it's a track car so there really isn't anything else in the car lol, no radio no working wipers so kinda hard to test except the lights

i think i am just going to buy a reman. alternator and put it in and see if that fixes the problem... otherwise who knows

I was going to drive the z around to a friend's house and it was getting dark so of course I was going to use the lights. Car started right up and idled fine, but as soon as i turned on the headlights, or even just the foglights the car instantly died. It wasn't like the revs died off slowly, the car instantly died completely when I did this. I couldn't even flick it fast and flick it back and keep it running, the process was literally instantaneous. Any ideas what could be causing this? It's not like a parasitic drain that would slowly make the car run down and stop, but just like a smack in the face. Any ideas?

yeah i dont know all the technical stuff... but that is one of the generic ebay cores sold by all the folks, so it's from the same factory that makes all the ebay junk... they must have tested it at one point. I guess only way to see is to test it and find out

oh well, I got one at a good price. I asked around about the XSPOWER one and people didn't seem to recommend it at the time. Ad claims .2-.5psi pressure drop @15psi which is all i would be running so i couldnt imagine it could be that bad.

i live in decatur and i have definitely not seen that car around... but then again it could have changed a lot... only one i ever seen in decatur was a baby blue 240z with panasports. was gorgeous

storage space out the window eh? right now i'm looking at a 510 I don't really want another 2 Z cars lol. I have no way to pay for them or anywhere to store 2 cars. I do have space to store 1 more car though

thanks for all the awesome info, reps all around. I have concluded manufacture date 12/75 HLS30283966 (so assuming its a 76 model year car) made in 75 75-76 door striker/latch thing has volt/fuel gauge, but looks different than 77-78 one so assume 76 everything points to 1976

it's GA so the car is registered without a title (old cars dont need title) but on the registration it has the VIN from the old title. I need to see if ican just reregister the car with the other VIN

I think i can still read the door one, the one in the engine bay is easy to see, it's in the shop but i'm prob picking it up tomorrow

the car was originally junked, the previous previous owner got the key stuck in the ignition and the car had some rust so he junked it. Then the previous owner got it from the junkyard and did some repairs and modifications and then I got it after him. Probably something about the car being put in the junkyard could have made for the switching up?

raised as opposed to what? I mean the rear area is higher than the floorpan area of course, but I have a fuel cell back there so I can't do the comparison for full/mini spare tire area comparison if that makes any sense.
