  1. Id replace the neg cable and bring your alt and battery down to an Autozone or equivalent. They should be able to test both your alt and your battery for free. If one or both are bad replace. A lot of times its one of the cables though, like has been mentioned above.
  2. Looks like another version of the same "knock off" to me. I do believe they are not the exact wheels the OP is asking about. They have a Honda-esk offset too. I am interested in the wheels in the first post myself, be nice in a 16x7-8 with a 0 offset.
  3. Yeah, if that is in fact my old car, there is some decent rust in the hatch area. I dont think it was all that bad though. Nothing that couldnt be replaced.
  4. Thats got to be the same car. Does it still have the Falken tires on it? I can send you some pictures of when I brought the car home if youd like.
  5. DUDE! No joke, I think that used to be my car, LOL. How long have you had it? I got the car stock and traded it stock, that bondo wasnt me . Would you be interested in selling me my cross member back ? This is too funny...
  6. Wow, thanks very much for taking the time to post that. That looked like so much fun, I had to rewind it several times because my eyes were watering too bad to see what was happening That was very fun to watch, and just the kind of motivation most of us need to finish our Z's!
  7. Well, I got it running Monday 3-17-08. It wasnt idling very well, so I shut it off, and checked to make sure the spark plug wires were all in tight. Number 1 wire wasnt snapped on all the way. It idles great considering a vacuum leak or two, and I didnt time it yet. Also got my wheels and tires mounted and balanced, and yes theyre super sexy looking. Things are looking good for the Z meet at the end of the month!
  8. Sounds like you got a lot done Good luck to you and your car! Try to take some cool action shots while you are there.
  9. Lol, I never thought about that. I guess they are kinda ugly and plain engines. Its pretty rough right now too. Im going to clean up all the wires and the engine bay soon. What show are you talking about? I was planning on driving the car to the MSA show in April. I would love to come to a local show as well. I work in Rio Vista, so I could probably bring both my cars to Vacaville. PS, I found your thread in the Event threads. Im going to go for sure. Thanks for giving me an extra heads up lol.
  10. Another update found here http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=129211 I went ahead and installed a regular T3 on the engine. The little IHI just wasnt physically big enough for a 3" exhaust. But now I should be able to acheive close to 300 HP at the crank. Its so close, I just need one more solid weekend to work on it, and it should be driving! 25 PSI here we come!
  11. I bought a 280z recently. Its a 75' and its one of those clean old lady cars you here about every once in a while. I got it for 1500, drove it home no problems. Its really straight, solid floors, only rust so far is a bit in the tail end of the subframes. Interior is a bit worn, but not too bad. Im going to install a 302 HO with a carb for now. Eventually it will get EFI and a super charger. Im going to use a T5 and keep things simple for now. I have been cleaning it up, and taking off all the things the car doenst need. I took off the bumpers, man are they heavy! Im going to shoot for 2500 pounds without a driver or much fuel. Its gonna be a weekend car that will see more track time then my other Z will.
  12. Update (Finally) 3-12-08 I have been working on the Z when I can. Its outside now, so I can only work on it when its nice outside, and Im limited to the weekends =( The gas tank is all done, the intercooler and piping are done, and all the wiring is done. It sputtered to life for a short while on starter fluid this last Saturday. It should run pretty sweet when I get around to putting gas in it You can see the wheels Im going to use. BBS 16x7 mesh wheels from a Lincoln Mark VII. They weigh about 17.5 pounds. Im converting to 5 Lug and using the vented Toyota 4x4 calipers. Im going with 225/50/16 in front, and 225/60/16 in back. The taller tire is on the wheel in the pic, so it looks really big. Also take a look at my dash. Its just the dash cap, I removed everything from underneath it and lost about 40 pounds. It looks great and its super light! I need to finish making brackets for the gauges, they are being made from alluminum. Im waiting for some brake parts to get here from Ross, and after I finish the brakes and make a driveshaft the car will be driving. I figure in the next couple weeks!
  13. They remind me of a 1969 Mach 1. They look kinda cool, but its hard to tell mid production...
  14. The car in the video had 280z style rear lights. Looks like an early 260z here in the states.
  15. For reference, I live in Central Cali and I bought a 260z about 4 months ago. Its an early one, has clean interior, not much rust, very few dents, and it ran great when I got it. I paid 1500 for mine. I would have paid 300 for a good rolling shell. I didnt need mine to run, but I paid extra for that and the interior. Assuming the rust isnt out of control (if its a CA car, Im sure its not bad) and there arent many Dmv Fees, I think its safe to say thats a good price.
  16. There are many online parts suppliers that will sell you some Z31 Rotors. I just got some from buyautoparts.com. Great shipping, and decent prices. Here are the rotors you were looking for (at least I believe they are the right ones.) http://www.buyautoparts.com/addtocarts/1984-Nissan-300ZX/300~ZX2~001/N/Brake_Disc.html Not bad, 33 bucks for Brembos. I was just looking at the pictures, the rotors for an 84' non turbo are 4 lugs. I thought you were going 5 lugs?
  17. Wish my car looked like that I think you did a nice job, even with picking a tough color like black lol. Nice wheels too, what size tires do you have there? Nice car dude :icon14:
  18. I like your car Speedgato. How much is it lowered in that picture? I like the way it sits and the relation of tire to the fenders.
  19. Anyone know if they will fit the rear stock drums on my Early 260z? I am going to drill the hubs and drums to the 5x4.5 pattern, but I dont know if these are to small of a diameter to fit the hub register. I was hoping someone has these or some like it. They also sell a set that are hub centric for Mustangs, and I pretty much know those arent the way to go. Im using a BBS Mesh wheel with 5 Lugs, and the offset are about 21mm. Thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WHEELS-SPACERS-ADAPTERS-Ford-Mustang-94-GT-LX-Cobra-1_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ42614QQihZ002QQitemZ120221374694
  20. Runout, now thats a good reason not to use washers. Okie doke, thanks very much for the help Blue. I will order some spacers from Ross today.
  21. I have been reading and reading about the 4x4 toyota swap for weeks now. I think I have read every thread related to the swap. There are a few post warning against using washers in place of machined spacers, but no reason why. I want to use the Z31 5 lug rotor/hub with s12w calipers/pads, I know I need a spacer, and I know about what size I need for my early 260z. Can one of you guys explain the risk in using washers instead? I know there are a handful of guys using washers on their cars, the only thing I can think of is balance issues caused by the washers.
  22. The ford T5 has the same clutch arm action as the chevy T5. It has to push the pressure plate and TO bearing toward the engine, I dont see how it can possibly be different? I hope its the same, cause I have a ford T5 that I am going to use this setup on
  23. All you have to do is load it up in the back of your z with the dudes hoist. Then when you get home, throw it in reverse, get up to about 45 MPH, then slam on the brakes. You only get one shot so make it count, I would suggest openging the garage door first to minimize the damage. Lol, buy a hoist dude. They are cheap, and it will open up many opportunites in the future. They are well worth the money, even if you only use it a few times. Kragen has them on sale sometimes for like 70 bucks new.
