  1. I was wondering if you could close off one carb and adjust the other, if I screw any one of the 4 all the way in, it does start to sound like it will die, but once I back it out a turn or so, I can't really hear any more change. The car run's pretty rich at idle or cruising rpm's, at WOT the plugs look great (like after a 1/4 mile pass) but after a month of cruising, they are pretty black.
  2. I just need a consistent answer. I have 2 Holley 450's on my tunnel ram, to adjust the "fuel mixture" or "idle mixture" or whatever you want to call it, (the two screws at the bottom of the primaries), if you back out the screws, is it richer of leaner? I keep getting conflicting info, if it is an air screw, then to me backing out would make it leaner but the holley web site itself says backing out is richer. (I just read on a random holley as I can't remember my part number). Someone please explain. thanks! Jeff
  3. Congrats and thanks for doing that. Now we never have to think about Pinks II again. You did it for us! (whether you meant to or not) Jeff
  4. He V80z, I went from stock heads with minor port and polishing to the sportsman II's and it was way lean. Went up a few jet sizes to feed it. Jeff
  5. Still sub par, put new pads, turned rotors and flushed brake fluid. Need to go thru the entire system just haven't done it yet. Jeff
  6. No doubt on what the Doc says. First time I ran mine, I was hitting 14.003 ish, was thinking "if I could only get into the 13's I would be happy." Unbolted my exhauset and did it. 2 years later, running 12.3's and thinking.."if I could just break into the 11's I will be happy!" It is a disease.
  7. Is your motor in the scarab position? Does the hood close? Looks great, you need to tell us what you did with all that wiring and fusible link crap that makes my engine bay so ugly. Jeff
  8. Corzette, the carbs are Holley 450's and the intake is an old Edelbrock street tunnel ram. This will be an obvious statement, but GrumpyVette has lots of knowledge on tunnel rams, he gave me some info when I first put it on. As far as my tire size.....a whopping 205 wide! I put them on before I had any horspower. Back to Corzette, where in Texas are you from?
  9. My heads are Sportsman II small chambers, Cam is a Comp Cams Xtreme energy "XE274H-10". Probably not the right cam for the tunnel ram. I had it laying around so I put it on there as more of a novelty to turn heads but it seems to run pretty good so it will stay awhile. What kind of 60' times do you get without NOS. I see your 11.9 et at 111 MPH. My trap speed is 112 but am totally nursing it off the line. Was that on slicks?
  10. that's it. It's not much of a facility compared to Houston Raceway Park, but the track always seems to be good and sticky.
  11. I actually put a different scoop on it Saturday. I think I like the new one better. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=10989&cat=500
  12. The track is actually just west of Seguin on I-10. Which would put it east of San Antonio about 30 minutes. I don't know why that truck was there, all the other cars in the DOT class where either classic muscle cars or Vette's. I guess he was after the bracket racing money. At least I beat him!
  13. Had a blast at Super Chevy in San Antonio this weekend. Bested last years 12.72 with a 12.37. Was having major traction issues in first gear, basically had to feather it all the way thru first. Time for CV's and Drag Radials. There was a 8 second Z there, big block, Alcohol injected, tubbed full on race car. It was bad, can't remember the guys name but I should be getting an e-mail from him. I lined up with him during test and tune, looked real cool with 2 red Z's on the line till it turned green and he lift me sittin there. Here's a link to my best pass. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/caa84bef-cf4b-4632-afec-984e00c1edfb.htm
  14. Not to take any business away from Ross but I run a large machine shop and enjoy making my own parts whenever possible. I'm just doing my homework before I begin. Thanks Jeff
  15. So what's the preferred method, Welded or bolt up???
  16. Does anyone have any pics of the CV adapter setup that get's welded on one side? I've seen one but can't remember how it was set up. Short of that, could someone just explain to me how it is setup? Thanks Jeff
  17. I'm only interested in it for the CV's they should fit into my R200 right? The back cover was opened up on the dif when I got it so I assume it has a problem. Haven't looked in there yet though. If the Dif is good, would my back cover bolt up to it?
  18. I have had this for a while bot don't know what it is off of. Looks to be an R200 but from what, a ZX? Is this the good CV's? http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=10931&cat=500 thanks Jeff
  19. You got any buddies with another carb you could slap on there? That would for sure rule out the carb if the problem stays.
  20. I only have 5 psi at the carb and have never had a problem. When I have had fuel or timing advance problems, It would almost stall, fall on it's face. Are you absolutely sure you are getting wide open throttle, it seems like the only logical thing. Motor would most likely rev under no load but would level out like you say going down the road. Any weird/incorrect spacers or anything under that carb that would limit the butterfly's from opening?
  21. What exactly does it do when you try to exceed that rpm range, does it start missing, stumbling or just sound normal?
  22. Same thing happend to me. Turns out a golf ball had rolled behind the gas pedal. Just kidding, sorry, coudn't resist it. Good luck with your problem.
