I am not certain this is correct, but I think the diameter and thread pitch of the hydraulic lifter is larger then the diameter and pitch of the solid. Perhaps you could get an adapter somewhere, or have the head welded and retapped for the solid stuff, but I think the cost and frustration would far outweigh the ease of just finding a solid head to begin with.

Supra twin turbo one's would be good. I would spend the money and get a good one. Check the Griffin top to bottom from Road Race engineering, I think it is only 450.00.

I will have to let you know tonight, I am stuck working. Dammit.

I got one that will. FWIW, I made my own bracket and used a dual port one. But I have a stock one that is set up to work on a TO4e, I would probably need to know your bolt spacing to make sure. Let me know. I have a 60 ar compressor housing.

Well the limit I was referring to is the injector, since we aren't sure what size it is. A call to JWT should solve that though. You can run 15 psi, that should not be a problem, as long as you are fueling it right. You should not have to reprogram anything to run more boost, the ecu will get the signal from the MAF and make the appropriate changes needed. Most likely what you have with the two maps is one with more agressive timing and a slightly richer WOT fuel mix. It is the good gas mode, where as the other one is likely able to run off cheap gas. I only have one map in mine, but it is fairly agressive as far as timing goes. Clark set it up for me after several revisions to get me to where I got the car running the way I wanted. It is very responsive off boost, and it hauls the mail on. You would need to send your turbo off to have it upgraded if you want bigger wheels, and expect it to cost 600 to 700 bucks. Get a 360 degree thrust bearing when you do it. You probably really need to get an EGT and install it to tell where you are mixture wise under WOT. You don't want to get over 1600 degree's F or 900 celcius. That will let you know when you are running out of fuel and need larger injectors. You could also have the ecu remapped to work with higher fuel pressure, which is like giving you a larger injector. I am running a 4 bar map (56 psi) with the 420cc injector that gives me the equivalent of a 550 cc injector. So that could give you some extra fuel.

I had the same problem, but if you hit the little x in the corner of the post, it will delete it. You have a PM. Any thoughts on nozzle placement would be helpful too. I got no directions.

I just had to let you know that a "perv" like me could have had some fun with your topic. I mean I just couldn't take it anymore.

JWT stuff works.

Your pic is of a spearco 221, which is what I have, and it flows 1050 cfm at 1.5 psi of pressure drop. If you want one like that, sell the cores you have on ebay and buy one. I am not a fan of a stock intercooler, in case you haven't noticed. My guess is you would spend more in fabrication and welding then it would take to just buy what you want, and I think you would be happier with the spearco. You could also get a griffin from Road Race Engineering, they are the same as the spearco except they use a core like the HKS units, are not quite as thick as the speaco, but are about 450.00. Either would be a better solution, IMO. Good luck no matter which way you go.

Fab up everything now, then send the IC back and you should be able to drop it in there in an hour. Piece of cake man, hell I was down for 10 months. No fun.

No, you should not have any leaks. Think of what you could pull in there under vacuum. Send the thing back.

What thermostat are you running? If you are running a 160, you could be to cool and need to step up to a 180. I run 180's anyway. I have the SM needles in my SU's on my 2.8 with a nice cam and some compression, and I don't have a problem with them. I ran some stock needles, but it did not want to turn the rpms the SM needles do. While they may not be ideal, they are richer needles then stock, which it seems to me you need for an engine that is .5 liters larger then the carb was designed for. I get no popping with the jet nozzle(whatever the term is for the thing) adjusted per the Z therapy specs, which is to get the car warm and adjust for the highest idle. Do not rule out that you could have a vacuum leak causing a problem, and some carb cleaner sprayed around likely places should change your idle if you find a leak.

Yes you need a larger turbo, and I would go with an E series rather then a B, provided the E will fit. Stage 3 or 5 turbine wheel and probably a 60 trim T04e or a 60-1. Does the ECU control boost? I would bet not, which means you could raise it a little, but getting over about 12 to 13 psi is probably pushing the limits. You can go to the 420cc injector, which would help. Also run a nice 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust with a straight thru muffler. I have found this mod to be the biggest bang for the buck on my turbo cars. I dropped almost 9 tenths of a second over my crappy exhaust, which put me down into the 12's. I ran 12.9xx at about 110 mph on regular street tires and pump gas with my old set-up, and you can see my sig for my latest pump gas times, although I was on DR's this time. My 60foot time sucked, but was under 2 seconds. JWT can upgrade the ecu most likely thru a chip revision, which is really simple to do. Pop the cover, pull out the old chip, put in the new one, put the cover back on and you are set. Of course you should remove the ecu from the vehicle. Good luck.

That is a very mature perspective to have for someone your age. Seriously. I did not have that much perspective when I was your age, but I was fearless then. I have since figured out that I am not immortal, and tend to play it safe. Thats not to say I wouldn't put it on someone if I was out in the Z somewhere, but I don't do the bobbing and weaving junk, nor do I do the high speed mess either. That is what the track is for.

I bet that baby is loud too.

We should be able to take that guy out and just beat the everloving crap out of him for being that stupid. Man what a putz. I usually email people who bid on those things and tell them the real scoop.

I am to lazy to wear it all the time. I always think, oh this will just take a second, I don't need to mess with those glasses, and them, blam, crap is in my eye, and it sucks.

FWIW, that is called a swing valve assembly.

I got a single fogger set-up, but no directions. Can anyone tell me how to wire it up? Or email me or fax me directions. I have no idea how to wire it up, but I have a microswitch that works off the gas pedal. Any help would be appreciated. I am having a hard time getting info from Holley.

what is does is there is very hot air inside the engine already, this blows very cold air into it, cooling down the engine. Thats the response I got from my question. Oh yeah this guy knows his stuff alright.
-
What did you do to the 280ZX engine to get 200 hp? They were only rated at 135 from the factory. Also how does that thing cool the air? I sent that email to him, lets see what he says.

http://www.goldenzyears.com/ Go there, thats the address on the dyno chart. I think I need to email him and tell him my sport450 is running out of airflow, and see if this will help.

Man I missed this thread. I tend to agree with the position taken by Your car is slow, in that these people did not intend to kill anybody. In fact I am sure the thought never entered their minds. Having said that, though, I have always said that I think if you want to street race, you accept responsibility for your actions, and I think the people should be punished. The whole thing sucks, its sad, and tragic and all that, but we do have a system of laws to deal with it, and ultimately they will be punished by thier peers, and conscience. I disagree with the idea of having a track around helping prevent this sort of thing. We have a 1/4 mile track outside of Bham, several 1/8th mile tracks, a 1/4 mile track in montgomery, an 1/8th mile track in huntsville, and yet we still have a huge street racing scene here. I get a lot of static from some of the died in the wool racers who think I am to conservative, but I generally take my car to the track. The bottom line is that street racing has been glamorized by Hollywood and kids think it is kool, and it is also a social event. More often then not when I have gone down to watch I see cars I could spot car lenghts in the 1/4 mile, give them the go, and still beat them. They are slow, riced out POS. Most of the fast car guys go out of town to a secluded location, like the interstate or something like that. Street racing is dangerous, and as this story/case shows, the risks are very real, and the impact is lifelong. I personally would not want to have to wake up and look at myself in the mirror every morning knowing I killed a couple of people and caused irreparable damage to another due to a foolish and childish activity. Jail is one thing, living with it is another. I guess it all boils down to personal preference. Are you willing to take the risks and accept the responsibility?
