it to WORK and work well? They're just upset they didn't come up with it themselves.

Uh...no. .50 BMG on the corners and 40 mm Bofors AAA for the center.

Fine, here's one that makes me look like a giant. Mock me, will you? Fine, your punishment is that I get weird.

Knockoff adaptors?
capt_furious replied to capt_furious's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I'm looking for BRM GT40 6-spoke clones that won't require selling a kidney. After doing some Googling, I've decided knockoffs / hub screw wheels aren't such a good idea on a daily driver. Too much chance of having them stolen or come loose. Spinners look neat on the right car...they may look ok on the Z, but a hub nut or...sadly, a fake hub nut would probably be a better choice. -
pushed in bumpers(huggers) does anyone have a pic???
capt_furious replied to hondabait's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Yes, it's possible. Pull the bumper and shocks off as a unit. Unbolt the shocks from the frame / body. Use a penetrant (Aero Kroil, PB Blaster, WD 40) on ALL of the bolts and let it sit for a few days. Unbolt the shocks from the bumper. Only takes two nuts per side. Unscrew the screw on the end of the shocks that faced the bumper(smaller end). You don't have to take it completely out, just release all of the pressure. Once this is done, screw the screw back in and take a drill to the opposite (larger)end. Use about an 1/8" drill bit. It's quite possible that the damping oil will come out when the hole is drilled, so take the necessary precautions - put it in a catch pan first and have some absorbent handy. Use eye protection. Drill your hole and collapse the shock. Some people have said you'll have to drill and screw in a bolt to keep the shocks from extending out again. I haven't noticed this. I've had my shocks collapsed for about a month now without the bolt in them and they haven't moved. Yours might be different. If you're able to get the rubber off without snapping off all of the bolts, do it. Otherwise, leave it on. My 260 still has the large rubber pads on it since the bolt heads are too rusted to get off. I'm going to keep looking for a 240 bumper and mounts for the front. The back bumper pads came apart easily. The bumper ends have rubber connectors that keep the ends from bouncing around and hitting the bodywork. You may need to work up a bumper bolted to the body and fitting inside the bumper to hold them in place, something like I, H, G or E in this photo: ...it depends on how much the ends bounce around and if they hit the body. -
Knockoff adaptors?
capt_furious replied to capt_furious's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
*low whistle* Yeah, considering the cost of adapters and the fact that BRM GT-40 wheels are $478 EACH, I don't think I'll be able to afford it anytime soon. Didn't notice Image's pricing until after I posted. Too bad BRM is out of business. They made some killer wheels. ...which leads to my next question, anyone know of a wheel that looks very similar in 16 x 8 and 4 x 114.3? There are plenty of 6-spoke wheels out there, but none like this. -
Might be a bad ground in the ignition system, or the coil may be grounding out(which would collapse the field before it would get a chance to discharge). Go back through your ignition system and attempt to put it back exactly the way it was before the swap, assuming anything was changed. I had a '72 Fury that would occasionally quit and not run, then finally died altogether...a radio noise suppression capacitor fried and was grounding out the coil...Auxilary spotted it smoking. Yanked the wire off of the capacitor, vroom.
