  1. It looks great. You have been doing a great job on it! You may want to try turning your door speakers the other way. Idealy you want the tweaters as close to your ears as possible ie. up higher. Since they are three ways, you would want the tweeter on top, and if they are positionable you would point them toward the passengers head area.
  2. This isn't a Z, but it goes to show what a determined individual can acomplish from scratch. Check it out. http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4020 The body is all aluminum and total vehicle weight is only 1200-1300 pounds. I wish I had skills like that!
  3. Has anyone used the Apexi twin chamber BOV? This is the one I am talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190111348068&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:us What do you guys think? Should I just go with the Greddy type RS?
  4. That sounds very risky, but fun also. I wouldn't have the guts to do it myself. Best of luck though. I'll be rootin' for ya.
  5. Anyone get the Rota RB's in 16x8 with 04 offset yet? I think they are supposed to be out now. Anyone know for sure? I want to see these wheels on a Z!
  6. Have you installed that airdam yet? I am dying to see what it looks like on the car painted. I am thinking of getting that same one. I don't like hanging the license plate from the bumper, and the police around here like to see a plate on the front of the vehicle. I can't count how many times I got pulled over for no front plate in my old camaro. Car is looking great!
  7. yes, thanks Chino 240Z!
  8. So a .63AR with the t3/04e? What about a Holset? I have read alot of people on here running them. A hy35, or hx35? Some of them seem to have funky outlest on the turbine housing. Would this be a good way to go? BTW Clifton, I like the color of your car in your sig, what paint is that?
  9. Also would a .48 AR turbine support 300+rwhp, or do I need to go with the .63 AR? And would an internal wastegate suffice? It sure would be alot more simple on the instalation. I also plan on puting megasquirt and Spark in the car.
  10. Hi all, I am going to be putting a L28ET in my early 260Z, and am thinking of puting on a better turbo that will support up to 20 pounds, but will be driven mostly at 14-15PSI. I was thinking of goint to a T3/T04E hybrid turbo. I am fairly new to turbo setups, and would like some opinions. Alot of them have the 5 bolt downpipe setup, and some with a round 4 bolt, but I have seen some that are a V-band setup, are these better? It looks to me that they would be less restrictive, and you could fit a larger downpipe with them. Are there any advantages to the V-band setup? What about exhaust leakage? Where are you guys reintroducing the wastegate pipe into the exhaust, or are you just running a dump tube? I am wanting 300-375rwhp, and it will be driven alot during the summer at 4500+ ft elevation on pump gas. Also are all the ebay ones junk, or are there some that aren't too bad. Anyone run a cheaper off brand with success? Most of the Garrett ones seem to be $500-$650+. One more question, at these power levels is a forged piston mandatory? I would think they would be, but if I can spend the cost difference between cast, and forged somewhere else on the car, I would. Sorry for all the newbie questions, and I have searched alot already. Thank you for any info.
  11. The one I was refering to was the last pic in your post, and it is similar to these pics. This car was sprayed with Dupont Hot Hues Hot Rasberry candy over a silver metallic base. The first two pics look like a branywine type color.
  12. It looks like Dupond hot hues candy sprayed over a silver metallic, or a gold metalic, can't really tell without a good pic in the sun. Just check out the hut hues line from dupont, and I'm sure you can find the shade of red you are after.
  13. The thing about diesel engines, is they don't rev very high in the first place, and at 2-3000RPM's they are spewing more exhaust through the turbo than your 3.1 at 5-6000RPM's.
  14. Have any of you seen such custom fab work? I wish I had such mad skills, then parts and equipment wouldn't cost so much, and you could do all your shopping in one place...Home Depot! I couldn't believe he posted these pics on a public forum. Here is where I found it if anyone wants to read about this sweet build. http://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php?topic=69917.0
  15. What side markers are those? I like the side fender vent, was that custom fabed, or one grafted in? Looks good, I'm just not a huge fan of SS louvers. It does look good though. edit: Since I have a 280 hood already on without vents, those don't look like they would be wide enough and the right shape. Also the hood raises up slightly by the vent holes. If I can't find those black ones posted above, I guess I will have to find some stockers.
  16. Why would anyone care about hurting the old lug? I would never reuse any wheel stud once removed. I doubt you could get it to fit tight enough again.
  17. Any close ups of these "SS lovers"?
  18. I would like to find those vents for my Z. I also looked at ebay, and couldn't find any. If anyone knows where they can be found please chime in.
  19. Great job! That looks great. Can't wait to se what it looks like painted.
  20. Lexus sc300 has a similar one also.
  21. Yes the car is super dusty, 15 years worth of dust in fact. The rear hatch area has no rust at all, just dirty. The only rust ther at all is the catch machanism which is only surface rust. There is surface rust here and there, but overall very solid.
  22. I picked this up from a friend of a friend. It has been sitting for 15 years, and it definately shows. There isn't much rust at all, but the paint is horrible. I'm not sure if I will be taking her all the way down to the unibody, or just partially. It has a 280Z hood, and some minor damage. I am on the fence as to do a LT1 swap, or a l28et, at any rate I won't be satisfied with less than 300HP. What do you guys think? Was it a good price at $300? I think so, and I am way excited to get started.
  23. That looks great! Keep up the good work.
  24. Wow that 180 exhaust system is crazy! I like the looks of it, but way too complicated for me. Also would require more room than available, unless you drive a 4x4 Z.
