Nothing too interesting for Z or L320s/520. It was fun looking through the inventory.

My first: 1992 stationed on Guam, 1979 280ZX brown and gold smashed on the driver's side for $500, ran like a champ. It hooked me on Zs. Repaired the dent with a junkyard door that was not so great either so we weld the old do bottom to the junkyard door top to make a good door. Pulled the dent in the back in front of the back tire and filled it with fiberglass and bondo. Painted the car and sold it for $2500 My second Z I bought when I returned to San Diego in December 93, it was a Maroon 78 with 276K miles, I got for $1400. I drove it for another 110K miles, then I parked when I moved back to Guam in 1998 and recovered it from various storage location in 2005. I parked in the driveway from 2005 to late 2007...gave it to my nieghbor. My third Z is a 1973 I paid too much for $6K, it had 98,000 miles but is an automatic. I bought for my daughter...she wanted it but hates because it does not have power steering. So now it sits in the driveway, I am mad it because some punks ripped the up the lock area on the passenger side to get at the $75 stereo. Now it has the old 78Z' place in the driveway...been there since September. Might sell it to buy a 72 with a 383. My latest is a late 71 that is being torn down to be made into a Japanese style street racer with Works over fenders, G-nose, 16' Panasports, Arizona Z suspension parts, 3.1 stroker etc....should be sweet when finished in a year or so. Will not be sold.

Montezuma replied to a topic in Body Kits & Paint
I got a BIN set that we are selling. My friend who works for Nissan in TN owns them and is willing to part with them. They are in the Nissan box and have never been on a car. PM me. -
It is cool....Have fun with and keep it original.

I have friend who can get me in the Zama site all I have to do is get back to Japan. I am planning a trip in the near future. The part that really gets me is that I lived there for 3 years, I drove by that warehouse many times when I was up in that area and I never know those cars were in there. After I saw Alan's photos several months ago, I asked my buddy about it and he so casual about it, thinking that I would not be interested in going. This is my Nissan Mecca, I shall have a pilgrimage to it soon. Great photos.

So that means you will be at Narita which is up in Chiba. You will have to take a long train ride down to Tokyo. There is nothing in Chiba.

Sorry I was falling back my days when I lived there. Roponngi-nightlife district. Autobacs-Japan Pep Boys(better of course), harugiku(spelling might be off)-Sundays they have these kids that come out and look like Anime and there is a real nice shrine there too(history). Auto Zebra is next the the Up Garage that is in Atsugi at the 1&246 highways. Auto Zebra sells Nostalgic cars and Zs. My friend Machida's shop is in Yokohama why down off the 246, his company is called "All Round Players" I think it should be "All Around Players" but something was lost in the translation. When will you be in Japan? I will email my friend and see what cars he currently has at his shop.
-
What do to? It depends what your other interests are other than Zs. Roponngi is alright but I found it not to be too much fun, it was more for the younger crowd and expensive. Things I would do if I had two days in Tokyo: I would get on the train and go to Zama City to Autorest, I would hit up an Autobacs, I would go to Yokosuka Naval Base and visit my friends, I would go to Yokohama to visit my friend Takyuki Machida(Big Z guy who owns a tuner shop), I would go to The Morrigans Pub and have some Guinness Stout, if there on a Sunday maybe go to Harugiku....so much to do.... Maybe go down to the Up Garage and the Auto Zebra. There are plenty of places to eat, shop and drink. The trains are great, you can get on one and get out there and have some fun. Take plenty of money.

Shipping rims is not too bad on price. I used Fedex Ground on some rims I sold. I was lucky because I had some wheel boxes around. You might be able to go to your local tire and wheel dealer and see if they can set aside some wheel boxes for you. The reason I like them is because they are designed to protect the wheel for shipping. Cutting to the chase, shipping from Jersey to Cali is not too expensive under $75.

I was told them came to the US on engines that were shipped from Japan as either rebuild or used. Because they junk cars much sooner in Japan then we do here in the states, they always had lots of engine available. When I lived there, I could not get over the amount of perfectly good looking cars that were in the junk yard to be crushed. Many Z were crushed back in the 80s and the blocks and heads with the Large Nissan were shipped here. I can remember back in the early 90s when you could go to the local pick ur part and find those valve covers sitting on a engine there. I was giving them away to my friend back then....now they are rare. I do see them on Ebay time to time.

