  1. What about a cage? I think it might not be easy to get to 2k with all that stuff, ei 4l60e, ford 9 in. Even so, you can easily have a great power to weight ratio, if thats what you are looking for.
  2. Id buy it. Its in a lot better shape then mine is, but mine isnt considered that bad either...
  3. Yeah, Im probably going to section the pan and make it wider, and more shallow. That way I still have the same volume of oil, just in a different shape. The IHI will stay on there until I feel like its time to upgrade. I have several turbos that are bigger and better, but I like the IHI for a street car. It spools up really fast, and makes for a car thats more fun to drive.
  4. Haha, looks like a decent laugher. Im gonna see it.
  5. Good thinkin' sir. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=129211 There it is Did some work on the gas tank, and the front mount IC. Pictures coming soon.
  6. I started a project tread in the project forum. Its titled "Project 230ZT" I will be posting updates and pictures there from now on. I would still appreciate input either here or via pm.
  7. More pictures. Thats the smallest turbo Ford used on these engines. Its an IHI and its only safely capable of about 18 PSI. I will be using many different turbos during the life of this car. Im starting out with the small one, and will work my way up to bigger and better ones I have in storage waiting for their chance to shine. I have done more since these were taken. I will post more this weekend hopefully.
  8. Here is the engine and transmission in their final spot. I still need to clean up the mounts a bit to make them look better, but thats where everything landed. I have small concerns about the oil pan being exposed, Im probably going to have to make a wider/shallower pan.
  9. I took the old engine and transmission out. Im the knucklehead in the red sweater-shirt thing. I took me one day to have the engine and trans out, and the new engine and trans inplace for a mock up.
  10. Hello, here is my little 260z. Its an early one. Lol, just realized I should tell you all what I put in. Im going to build a Z powered by a 2.3L Ford Turbo engine. Its a similar engine to the SVO Mustangs, Turbo Coupe Thunderbirds ect. that were made during the 80's. Its backed up by a WC T5, 5-speed overdrive manual transmission. This current engine will make around 250ish at the crank. Stock power is 190 HP, and 240TQ. It has (or will have) a: FMIC Free flowing air intake/filter 3" mandrel bent exaust Manual Boost Control Valve set to 18PSI Advanced Timing 2-3* So for now it may not get quite to 250 Hp, but it will be close enough for me to have some fun for now. I will be adding some trick stuff to it as time goes on. Onto the build pictures!
  11. Heroes in a halfshell...turtle power! Haha, nice car dude. I like that green, but I have seen others I dont care for.
  12. Hey man. I was at the Stockton Pnp 2 weeks ago, there was 3 or 4 280z, and one early 260z. I pulled most of the stuff from the 260z, but the others still had plenty of body panels interior parts ect.
  13. Haha, old pictures are fun, and depressing sometimes So I guess you dont have that car anymore?
  14. Intercooler and piping installed today. I could do it better, but its going to work fine for me. Im happy with the way it turned out. Im going to work on the fuel system tommorrow and take some more pictures. Check back later!
  15. Thats what I was going to suggest, Ive done it dozens of times. Lookin good so far
  16. Dang, you are lucky. Im not in your shoes, but close calls like that are supposed to change people. You could have died then and there, be happy you are alive and healthy. On the other hand, I would use the insurance money to get another car going. I would have all that stuff swapped in no time... on with your life dude
  17. I second doing the 5 Lug swap. Sell your wheels and buy some 5 luggers. You are going to have to spend extra money on adapters anyway, might as well do it better. Its not hard at all, Im doing the 5 lug swap right now on my Z. You have a sharp looking car there, dont cut corners now Im painting my Z white also
  18. Yeah, I have a thread going in the Other Engines forum. "New Member, New Z" is the title I believe. Its only a few from the top. Im pretty far along already. I need to get the engine fuel, get my hydro clutch assembly ready, and get a driveshaft made. Not much left to get it running. Im doing the 5 lug with the toyota 4x4 vented brakes as well. You could use the Tbird harness if you really wanted to I guess. It has many other circuits integrated into it other then the engine management. A few people have done it, but its not worth the trouble. The Merkur XR4TI harness is only engine management, and is the easier one to use. The 87-90 Mustang harness is almost the same as the Merkur, but they are almost always nicer. They arent under the same hood as a turbo, so they usually dont have any cracks or brittle wires or anything. I have used both, and the Mustang works out really well. Mustang harnesses are super easy to find as well. I just bought 2 for 17.xx at picknpull about a month ago. There are also many engine to pick from in the the junk yards.
  19. Spent this last weekend buying parts, some of which I dont need, but couldnt resist! Got a few spare turbos and some front Z31 hubs so I can start upgrading my brakes and put some new tires on the car. Im swapping to 5 lug cause I want some 16" mesh wheels for the Z, and they are pretty hard to find and pricey when you do. Plans for this next weekend 1/5-1/6 are to work on my fuel system. I should get my FMIC and piping in the mail by the end of next week. My goal is to have the car atleast running by the end of January. Its sort ok like a new years resolution thing.
  20. Perfect, thanks for the info. And one last pat one the back for the dash you made Myron
  21. Dang, nice job dude. That looks great. I have a question for you though. How did you mount your steering collumn? Doesnt it get bolted in with the factory dash? I assume you made some sort of brace for it. I ask because I was thinking about using a plastic factory dash overlay thing as my dash and just making brackets for all my gauges and stuff. Thanks
  22. That was one of the points I was trying to make. How much does your engine and trans weigh? The L6's are pretty light for how big they are, and the stock 4-speed only weighs about 75 pounds. There arent many transmissions lighter then that.
