  1. If you really need a vacuum diagram, you might be able to get one from a radiator shop. The computerized ones have access to all that info. Maybe they would sell you a printout. The disgram in the other topic was correct for my car. BYW, Do you get heat from the dash vents? I was told you can't, but don't see a reason why you couldn't.
  2. Well, I take that last one back. Actually, they have a 1962 250 GTO on the list, but that's all.
  3. www.exoto.com makes jighly detailed creplicas of famous cars like GT-40, Cobra, etc. They have a category called "Le Mans", but no GTO! You think the "F-guys" are the problem? Anybody ever check out the site? They would probablly want $300-400 for a GTO replica, but it would probablly be worth it.
  4. There are 2 vacuum lines going to the intake manifold. There is a nice diagram here, near the bottom: http://www.hybridz.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=000841 BTW, what did you do tto the carbon cannister, just take it out?
  5. Larry- For the Datsun hatch, all you need is to push down on the latch machanism's button. You'll see when you get it out- just 2 screws. I used the MG pushbutton because you use the arm right off the Datsun pushbutton. The hole in the arm needed to be filed to match the flats on the MG pushbutton plug, then I mounted it with the arm pointing forward. With the key in, turn it to the 3-o'clock position & push in to open; 9-o'clock to 'lock'. No need to get a pictures- you can't see in there & the outside photo wouldn't help. Oh, You'll need to file the hole in the hatch to match the MG pushbutton too, but be careful not to slip and make a pattern in paper or whatever so the hole matches & the lock won't be loose.
  6. the car has a '90s dash and leather seats, and non-spoked rims. Not bad rims, probably much less expensive than spoked ones. I like his treatment of the engine area. Maybe you could fabricate a cover for the throttle linkages that looks like 12 Weber carbs? He did use the word 'recreation under the third-last picture (of the back)
  7. Do you have the pictures I sent you? On the back you'll see the plug with hex head bolt on the end. It's got a metric thread (3 x 1, I think) but you can replace it with something longer to attach an arm or whatever you like. When you turn the key, the whole plug turns 90 deg. To attach the lock to the door, there's a large, round retaining nut with the little ears on it. the threaded part of the lock isn't very long, so it's best if you only go through 1 layer of skeet steel and/or the glass door skin. You'd probably want to rivit any brackets with belcranks or whatever to the door separately from the lock.
  8. Do the Civic trunk pulls have a finger hook on 'em? I thought they consisted of only a button like the Datsun hatch has. I'm still working on the MG pulls (need a piece of 3-inch alum. angle.)

If you had about 20 feet of glass/carbon mat and a big roll of 3" carbon tape, you'd be as well-equipped as my friend's model boat shop, except he uses West Systems epoxy. The only difference is that we got some 'tropical formula' hardener to use in the summertime. BTW, I found my body parts! when moving my brother's barn contents to the new house. I think the lowering springs went to the scap guy, but I found a set of braided spark plug wires! The hood was nice on top, but the edges looked a little cheap since you could see the matt on the underside & the skin was overal kinda thin. I think I might epoxy the underside for looks later.

WOW, you posted a reply to me message before I even got done editing the typos! Talk about the speed of the Internet...

I might be a little behind on things(holidaze).... Are you using the Mazda hinges for the hood? Is there any answer concerning hood hinges?
  12. Thanks, Larry, My Blue Ray parts have been in the attic of the barn, waiting for me to finally get a donor to fit them on. So next spring, I will. It should look like the things will be straight enough to fit easily ( I hope.)
  13. Here's a link to some MERA info: http://www.fiero.net/mera/ Look familiar?
  14. I thought that those guys were selling the molds to each other to keep the F-guys from catching on or up to them! You can't get in trouble until they CATCH you!
  15. I was just thinking (something I do occasionally ... If the F-guys wanted to shut down the creation of replicas, why don't they go after the companies that are making these things? They have to come from somewhere! That way there'd only be so many replicas and without support, if yours got damaged, you'd probably just junk it because you can't get new body parts or whatever... Well, maybe I shouldn't have said that. Well, I suppose replica companies will go underground now...
  16. Yellow dots are better than rust spots. Maybe make the dots in the shape of a badge? Hey 250- They probably made about 10 250 GTOs in 1962. They were made from 1962 to about 1967, which is when the GT40s and Shelby/AC Cobras started winning races.

    250 GTO

I hear that guy on Ebay with the totally accurate GTO replica is going to try to auction his again, after they (f-guys) made him pull the car off. You could probably contact him and both would be happy.
  18. Why not cover your red GTO replica with YELLOW dots?? that should get them F-guys really upset!
  19. Iowa....Hmmmmm.... Isn't Captain James T. Kirk from Iowa too? Teo- They should throw you suit out because the idiot broke the law himself! The law of common sense!
  20. About $200 for complete check & fix. They lubed & adjusted the cables and the flaps and removed the A/C pump. The bad news was you don't get bi-level heat in the Z, heat only comes out at the bottom ( and the defroster.)
  21. Did you know that in 1964, you could buy a 250GTO for about $10,000? Now it's worth 3-4 million, which is 300-400 times the original cost. Maybe that's why the F-guys are upset!? In just 35 years your $15,000 replica would be worth $5-$7 milion! LOL! On the other hand, How many 1834 Ford replicas do you see at car meets? They're titled as 1934 Fords! Even got the blue oval and everything, but you don't see Ford, Chevy, Mercury, Duesenberg, etc. chasing those guys. they're probably bragging to each other about how many people are building copies of THEIR cars... OK, so do we have any legal types are in here who knows why you should or shouldn't be afraid of 'F' attourneys? Copyright/patent infringements? I dpon't think we're breaking any copyright laws, but some of them cars do have the look of the real one (brings to mind the Xerox v. Microsoft lawsuit of the 80's.) that's my 3.14¢ (I'm a scientist)
  22. Man, Where do you find these deals!?? Around here, garage sale means old baby/kid clothes, some ashtrays, a coffee maker, hair dryer and a broken lawnmower! Ok, I once got a boom box for $1 (broken tape player, but radio was good) and a big coffee pot I use for camping, but never any good car stuff. Do you, like, go to EVERY garage sale or what? How about collecting all the stuff, then selling it on here, to people who would appreciate it?
  23. I couldn't find the RED GTO 250 Coupe using the Item #, but the second item# was OK. BTW, which steering wheel are you using in your GTO? I have a Grant classic #201. It feels funny because it's not a round cross-section & it has chromed spoke with reound holes in them.
  24. This is a little off topic, but... what would be the correct steering wheel to use in a GTO conversion? I have a Grant Classic #201, which looks nice, but feels funny because it doesn't have a round cross-section.
  25. Do you get a ladder to climb down into it? I still prefer my regular car to that. It probably fits in a parking space better & has more trunk space. Try getting your chick in there!?
