  1. Well I personally think drive on lifts are crap! All they do is make working on the car much harder. Those platforms that the wheels are on are always in the way! I like the ones where the arms come out and you lift on the body/pinch weld/frame. That lift looks like it would be nice for a Z though because of the low ground clearnce it gives. But I would still rather have a hoist with arms. Guy
  2. Is this a hyraulic roller lifter motor? Guy
  3. From the pic and description it sounds like a pretty good deal. Just be sure to check for rust in teh most common spots! Otherwise I would say buyer-up! Guy
  4. Yup that would be the engine we are talking about. We just had 2 more engines go bad last week! One was a wrist pin let loose and the other was knocking like you wouldnt believe! Those motors are absolutly junk. If you have the option to buy the 3.2 L or 3.5L get one of those! Both are 10 times the motor a 2.7L is! Guy
  5. Is it just me or does the "Notify me when a reply is posted" feature not work? Sometimes I get notified but 9 out of 10 of my posts that get replies I never get a notice saying that someone responded. I really like that feature! So does it work for anyone else or am I doing something wrong? Guy
  6. Actually for a HI-Performance engine wouldnt you want a "seasoned" block. Thats what I was always taught. I dont know if thats the same for an alluminum block though? Guy
  7. Now thats funny! It just never stops with you does it Aux?! Guy
  8. If your going to modify the kit you might as well just make the mounts yourself. Why buy motor mounts that dont fit so that you have to modify them? Just make them your self and save some $$$. Since the ZX firewall is 3" forward of where the Z's is the mounts will not work unless you modify the firewall! Guy
  9. I am actually using the muffler that was sent with the exhaust system that I bought from MSA for my L28E when that was still in the car. I think it's a "THRUSH" turbo muffler. Yeah it does sound pretty good! Not too loud not to quite! Guy
  10. Actually from what I understand the LS1 actually makes the car lighter?! I think thats what Phantom said anyways? Guy
  11. Since I live in the middle of the woods I have seen many raccons. Once and a while one will come up by the house and do what you just described. Those little bastards could wake a dead person! One time my dog caught one of them out in our swap in the middle of the day. That thing was atleast 30lbs and was extremly pissed off. Now my dog was only about 45lbs but it could kill anything. Lets just say the raccon didnt win I think my dog was bi-polar. It was the nicest dog you would ever meet but once it was on the "hunt" it would turn into Dr. Jekal! One time it took down a baby deer! Lucky we caught it before the dog killed it. Guy
  12. Ivan, Im not even close to great lakes. I live way up by Green Bay. The closest 1/4 mile is Kaukauna (KK) which is about 45 miles away from my house. Im still debating on wheather or not Im going to drive my car this summer like it is. I hate the primer spots but I would really like to drive it a little bit. Im thinking I might just take it down to the track and only drive it on really nice days. I think Im going to be buying a bike this week so that will help. Atleast then I will have something to toy with while I wait for paint! Im looking at a late 90's Suzuki Katara(sp?) 750. Is there anyting that I should be looking for? Any bad years? Guy
  13. Your not asking for much are ya? What your looking for then is a restored Z or one thats been in storage forever. If you can find a 240Z with a good drivetrain(no leaks and runs perfect), has a none cracked dash, and the body is rust free.......then your probably not going to be in the area that I would call a cheap car. If you were looking for a 280Z you might be able to get what you want cheap but I doubt your going to get a 240Z in that kind of condition cheap. I would say be prepaired to spend $3500+ easy. The rust free part is the part that will really make the value of the car go up! What kind of price range are you in? Guy
  14. Wow that sucks about your Z being stolen! It looks like it was quite a nice car! However that new Silver one looks really sweet with those flares and those rims! 8) Keep the pics coming! Guy
  15. Holy cow man! I didnt even get a chance to try it myself before you responded! I fixed it now Guy
  16. I took some video of my car tonight. As you will see I have a couple of spots of primer...long story short, I thought that I was going to start the body work soon and now it turns out that I wont be starting till late summer/early fall . So me being the smart guy that I am decideded to get the surface rust spots off before I knew for sure that my brother would be able to do the paint right away! So I sanded those spots down. So I had to cover them back up to make sure they didnt rust again while it sat all summer! Anyways heres the video! (right click & save as...) let me know if it works! Guy
  17. Is this a stock motor? Are you sure your throttle cable is not binding? Also check to make sure your IAC motor is hooked up right. I had mine hooked up wrong and mine ran great under power but at idle it ran at like 1500RPMS. Guy
  18. 80LS1T

    Headers suck.

Hey dont give up! For starters you need a MIG welder! I tried to do what you are trying to do with a sticke welder......ah no not possible! All I did was burn through too. After I spent about $700 on a MIG welder set up I could weld perfect on those thin pipes. Plus now I have a nice MIG welder Take a look at the pics on my site and you can see how I did mine. Yeah My headers dont flow evenly but with a nice H-pipe up as close to the collectors as possible, the engine will never notice the different lengths in the pipes! Guy
  19. Sounds to me like it was bad prep work. Or they bumped a few curbs! Guy
  20. I think that purple car is pretty sweet! That car just screams "go ahead buddy try to race me!" Guy
  21. What kind of vehicles did you have previously? Did they have independent rear suspension? The independent rear supsesion causes this to happen.(not sure on the exact reason) My open diff in my 280ZX will leave to patches all day long. Oh and if you have an LSD both the rear wheels will spin in the same direction when jacked up off the ground. If its an open diff then they will spin in opposite directions. Guy
  22. Tim, what are you up to now? Guy
  23. Yeah I doubt those 22" will help in the traction department but it does have factory traction bars on the leaf springs and it has a shock mounted on the diff, kind of like a torque tube. Another cool thing it has is brake cooling ducts routed to the front rotors! I thought that was pretty impressive for a truck. 8) Guy
  24. Yeah deffinetly get a tilter! I know Im glad I spend the $48 on mine. I dont think I could have got my engine/tranny combo in and out with out it! Of course you guys with the Z's have three extra inches to play with due to the longer engine bay! Guy
