  1. You could always buy a wiring specialties harness. I get discounts from them as well.
  2. I can respect that. I'm glad that they treated you well, but I was not so lucky.
  3. Very nice. You wasted money on the mount kit though. You can use random mounts for the RB20. The trans mount and driveshaft line up correctly. You could have just gotten generic mounts from your local auto parts store. Now the WS harness, can't go wrong with it. Wired up a customers awhile ago with a RB25, what a cinch.
  4. Infinity 5 is like 1500 bucks, then the PNP harness is another 300 bucks. Then not to mention it doesn't have a MAP sensor. And a 10x10 lambda table. I have a big distrust with AEM now. A while ago, I was working on a V6 civic. The car was DUMPING fuel into Cylinder 5. I called them, and they said it was an issue with setup. I sent it back (they charged me 125 dollars), and they fixed a "power driver". Keep in mind, this soldier bought this unit from me before he deployed, and I finally opened it when he was about to return (a year). I told them this, and told me to send it in. When I got it back, it DID THE EXACT SAME THING. I called to complain, at that point they told me they found no fault in the unit. I asked them why they charged me for fixing a "power driver" if nothing was wrong. So fed up, I find a spare output, and changed it to fire off cylinder 5. And voila, fixed. AEM's customer support is terrible. Sure, I'm just one guy, but how many other "one guy"'s like myself have been treated this way? EMU on the other hand, superb customer support. When I first tried their DET3 unit, I was having some issues, a quick phone call was all it took, but I digress. EMU is constantly updating their software, since I've been onboard, they have updated their software 3-4 times already. They take in suggestions from customers on their forums, and they try to add it in the next software update. They aren't a big powerhouse like AEM currently is, but I know they will eventually overtake them.
  5. Unfortunately the EMU does not do transcontrol, however their new unit (when it does release) supposedly will do transcontrol as well. But I don't know when the EMUPro will be out. However, have you ever looked into one of these units? http://www.latentsolutions.com/suprastickuv.html Coolest feature of the supra shift? Paddle shifters lol
  6. I have sold a few colin's kits. Nothing for RB to VQ though. The adapter piece is nice, but you end up using a bunch of random parts. You use the release bearing sleeve from a v6 200sx,and the VQ release bearing. Shifter is definitely the hardest piece of the puzzle. Plus it takes a few weeks before you get the parts. EDIT: I've ordered two 2jz kits, and one 1uz kit. But I'd imagine it would be the same stuff for the RB stuff.
  7. I'm not sure. I haven't tested it that way yet. No cars that I own use the factory ECU. I would imagine it would work if you used like a pass through style connection
  8. Bingo. There's actual software you use, and you can fine tune it. I was just trying to find a good all around sensor (since i'll be using this on different cars to use for tuning).
  9. Anywhere you want it. You can filter out the knock noises. So worst case scenario, you could mount it to the bolt on the header. Definitely not ideal though
  10. ECUMasters All the way. http://ecumasterusa.com/ I use a MS3 in my wife's miata, and an EMU in my R32. I'm tuning a 2jzgte VVTi in the next few weeks running one. Absolutely love it. Has onboard MAP sensor, Flex Fuel sensor is like 50 bucks, it even has a built in wideband controller. Just need to wire it up, and you're good to go. I've worked a lot with AEM, and the new infinity is very nice, but highly overrated in terms of price. Check out the EMU, I'm also a dealer for the unit (shameless plug), but I can vouch for it. If you've ever messed with any tuning software (AEM/TunerStudio/Haltech) EMU will be a breeze. They are constantly updating the software, and making it better and better. Also, EMU supports traction control if you want to use it. I've never used it though.
  11. I have mine, been playing around with it, and different knock sensors.
  12. Very nice. Truck coils are so nice. I just the coil cover from LRBSpeed. I think it set me back 60 bucks?
  13. Got another order in. Thanks fellas!
  14. LoL, i'm sorry to hear that. Congrats on being able to one of the few that successfully escape the black hole.
  15. Very nice! Where are you in TX?
  16. Another order is in! Thanks guys!
  17. Hey guys, A friend of mine has been building these knock lights that work really, really well. They are programmable, to use ANY knock sensor. The only down side of this unit is that you have to wire in your own knock sensor, and you have to do some testing on it. Not a big deal. It comes with everything you need including the the USB cable for programming. It comes with 5-6 ft of shielded wire ready to go as well too. Features: LEDs to show intensity of the knock It has a HEADPHONE jack (my favorite feature. One wire to the knock gauge, and the other in to the Aux in of a radio). It supports both digital and analog out. He sales these units at 109 a pop, but obviously there is a discount as units sell. But I just wanted to gauge interest to see if anyone else would be interested.
  18. Yeah, but everyone wanted a drop in setup, which is why i recommend the 2 5/8's as you already know
  19. If you need those billet pieces, let me know, I'll give it to you at costs for the sake of installing these gauges.
  20. Check your O2 sensor. When I used Pat's guide, I didn't have power on the O2. Secondly coolant temp sensor. I couldn't get the speedo to work on my 76. So speedhut gauges went it For the gauge lights, it's most likely the fuse. They are the passenger side kick panel
  21. I just realized you're in TX. Whereabouts? I live in Killeen
  22. Been so long ago I don't recall. But it was a stock Holset. I didn't know the exducer could be swapped?
  23. I used a HX35 and hated it. Super, duper late spool. But I know a big part of it was my downpipe. My downpipe was only a meager 2.5, then it became 3.0. If I could have gone a complete 3" I know it would have helped in spool. The HX35 is a bit closer to a GT35R though. With my HX35 I began seeing boost at about 3000, and full boost closer to 4500. Fortunately enough it was in a S30 chassis, so it was pretty light, and off boost was not too bad. I eventually swapped the turbo to a generic ebay T3, and was much happier with it. However, I was only shooting for the 300 HP mark.
  24. I can't help you with the ZX. For the Z though, I used mounts from car from the 70s. I know in my thread I posted it up on what I used.
  25. Yeah, personally I had LRB Speed make me a coil cover, and I just welded bosses for the coils. LRB Speed pre-drilled the portion for the plug wires. However, I'm also using LS1 coils, and not the truck coils. He did the coil cover for about 70 shipped, then I bought the bungs online for 25 bucks, and had a shop weld it up for another 30 bucks. I bought the coils on the forums for 100 bucks, had to buy wires 65 bucks, and the coil covers 130. So about 300 bucks complete. Just had to wire it up myself
