I think you should also look into some good drag radials. Get some BFG Drag radials and see what happens to your 60'. I think you will like what you see. Besides changing tires is way less complicated than changing differentals and putting in an LSD! Guy

I have the same thing in my 80' ZX. I like it though. I am 6'1" and I need all the head room I can get! Guy

You'll need the pedal, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, tranny, possibly the driveshaft(are the spindels the same from auto to manual?), and miscleanous nuts and bolts! I dont think you will have to modifly the hole for the shifter but if you do it will be very minor. The part that sucks the most is mounting that clutch pedal! I had to mount one for my T56. That took me forever to get it right! But I sure was happy when I was done with it! Guy

LMAO! HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!! Thats funny! Guy

Well I got my car back from the exhaust shop tonight! He did a great job on it. It is all nice and tucked up inside the frame. I will have some pics tommorow night for your viewing pleasure. As soon as he had the whole system on it blew out the passenger side header gasket So I am going to buy some of those copper header gaskets cause the one I had on there was for a stock LT1 manifold. I think thats why it blew out? Since the header has round ports and the gasket had D ports. They did match up very good but I thought it would work. Thats what I get for thinking! I am sending my computer to Street & Performance tommorow so that they can burn me a chip. It runs like crap right now with the programming from Darius's car still on there! (I bought the computer and harness from him)I should run much better when I get it back from S&S! Also I think I need to ground the engine because my gauges(which are all grounded to the engine) kept working and then not working...along with my electric water pump and electric fan! I really need to make sure those work when they are supposed to!!! Anyways I will post those pics tommorow night so you guys can tell me what you think of it! Guy

Yeah but unlike your SS, the old Z's dont have aerodynamics on its side. A 280Z will most likely never see 162 MPH unless some serious work goes into the body to control lift on the front end. Yah a Z may fly down the road but we dont really want it to fly off the road! Guy

Oh and the SEARCH function is very useful! Guy

Here's what Tuner Cat had to say about my idea... Yeah that sucks! I am just going to buy a chip from Street & Performance for now and then maybe buy all that other crap that they are talking about to burn chips/flash chips. This was not the answer I was looking for Guy

What do you want your front wheels to come off the ground? Put a solid axle and a 4 link under there and it might! LOL

Ok I just got finish loading up my car on the car hauler! I am taking it in tommorow for exhaust!!! Ok I have a few questions now... 1.) my car runs like crap now... could that be because there is no exhaust and there isnt enough back pressure? I doesnt seem to have instant power when I snap the throttle? It kinda hesitates...I think this could also be the tunning that is on the computer right now(it was Darius's old computer with his set up for a supercharger) I dont have the O2's hooked up either but it should still run ok but not great, right? 2.) I am going to buy TUNERCAT for my car and I have a 93 LT1 engine, now since TUNERCAT is for 94-97(94/95 in my case) will I have a problem since the 94-97 was "seqencial(sp?) EFI" and not "bank fired" like the 93's? I just want to make sure that I dont buy all the stuff to do the TUNERCAT and then find out that I cant do it to my engine! I emailed TUNERCAT with the same questions so hopefully they will get back to me with a deffinent answer right away. Anyways I really need some input on the TunerCat....will it work? Guy

Well I think that if you dont take atleast some money from him, he will feel left out from your project . This is just his way of helping you and making himself feel like he helped you along with this project. Ya know what I mean? Guy

Your dad is driving a 2003 Z06 right? That car costs some serious $$$! I think he can handle the $1000 you want. Dont feel bad for him giving you that money, if thats the only way he can help then take the money and feel good about it and it will make him feel like he help you! Your just looking at this all wrong! Guy

On one of Phantoms post go the the bottom and click on "PROFILE".....then once that page opens up click on "Phantoms personal gallery"......you should see the pics then! Guy -
Well thank you! I try to help in whatever way I can. I plan to add a few more pages on other parts of the swap but those will have to wait since my car will be drivable this thursday!!!!!!!! Guy

any one know how much it would cost for v8 swap with a 240z?
80LS1T replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Or you could buy a done V8Z and then drive that one while you compile parts for your own V8 swap! That way you could have your cake and eat it too! Guy -
I dont know if this is why.....but I would think since most of the time there is only 1 person in the car then why not set it up so the engine is slightly over towards the passanger side so that the weight is evenly distributed when your by yourself? That would be my guess! Guy

I wish I could say happy fathers day to my dad but he passed away almost 4 years ago at the age of 62. I was only 17 at the time and there isnt a day that goes by that I dont wish I could have said good bye. Whatever you dont take either one of your parents for granted. You just never know when their time is up. Even if sometimes you dont see eye-to-eye, just remember that tommorow could be their last day. So dont hold a grudge! It's just not worth it. Guy P.S. HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD!

