  1. haha ya Brakes are actually one of my favorite things to work with on the car. I just dont want to risk having the car not together for the tuning appointment if i can avoid it. The brakes that are on the car now are pretty shot- so its going to be night and day. While it might take you 2-3 hours it will probably take me twice that, and maybe a couple trips to pep boys or an order of stainless lines from tire rack ETC...
  2. Man i caused all types of controversy. Ya, used or newly purchased that you decided not to use. Anyone?
  3. Thank for the help-Ive had some bad penetrant experiences so if I have to have the car back together in less then 12 hours I dont want to have to deal with stuck bolts etc. I was just wondering if it was a floating rotor setup that a quick change
  4. This friday I am going to get my motor tuned but the brakes are worn and I got new rotors and pads that have to go on. Is this something that can be done in a few hours? or is there some crazy spindle tool, or other road block that should make me hold off for a little bit. And also i realize this is a dumb post because there are factors that could make it go either way, but in general there are processes on some cars that take longer then others and I was hoping that this isnt one of them. Thanks, Eric
  5. there are a few but they are $$...
  6. Feeling whats out there from a coilover perspective before i take the plunge on some brand new items. Quality is my first concern. But if there is someone out there parting out maybe we can help each other out -Eric
  7. Thats for the whole sending kit-- i just need the actual bung that welds on to the exhaust to fit it on. For some reason they wanted me to source my own...It was mufflex in NJ which is supposedly a really great shop--
  8. By far one of the coolest cars on the board. I love that motor and it makes tons of power for what it is whether its NA or Boosted. My buddy on stock motor on an S2000 pushes 450whp w/ a pfab manifold and gt30r. The only thing is the s2ks have diff issues--- but with a Z and an r200 less 700 lbs it can be a FUN ride
  9. Need halfshafts from a 280 to complete my swap. Had a thread originally for stub axles but was incorrect.
  10. I purchased a guage used however it only came with teh sensor and not the bung that is welded on the exhaust pipe. Does anyone know what size bung to get or where to purchase? I have looked all over..
  11. Doing an R200 swap. This is my last piece of the puzzle.
  12. Its so far from stock there is no way I can tell--- http://www.makingapril.com/greg/Eric/new.JPG Looks like I am gonna tear this thing apart, and just try to put ♥♥♥♥ together... I just dont want to be snapping axles left and right... its annoying. I did it in my turbo honda when I had the slicks on and I dont want to have to do it again...
  13. Ha well most of my experience lies in new cars where its just bolt-ons and go and everybody my age is a certified mechanic. This is the first car I have really gotten into that cant have parts purchased off the shelf and installed so my learning curve is a little steeper then those who have been into classics/z's their whole career. Regardless, I love working on it especially because its so unique-- it just takes me more questions. - How do i know if its an early or late 260? - The car MAYYYY see a drag strip (only on street tires) but most likely will not see past 350whp- Are CV's necessary? Is the axle shortening necessary? -The car is not my daily driver, so it can sit for as long as it takes me to finish-- I just love the summer and ideally dont want it to stay in my garage for tooo long
  14. So all I need are r200 280z half shafts? What is all this business about CV conversions etc? This whole RWD thing is new to me... (kinda)
  15. So I have been through all the stickies, past threads, current threads, etc about putting the longnose diff I have in my garage in my 260z... and for some reason its just still not making sense. Hopefully its not out of stupidity, due to the fact that I have been around cars for a while now but it seems like there are a lot of parts with similar names, that do different things and I just at this point need someone to spell it out for me. I am sure with experience it just is really simple but I am just losing it trying to get all the parts together for the swap. So far here are the parts that are floating around as possible pieces to hte puzzle: Mustache bar companion flange cv axles stub axles rear cover front diff mount From my understanding the R200 has to have a CV conversion available from modern motorsports. Connecting to the conversion are 300zx turbo CV axles Connecting the CVs to the hubs are Stub Axles? and those stub axles have to have a certain number of teeth? Mounting the Diff is a mustache bar, and a front diff mount The rear cover holds the diff onto the mustache bar The Yoke or companion flange? I dont know what that does at all.... My question is does anyone have individual pictures of the different parts, or a diagram on how it all comes together. I dont think ive ever had this much trouble understanding things..... So essentially I have a Longnose R200, rear cover and a Mustache Bar out of a 280z. What is missing from my puzzle to get this diff into my car?!
  16. I fit seats that have those wide wings in my car--- took a little bit of fab but they fit in. I have brides now that just do fine
  17. hey streeteg,,,I've been waiting 3 weeks for you to measure the bore on the spacers,,,,,wtf ??

  18. I am not sure how well known this car is on the forums, but I got into Z's about 2 years ago when I found an RB swapped Z in Georgia formerally known as "sixgun". (mostly because it had a giant sticker across the back saying sixgun) In retrospect it probably wasnt the best decision in the world to paypal someone I didnt know 500 bucks to hold the car and carry the rest in cash in my pocket as I flew 6 states away to pick up a drive back a car that I knew nothing about. You can only imagine the look on my face as I had a 14 hour drive of all open dumppipe ahead of me. As fate would have it, everything ended up fine, but here is a preview of what the car looked like when I got it: The car had horribly offset wheels (16x7 panasports) that made it about 2 weeks before losing traction made me lose my mind. I sold them for some 17x9 sportmaxes which were also horribly offset even with a 2" hub adapter to fit them to the body. They were a great holdover wheel and with the right camera angle I still think looked sexy. I am a fan of big wheels for sure, but the offset was so terrible. As for the interior well-- that was another story--- As you can see, it had more stickers then a nascar, stock seats, no heat, no radio, no blinkers, and the only guages that worked were the water temp and oil pressure. And no i cant explain the doughboy or the Tivo sticker--- I havent a clue why they were there. And for those of you who see that giant clump of wires on the passenger side--- well yes that is still an issue to deal with. My next major project will be making a custom, clean harness for the car. As for now, I can figure it out, but if you didnt have a lot of patience then forget it--- you would lose your mind figuring this thing out.... Regardless of everything about it, it still came with this: Which is the entire reason I bought it. Still a huge project... especially due to the fact that the entire front end was molded... Everything had to go in from the bay. Such a PIA. But I grew some balls and got a rotozip and went to work. below is the "finished product". Well for the most part. Since then I have added a catch can, and some other goodies. Import tuner wanted me to change the couplers before getting shot for an issue so thats on the list too-- Most of us who =own these cars know that thye can never be finished. I still have a LOT to do.... but I was able to take it out for a cruise this past week and it was AWESOME. After an entire winter you start to get unmotivated, but one drive and I am back to trying to make it amazing.... And for the cruise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq1iJP6DK4I&feature=channel_page Thanks for looking... Youll notice that I am not revving it out all the way--- mostly because I am untuned, but the power FC on the dash isnt just for show--- Just need an alternator and some camber to stop rubbing in the rear... Thanks, -Eric
  19. That would be awesome if you got a built motor--- where did you get it from?
  20. Every time I post my car up I have a million people post a picture of yours saying how I dont measure up...and you again raise the bar. I hate it as much as I love it. Nice car man. -Eric
  21. My RB Z After this winters rebuild. Still a lot to go!