Tried to get the system working yesterday but it would not get spark. Anyone ever work with this system? I saw a picture of the system in Lighting Vintage Auto 9 Mag. I was on a G-nose. Anyone with advice would help. Thanks in advance. Got the site for the system from a very knowledge Z car owner: http://www.nagaidenshi.co.jp/index.shtml

Maybe you could recommend that your friend contact a Boxer Rescue, they will find a good home for the breed. They understand the dog, and will place him or her in a loving home. Wish I could take the dog but I have an American Bulldog who is just an energetic and has almost the same living conditions except my dog lives with 4 cats. If your friend truly loves the dog and wants to keep the dog he should think about buying an electric collar....it works great. I rarely have to use the electric on my dog, I use the call button that warns him that he is going to get shocked. He usually responds to the beep(which is what the call button does). I think give more time and training he will be a great friend to the other dogs in the house. Your friend should do what he can to keep his pet.

Good solution to the problem.

Montezuma replied to BillZ260's topic in Non Tech Board
I love Dubai....I always had so much fun there. The Irish Pub in the Crown Plaza is great, TGIH and Poncho Via's in the Arista Hotel are awesome. Some people don't realize what kind of night life there is in that city. I would love to go back there. -
NHRA's John Force injured in accident at Dallas
Montezuma replied to Warren's topic in Non Tech Board
What was looking to be the first Father vs. Daughter final in NHRA Funny Car history turned out to be a tragic day...it just go to show you how fast things can change in the NHRA. I was so looking forward to the Force vs. Force final, the younger Force's car was really hooked up on Sunday. I hope John gets better soon. He is currently sitting 4th in the points and could have made a run on his 15th championship, now it is up to his son-in-law to bring the championship home. -
That dash is capped.

I have an Ultra direct ignition system that my friend sent me from Japan. It came off a L28 3.1. I two total systems and 3 modules, plus Ultra wires. The thing I don't have is instructions, I plan to intall in a N42 3.1 with Mikuni 44s. If it works it will be very interesting. All the web research I have been doing on Ultra comes up saying it is for Jags. Not sure what I got here, but my friend is convinced it will work on the Z again. Any advice would be appreciated.

I used use the Keikyu Line and in my years there never used the JR line. Also I drove most of the places I went. I am sorry I can not help you with that. I think there is a train line that comes close to it but I am not sure of the station.

Up Garage is on the corner of Rt 16 and Rt 246. There are a few ways to approach the store, right next to that Up Garage location is a place called Auto Zebra they used to have a few old Zs there. Up Garage was always a place to stop when I would adventure out to Zama or Atsugi, the only down side is that there was never much for S30s, but still a place worth seeing if you have the time. I plan to back to Japan next summer, I want to get into the private Nissan Collection of historic cars in Zama City. I got a friend who is an executive with Nissan USA who can get me in.

I am going to deliver an N42 to a San Diego Machine shop to have it bored out for 89mm Kamarei pistons with L14 rods and LD crank. I have a shop in mind BUT I was wondering what shops others here might have used. This block is being built for a friend and I want to make sure I am not making any mistakes. San Diego or Orange County recommendations? I have a very experienced engine builder for the rest of the job, I just need a shop for the internals. Thanks in advance.

convert to ele. ingniton from dual points
Montezuma replied to texis30O's topic in Ignition and Electrical
Mine was a dual point as well but I replaced it with the Petronix. I will get you the part number later today when I get to my work computer. -
Congrats on your son being one of few, the proud.... My wife's office over looks the parade grounds, I see all the time and think about all those brave men that passed and reviews upon it. I on other hand get to help the injured service members at the Naval Medical Center, retired sailor myself. I climbed Mt Fuji one fine August day back in 2002, when I was stationed in Yokosuka...great days. Too bad you could not be here for the 29th of April the Westcoast Nationals at Motorsport in Orange is worth the time. As for San Diego being over crowded and dirty....well just like all large metro areas we got our nice parts and our not so nice parts....but over all there is not many finer U.S. cities than this one. The weather should be great, I am sure you are one proud Popa.