Update on the LT1 powered 280ZX......
80LS1T replied to 80LS1T's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Ok I just took my car for a 1/2 mile drive! Even though I dont have an exhaust system. As I pulled back into my drive way there was a chick coming down the road on her bike, I cant imagine what she was thinking when my car came roaring down the road and pulled into my driveway! 8) It wasnt running the best so I brought it back and popped the hood to read any codes out that might be in there. As I popped the hood a big cloud of white smoke rolls out. The heater lines werent tight! WHOOPS! So anyways I go to read the codes out and the only one in there is CODE 22..."low TPS signal" So I think I am going to pick up a TPS tommorow at work and see if that fixes it. I dont think I can be out of adjustment because the stock one isnt adjustable...is it? Oh and my electric fan and water pump work! I have them on a temp controlled relay and they popped on at 160 degrees and stayed on till it cooled back down to 160, even with the key off! I really like this set up. That way it will turn off when it cools down not when the key is on or off. I recommend this method. Man I cant wait to drive my car farther than a 1/2 mile! Guy -
What a 1,000 horsepower supercar should look like
80LS1T replied to Heavy Z's topic in Non Tech Board
.......... What would it do in the 1/4 mile? Is that a real car or just a concept car? Guy -
What year ZX? I take it your just goint to be building this car for running at Boneville? Cause 200+ MPH in a Z/ZX is hard to do with out some serious body modifications. The Z/ZX likes to lift up at around 160MPH, so I hear anyways!? If you want to get to 200+MPH I think it could be done with a Turbo SBC easy but the only think holding you back is the body of the car itself. Your going to have to come up with a way to prevent front end lift. I think in a ZX a turbo SBC would be a tight fit. I know for most of us ZX guys a SBC is tight all by it self. Not say its not possible but it will require some very creative thinking. Guy

Look up "Neapco Adapter" under the search function. This will give you a part number for the adapter and most likely the U-Joint number for the "SPICER" U-Joint that everyone uses. Then you have to measure your driveshaft for how long it needs to be. My machinist told me to 1.) stick the transmission yoke in the tranny all the way 2.) pull the yoke out 3/4" 3.) place the new adpater on the differental 4.) now measure from center-to-center on the 2 U-joints. And that will be how long you need your driveshaft. When you have your driveshaft made be sure to have all new SPICER U-Joints installed. The part number for those will also have to be looked up on the search function. Hope that helps! Guy

You can get a free catalog from http://www.zcarparts.com. I think you can pay an extra $150 for the JET HOT coating right away. It looks really nice when it coated and it will perform better too, supposedly. I dont know how much an entire exhaust system would cost to coat though. Guy
-
You can get a complete exhaust system from MSA for like $350! That includes headers and a full 3" exhaust system with a "super turbo" muffler! Its a good deal but if I were you I would spend the extra money and get atleast the header JET HOT coated. I bought the same system for my 80' ZX and it rusted really fast. If I were to do it again I would get the whole system coated! Guy

Update on the LT1 powered 280ZX......
80LS1T replied to 80LS1T's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Ok well I have my new tranny mount in and set up! I made that on Wednesday and Thurday night(I was up till 2:00am on Friday morning finishing it up and then I had to get up at 6:30am to go to work! ) So Friday was a loooooooonnnnnnnnggggggggg day! But I got it finished! I had all my relatives over for my Graduation from Tech party today and boy was it fun! I got to show off my car all day! I only wish I could have given some rides. I loved hearing how great of a job I did/am doing on it! Everyone was really impressed and they cant believe that I did it all by myself. Well I did like 95% of it anyways. My step dad painted the engine bay. I was talking to my uncle and I told him that this wasnt your typical Import and he was like "ya no kidding, this car is actually going to be fast!" All I have to say is...all you guys who are doing a swap, get it finished up and do a great job the first time! That way you can show it off to everyone and talk about your car all the time! LOL I talked a lot about my car today but everyone kept prevocing(sp?) me! LOL Anyways I still have some small issues to deal with but they will be taken care of before I take it in for exhaust. Guy -
Yeah I have a buddy of mine who "might" buy a 2000+ Camaro Z28. He said its going to "wax my ass!" I told him I really doubt it but you can say all you want but untill you have the car all your doing is talking crap! That car out weights my car by 500+ lbs and it will have almost 100HP less than mine, so I say "do the math and then start talking!" Guy
