  1. Both of the early 260z's I have owned had the 280z hubs.
  2. Awesome work dude! Its looking killer even without paint
  3. I used Summit/Patriot Tight Tuck block hugger headers. Ceramic coated for like $178 from Summit.
  4. Yeah Im gonna use a TKO in my car too. A T5 is fine for a stock engine, but who wants a stock engine? lol
  5. Yes the OP car is a 240z, and the CADs work for the 240z's. The Late 260z and all 280z cars are different in many ways.
  6. The 5.0L is small, light, cheap, easy to find, and makes decent power. Car Craft took a stock short block from a HO Mustang, used headers, a set of AFR Heads, and some ratio roller rockers and made just over 400 HP with 9.0:1 compression at like 6500 RPM. Not bad, cheap, plenty of power and even lighter with the aluminum heads. My car is almost driving, Im using a T5 manual, a HO 302, EFI and it all fits under my hood. I bought a new wiring harness for the engine for less than 500 after shipping from fordfuelinjection.com and its really nice, plug-n-play. After I get a new job I will be replacing the engine with an aluminum block/head 5.0L and a Tremec TKO/600 transmission. Its the only way to go
  7. Got a new harness from Fordfuelinjection.com, only $480 shipped. They use only the sensors needed to run the engine, all new Ford connectors all cut to the right length. They said to just plug in all the sensors, hook up one key hot, one power, and one ground and start the engine up. Takes car of most of the electrical bugs using a new harness.
  8. Bought a super rust free early 260z a couple months ago. I have been busy buying parts and installing the new engine. Im rocking a T5 manual, an 89' High Output 5.0L with the EFI. The oil pan is behind the front crossmember, the stock EFI manifold fist under the hood, and the headers clear the steering shaft. In about another year, the engine will come back out, get rebuilt with AFR heads with about 400 HP/TQ. The transmission will be replaced with a Tremeck TKO 600, I will also strip and paint the car blue. I will post pictures soon and I would like to hear your suggestions.
  9. Ive got a small Dakota truck, only weighs 3300 pounds and I have a 360 Magnum MPI engine in mine. Its a torque beast, but they are at least twice the price of a Chevy or Ford small block. For the money I would suggest getting another S30 and installing either a GM crate 350, or rebuilding a used 302. Dodge engines are cool, but they are not the best option for a Z (IMO)
  10. Not sure Id pay 2k for that. If you have 4k you wanna spend on a car I suggest waiting for the right one, not the first one.
  11. You cant junk a car without proof of ownership. That way you cant steal a car, strip it and have it crushed. There are plenty of engines at picknpulls in the bay area, they run about 250 bucks. Id keep my eyes peeled on craigs list for a used engine. You may have opened a monster can of worms dude. This will be a great way to learn about how a car works, just try to convince your parents that working on a junker car is better than smoking crack
  12. Looks pretty nice! I would recomend the Toyota 4x4 brake upgrade. It wont cost very much and your car will stop very well. I have a cobra with some huge breaks on it, and the Z stops just as good if not better then the cobra does.
  13. I bought a mandrel bent universal dual exhaust from Jegs. Cost me $260 and Im splitting it with a friend. We only used about half of the kit too. Its not ss, but its a functional performance exhaust that was really cheap.
  14. Sounds like you found a nice car. Is it an early model 260z? Thats what I have and I love it
  15. Aside from the G-Nose there is nothing cool about that purple Z. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=124666&page=21 Scroll down to Jay28's car, thats a nice 2+2.
  16. If you have enough power to break a wheel, you shouldnt be using those anyway. They are cool looking wheels that fit and they are cheap. I havent read anything about them breaking though. My plans are a 400 whp build and I would run them if I didnt go 5 Lug already.
  17. There are plenty of suggestions posted in the forums. Here are some I would buy if I didnt already go 5 Lug http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/16-XXR-513-Staggered-wheel-AE86-Datsun-Miata-Rims-Black_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a570Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem280269053153QQitemZ280269053153 They come in different colors and different sizes, dont weigh too much and are really cheap. And you dont have to use any spacers...
  18. Id buy it, pending any rust issues. Thats about fair market value out here in Cali, but I think Florida would be more rust prone...
  19. I have bought 2 Z's in similar condition. I drove both home, and both were registered and I paid 1500 each for them. Non running cars here in Cali go for less then 1000. I would feel comfortable giving him up to 1500 if the underneath is rust free. Offer low, if he doesnt take, there are plenty others just like it that arent burried in the ground on Craigslist for cheap. Good Luck and let us know what happens
  20. Those wheels are pretty trick guys. Makes me wish I didnt convert to 5 Lug, it would have been cheaper too...
