  1. I just ordered MSnS for my L28et. It will still be a couple months before I start putting it all back together, but I wanna get really familiar with MS beforehand. My setup is gonna be a stock internal bottom end with a T3 .60/.48 turbo prolly breaking in at 10 psi or less, 440cc supra injectors, 60mm TB and a N/A cam out of a 76. Would this be a good base map for startup or should I keep looking for something closer to what I have? I will have to play with MS and learn as I go, but just to get it running and somewhat tameable? Thanks in advance.
  2. In that second pic, two fingers can be fully inserted into the compressor outlet, as with the nissan unit, the third pic shows my fingers as far as they'll go. Please hold the jokes fellas as this was the best way to demonstrate measurement with what i have. I'm sorry but these are from being 'the same housing'
  3. Correct. Hence, needing a different turbo to begin with. Lol but here's what I am talking about between the difference in 2 garret t3. 60 trim compressor turbo housings. Same wheel size....
  4. Again, I appreciate all of the response, as this has been a very informative conversation. My 275 whp goal was not as important as being in a 12 sec bracket. ( plenty fast for a driver, IMO) The issan turbo i have had no wheels to measure, but according the wheel chart posted, all t3. 60 trim compressors will have the same wheel size. Difference in size, being in different trim. Ergo, if you can find the specs by part number or however on a factory turbo, assuming it hasnt been monkeyed with, you should be able to tell wheel size. According to this chart anyway. But yes, the turbine wheel from the. 48 ford housing fit perfectly without modification in the. 63 nissan housing. With all of that being said, I am still convinced that this larger compressor with the same wheel size will flow better than the nissan unit. I love your idea, Tony, about the quicker spool and more bottom end making for a more responsize street car. Think I'm gonna go that route and after some research, I'm gonna go ahead and throw in my n/a cam out of my 76. I'm gonna trow out the concern on overall hp at this point. But again, thanks, fellas.
  5. The above shot is after I lowered it. Also, there's a nice of the h4s and leds.
  6. I would recommend googling your local Dupont dealer and buying from them. They will be able to help you get exactly what you need and will warranty the product for life. If it's properly applied.
  7. Ive seen one done out of an L6 nissan, but couldnt find the pic...anyway, heres what i would do
  8. Ok u got me, i dont know everything about turbos. Lol But i do appreciate all of ur responses, its all very informative. I did believe that the larger compressor would flow better than the nissan unit, but am I wrong? Standard t3 wheel size on both sides. I have the .63 hot side on it now, but i can come up the wastegate for the .48, if it will be that beneficial. Like i said, i'm not shooting for huge numbers, just a 12 second street car. I do love the idea of more low end and quicker spool, but I didnt know if it would outweigh the small amount of extra heat. ( however, it will be intercooled) What started out with a good idea has now turned into something more...what would you all do without spending any more large amounts of money? Btw, snow, how much boost were you running on your 12.6 pass?
  9. I really wanted to run that .48 turbine, but the 5 bolt pattern on it doesnt match up to my internal wastegate housing. If u believe it to be that beneficial, Tony, would I be better off to find another wastegate housing and run the .48 or is it that much difference? Also, I have the n/a cam out of my 76 and read that was good for another 500 rpm on the curve. Would this be a good route to take? Overall numbers are not my main goal as is at least a 12.9 quarter time.
  10. I will let you all know in a couple months if this as good idea as I believe it will be. The stock t3 on my l28et was missing some parts, so I needed to come up with one for my turbo swap into a 76. My buddy had a Garrett a/r60 m11 that came off an 88 SVO that I got for free. It has .60 trim on compressor side and .48 on the exaust, so I used my .63 exaust housing with internal wastegate from stock turbo. The m11 has an oil/water cooled center, so it should last a while on a timer. I know it's not gonna make huge power over stock, but if it spools as well as I think it will, I think it will be a good cheap option for all of us wanting about 275 whp. That's what I'm shooting for at 14-15psi. I know that it will not have the capability of the common t4 upgrade, but like most here, on a working man budget, you can see the compressor size difference and these Garrett's can commonly be found around $150. And I think it will last alot longer than an ebay special. I will post progress when I get it all put together.
  11. Hey all. I was hoping the stock actuator, bracket, and rod thats been pulled off to go external laying around. I will do 30 shipped to 35962. Thanks.
  12. There is one on the birmingham craigslist if you search 280z. Its motor only for 300.
  13. Ive got the whole harness out of an 82 zxt for 75+shipping
  14. It's a 40 yr old car...It's probably seen more than one hail storm, basketball on top of it, or fat chick in it's day. Any amount of pressure would leave dents in the sheetmetal on these cars or even after a repair from most of the body men I've seen would leave a 'wavy' panel behind him.
  15. That a great response, I really do appreciate all your guys time. I think I'll just go with ms2. Also it should have extra ground otput signal for electric fans? If any of you guys have any paint and body questions, ask me those. That's my specialty. Lol

  17. I was reading Moby's writeup on the MsnS install and seen that he built a resistor pack to the injectors. Does ms1 with extra code not have a setting to choose high or low impedence injectors? I'm trying to weigh out the differences between this and ms2 and if the difference is worth it for me. Thanks
  18. I think I'm just gonna break down and order the Ms2 kit and and IAT sensor. I'll wait on the stim and relay board and build a harness. Also, I think I'm gonna have to get that USB to serial adapter as I don't have a DB9 port on my laptop. All the parts I have to sell should almost pay for it. Thanks fellas!
  19. I'll use the dizzy from an 82 with internal crank sensor. Sorry for the newb questions as this is my first turbo set up. Is the "extra" code for the MS1 something that can be downloaded to the ecu? And what exactly is the stim for? I know ur all laughing right now but I've been reading some on the DIY site and havn't easily found the answers I am looking for. I'm gonna have lots of unused parts for sale or would trade for a minimal MS setup that I could use if anyone is interested.
  20. Hey guys, I've been planning the l28et swap into my 76 for about 3 months now, researching and gathering new parts. Rebuilding engine, and refreshing trans. Now it's down to the swap and how to control it. I know through others experience, MS is the way to go, but I'm on a super tight budget because of wife and two young girls. I have everything that ran on a stock 82 zxt, but was wanting to run about 14 psi of boost max. I have already gathered 440cc injectors, but I'm sure that will overload the engine without a tuneable ecu. What I'm wondering is, what is the bare minimum that I should have to buy from DIY to control my engine. I'm going to use my stock distributor, coil, and crank sensor, but I wanna do away with AFM. I've got the 60mm throttle body with tps and I can build my own harness. I know that I'll have to get a tuning cable, but I don't know if it will be neccesary for the stim. Would the MS1 kit be feasible for this amount of boost without controlling the spark? I would love to have the 3.0, but like I said, budget is the main factor. I am gonna part out my harness, ecu, and afm to help pay for the MS. Sorry for rambling, but all input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
