  1. 1. He doesn't have the radiator cap door in the hood or the vent on the back. 2. Ask him what he used for hood hinges. 3. Ask him how he adapted the pushbutton door handles. 4. He's got mirrors on both doors. 5. Paint is too nice. 6. raised box for shifter box is missing. Polished shift gate too. 7. I don't think they had CD stereos in the 60s. 8. that's not a 'red head' engine! ARRGH! Since when did Ferrari use chrome valve covers or air cleaners!? Any questions? How did he fool the 'Pros' with that thing??
  2. The paint in the last picture looks a little shiny, no? BTW, which car did the "Speed Racer" from the TV series drive? I say it was a Testarossa.
  3. I found out that the heater was actually blowing hot air. But only the heater ducts behind the console and the defroster ducts worked. I wanted hot air to come out the center dash vents. I'll leave the dash vents for next year. However, I also found out that the water was coming out the tube to the expansion tank, and ends up on the road because there wasn't an expansion tank in there! You could see the cooling tubes inside the top radiator tank, so I put a gallon of water in.
  4. I'm looking for a power steering rack from a '93 RX-7 to do the power steering conversion. Checked all the boneyards around, they all said NO & then recommended this one import boneyard. Called that place and they said No too. Is there a good place, maybe mail order, to get one? The dealer can get me one, but it's $1500 new & didn't know of any remanufacturing places.
  5. Yup, hoses. Mine hose ends kept cracking at the vacuum tank, dashpot & solenoids, so I replaced all but the one going into the dash yesterday (10/15) One was so hard/brittle, I broke a piece off to take to the auto parts store! Until then, all vacuum-operated flaps/doors were working OK. I will look into the water valve and maybe get some professional help (for the car, not me )
  6. my 78 280Z will blow air that's slightly warm, but I would expect it to be on the hot side of warm. Is there anything I should check to see if it's blocked or something? As far as I know, all the controls work right.
  7. Tomahawk- Did you get the pictures of the MG latches I sent? I think I'd like to work on the MG latch system for a while. I think it would be a better system because the mechanism attaches to the pushbutton mechanism, not the door, and the threaded part of the handle goes in far enough to put a sheet metal bracket on there too. You'd only need to flatten the door metal in the area of the handle to get the securist attachment.
  8. Dude, that doohicky is just a bellcrank that uses the Honda pushbutton cylinder to push on the one end of the lever (part . This is connected through the 1/4" bolt as an axle to part C (which seems to be missing the hole for the pushrod), which is where your pushrod goes down to the door latch. Only problem is, my doorlock doesn't directly connect to a pushrod! It doesn't match the diagrams in my Haynes book. Instead the lock cylinder has an arm that goes into a slot connected to the pushrod. So I would first have to replace the whole doorlatch, probably, or at least the cylinder mechanism to the kind with the pushrod. About getting locked out: Why not just go through the back door? Also, on my car, you have to lock the door from the outside using the key; more lockout protection.
  9. It looks like that doohicky replaces the stock door handle and the 'cylinder' goes through the steel into the doohicky. How are you supposed to lock the doors, using the original door locks? if you used something like the MG boot lock/pull, you disable the lock using the key.
  10. OK, but will they fit the Hood?? Hmmmmm?
  11. Is there a friendly source for all those Ferrari stickers & such you need for your GTO? All I got so far is 2 'S.F.' fender bstickers, but would like to get some wheel hub stickers & one for the horn button. You can get the prancing horse off Ebay. I am asking this because I heard dealers don't really want to sell you the stickers & such if you don't really have a Ferrari.
  12. Can you just get a (generic) horn button? After you take the plate off the back of the "ugly black thing," a.k.a. "Horn Pad," you could screw on a spacer ring & then another horn button.
  13. No thanks, Grog- I like the polished metal, so I'm keeping the stock steering wheel. I was hoping that it would have a flat ring instead of a tubular one because I was thinking of rivetting on some nice wood and make my own wood steering wheel! The tubular right is probably therebecause it has a (foam?) grip.
  14. I looks like you can remove the plate that is screwed onto the underside of the stock horn button & attach something over the top.
  15. I polished the spokes on the stock Z steering whee, but he HUGE, stock button doesn't look so cool. Is there another kind of horn button that would stick up less? At the least, i'm going to remove the 'Z' logo and stick in something with the black horsie on it
  16. If it was a Buzz noise, I'd say check the exhaust system. But a humm... the only thing I can think of is the fuel pump.
  17. Is there any idea of where one can get those things, short of going to a Honda dealer? Some online place, maybe?
  18. OK.,... Where do you get your anti-sieze? I went to Home Depot and those BOZOS don't even know what it is! "Dry Carbon?" I'm hoing to the hardware store later, maybe they have little tubes, when I need a whole can.
  19. The Sunbeam cap is more round than the Jag one. I will keep it in mind if the Jag one doesn't work out.
  20. Just found this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1866720571 It looks real nice; best one next to a Monza cap. Too bad I got a jag cap on the way, sometime....
  21. Gee, that was a real generic response, huh? BTW n/a means 'nonfunctional afterburner?'
  22. Touring: to go driving on country roads and highways at speed while enjoying the air in your face, through your hair and excitement as the scenery goes by in an almost-blur. You want slow? try a horse-drawn carriage. Real fast isn't for the road. Race your car on a racecourse. But, around here, most country roads have a speed limit of about 55-60.
  23. I've met some people since I got my car, and one of the first things they say is, "Don't expect to race that car, it was meant for touring, not racing.? Is that what Datsun originally designed it to be? I like to think of it as a faster touring car.
