  1. The two most popular schematics that I've found on wiring the stock 82 dizzy to MS1v3 is as shown...but what I have coming out of the distributor is a white, black, green, and red wires. I bought the DIY harness with the twisted pair coming off of pin 24. Can anyone tell me exactly which wires connect to the dizzy? I think the red will go to 12v switched...white to white (out of the pair) with an inline 1k resistor and then tied to my red 12v wire. Does black wire out of the twisted pair connect to black on dizzy or with the white? I've run a seperate ground for the dizzy to go to chassis ground. Thanks in advance for the clarification.
  2. I'm just waiting on an AEM dry flow filter and I'll be finished plumbing mine up. I did run the cold side behind the radiator because the intercooler I was working with was easiest plumbed this way with a 2 1/4" in and 2 1/2" out. I ran 2" pipe for the hot side and 2 1/2" cold side. Combined with my .48 turbines t3, I believe this setup is going to make a very responsive and quick spooling system. Also note that I'm getting my air filter out of that hot ass engine bay. I stuck with a trusty ole blitz bov because the sound is hardly matched, in my opinion. Between this and I'm gonna try to pull off an unmuffled 3" exhaust, I plan on scaring all the v8 mustangs around here. Lol
  3. Just finished plumbing fmic and gonna start making connections to megasquirt this weekend! I'm waiting on an AEM dry flow filter if you'll notice I got it out ta that hot ass engine bay.
  4. I've got one too. 50 bucks
  5. A cheap BOV will leak within one year, if not right out of the box. When you spend so much effort boosting our intake charge, it's all wasted as it spews into the engine bay
  6. With the connector unplugged, I would also try checking for continuity between every wire on both sides of the plug to ground to see if you are shorted out somewhere like that. On the switch side, I would go thru some motion in the switch and column while checking to see if its a moving part causing it.
  7. Is the charge light on the dash working?
  8. I got mine thru nissan before i went maxifuse
  9. I welded the yoke off of the turbo driveshaft to my s30 driveshaft and it fits perfect. You'll need that, but $500 bucks is fair price. You will also either have to modify the shifter or console, though. Also, I believe the BW 5speed has a lower 5th gear than the N/a trans if low rpms is what your shooting for.
  10. They are each 13". One has 11 blades and the other 10. They will runn two speeds both can be controlled by the facrory relay. I haven't looked it up, but I'm guessing at a max 10 amps.
  11. Here's an idea for all you guys out west cruising at 120 °....I got these fans off of a 2013 Altima that I had in the shop that was totalled out by the insurance company. I also had a shroud laying around and grabbed the factory relay to control it. Even with some serious cutting, couod not fit the shroud, but the fans themselves wedged in perfectly. Im gonna cut these and just run one, because it was gonna be in the way of my same sided intercooler plumbing, but would work well for those of you with inlet/outlet on each side of intercooler or a n/a setup. I believe the same fans go on Altimas and Maximas back to 2008, so a used one shouldn't be terribly hard to find. New could be aquired from Nissan. Anyway, just thought I'd share.
  12. Well to bring this back up....If I were to buy a .50 trim t04e compressor and wheel, would I be able to put them on the previous mentioned turbo? The only possible problem I could think of would be the shaft length as I don't know if the "depth" of the t4 wheel would be too wide to adapt to mine. Has anyone tried this before?
  13. Ok, I got it. For future reference, I'm gonna post the solution...a different computer. Lol When I first tried to load it, I was getting the 64-bit error, so I downloaded the 029y4a folder and the 64-bit firmware from DIY and copied it into the 029 folder. That's when it started to communicate, but with no luck. Anyway, I borrowed someone's older laptop running a 32-bit Vista and it went thru on the first try. Idk. ..but I'm happy. Thanks fellas
  14. I don't know fellas. I've went thru every way I've found to upgrade firmware with no avail...The Megatune route ( which I wasn't going to use for tuning ) auto-upgrade throws the 64 bit error on my windows 7. So I downloaded the 029y4a for 64 bit OS and copied it and that's where the screenshot comes from when trying. I tested the loopback on my USB to serial adapter with cable on and off the Megasquirt and it tests good thru the hyperterminal program, but when I go thru the DIY instructions on upgrading using hyperterminal, the "boot" mode does not automatically come up when I power up Megasquirt. (By the way, I am doing all of this testing with a hot 12v battery sitting here connected thru the supplied the bought harness from DIY, so no rigging is involved here. And all power supply tests have been successful) I also just got done re-soldering all connections to the max232 with perfect cones on each side and even soldered in the boot jumper. I am about ready to pull my hair out, so if anyone has any ideas, they would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
  15. I agree with rejracer. I love my Z, but they just don't have the return yet. If mine were a a 67-70 Nova or Camaro in the same condition, it would bring 5x what my car would now.
  16. I'll check that out, Billy, thanks. I've got aggrivated with it and put it down to work on my motor, but I'm gonna mess with it some more this weekend. Which position on the board is that max232? (Q1, Q2,etc...)
  17. Like Metro said, I believe you should get an engine alone for around $500, but better yet, a running car for around 15.
  18. Very well may be...I was thinking the same thing and tried the upload without the jumper and it said the samething. The jumper I installed feels tight between the two holes, but I didn't solder it so I could pull it right back out. Should I solder it or maybe get some 22 awg wire for a tighter connection?
  19. Does anyone know what this screen shot is trying to tell me? I have built a MS1 V3 board and I'm trying to download the 029y4a fir mware to it and it's giving me this crap. lol I have been studying and have spent several hours on my computer that's running Windows 7 to get the 64 bit firmware error solved and it's finally communicating, but it's telling me this when I go to load it to Megasquirt.
  20. ok, I was gonna wire the js3 output for relay control to a fan, but the directions on diyautotune shows a resistor and a transistor in the proto area on the board. I put in a 1k resistor for the mod but the only transistors I have left are Q22-23 and they don't look like the one they have in the pic. what are my options to fix this and use js3/pin3 for my relay?
  21. I m building the ms1 v3 board. That is exactly what I was looking for in Snows post. I was already gonna wire js3 for a relayed fan control, but I will definitely jump the tip125s for the dedicated injector power. Should I go ahead and put the cap between 2 and 6 or wait to see if I have the reset problem? Are alot of you experiencing this?
  22. Ok everyone, I'm finally in the process of building the PCB of my ecu. I just had a few questions for those of you who have done this. I got thru the power supply and communication sections of the build last nite.(per the megamanual guide) power tests well and have not checked communication with megatune yet. What I'm wondering is if there are anything specific to our cars, running an l28et with CAS in the distributor, that I need to modify while I'm doing all my soldering? I'm assuming the jumper from ign to js10 is just for MS2? Also, if I decide to run the 'extra' code, can I just download the firmware and install it later without modifying the board? I'm still trying to find the real benefits of it. Thanks to all, in advance.
  23. I would definitely save your map and try. However, I have MS1 3.0 I would end up doing the same as mentioned above by opening it in tunerstudio and manually putting in the parameters to build my map. I'm about to go check out your profile, but are you pretty well pleased with the setup? Anything you woulda done differently? I'm putting my engine and all together next month, so I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row. Lol
  24. Hmmm, in some odd ways, that makes sense
  25. Ok thanks fellas. I'll try that. I've heard there was a thread with alot of map downloads with different setups, but haven't been able to find it. Idk if its in my settings for this website, but I actually never have any luck with the search function for some reason. It hardly ever getsvany results... :/
