Thanks Zeeboost! Now I dont feel so bad LOL Guy

Yeah one of the parts guys at work said the same thing but he said "Automotive Supply" might be able to redo my lines. I am deffinetly going to check into that. Im affraid to go outside right now for fear of something else going wrong! LOL Its not that bad but the brake line thing kind pissed me off! Those are brand new SS lines! They only have like 2000 miles on them at most! I still have to go jack up the car and see whats going on there so maybe it is just a loose fitting! I can hope right!? Guy

I would suggest a starter heat sheild. I am now having a problem with my car with starter heat sinking. I am going to install some kind of barrier to stop the heat from the exhaust going straight into the starter. My passenger side exhaust is directly under the starter. There is about 2"-3" of clearance but apparently it isnt enough! That and I need a bigger battery! Guy

This was my day.... Ok first I get to work and I find out that my power steering lines are spraying fluid on to the hood when I have it at full crank. No biggie, right? Yeah well those 2 P/S lines are $100 ......at cost! Then when I left work and stopped at the gas station my car wouldnt start after I filled up. Well the problem was that my 600Amp battery that is in the spare tire well wasnt strong enough to start it for some reason? I started it fine when the engine was cold. I think the starter might be getting heat soak? So then I asked the guy work at the counter for a jump but his tiny little battery in his jeep sure wouldnt start it(500amp). So I call my step dad and he comes down and we jump it with his car. So I leave and as Im pulling out I notice my brake pedal is dropping to the floor? So I pull into a parking lot and check the brake fluid. Sure enough my front resevoir is almost out of fluid and the rear is still full. So I look under the car for a leak and see that the right rear line is leaking or it is rubbed through. I tried to tighten it but that didnt seem to help. So now I have no brakes and I cant shut my car off because I wont be able to start it! So take all the back roads home and dont go over 45mph for fear of someone pulling off a side road and cutting me off. So every stop sign I had to down shift and use the parking brake leaver to stop/slow down enough to see that there was no traffic coming from the cross road. Then when I am about 1/2 way home a C4 Vette pulls out in front of me and drives at about 40mph. He as just begging to race. He took off on me once and then I caught him again at the next stop sign. I knew I couldnt race because I didnt have anything to stop me fast enough in an emergency. So that sucked big time! I really want to race a Vette and this was my golden opportunity but nooooooooooo!!!!!!!! So that was just how crappy of a day I had! I just couldnt win! Guy

Wow thats a "sleeper!" lol......not really but wow! Guy

Ok now that I have my engine running like it should(no more misfiring and stumbling now that the o2 sensors are controlling the correct banks!), I am starting to work out the bugs. One of them is that I have a vibration at about 2500RPMS/ 60-65ish and it just gets worse as speed increases. Now I thinking that this is most likely a driveline angle problem. I balanced the wheels but that didnt completely take care of the problem although it did help a little bit. I used tape weights on the inside of the rims and only on the inside edge. Has anyone ever used tape weights on both the inner and outter edges? I think I might try that too. Now about my driveline angle...I was thinking if I took a piece of string from the center of the tranny tailshaft to the center of the differental flange and measure the difference between the string and the center of the driveshaft that would give me the angle. Correct? I could also do this with the left to right angle correct? Does anyone know what I mean? Guy
-
Dammmmmmmn.......after seeing the weight of some of those wheels you guys have, the 40lbs that mine weight doesnt seem so bad. Of course I only have a 225/45/17 but a 275 shouldnt make the wheel/tire combo weight 18lbs more!.................should it? Guy

What is the plan as far as HP & TQ? Guy

The doors for which place you want the air to blow, operate on vaccum from the engine. And if my memory recalls the hot/cold selection works off of a cable which closes off the coolant entering the heater box. You would think after having my dash out like 20 times I would have remebered stuff like this! Guy

Yeah I kinda missed the point...but I got it now! Thanks for the info! Guy

A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up and down the aisles. The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him. He answers that he is looking for a box of tampons for his wife. She directs him down the correct aisle. A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls and a ball of string on the counter. Confused, she says, "Sir, I thought you were looking for some tampons for your wife?" "It's like this," he replied, "yesterday, I sent my wife to the store to get me a carton of cigarettes, and she came back with a tin of tobacco and some rolling papers 'cause it's sooooooooooo much cheaper. "So, I figure if I have to roll my own so does she." Guy

So because you run a say 1.4 and mike ran a 1.6 60' that equals over 10mph in the quarter! I know the 60' is important but +10mph! How much time can be made in the 60' say per .100 seconds? Guy
-
Yeah its only got 14,xxx miles on it but its still a 71' and not a 70'. Seems a little high to me but hey if the guy actually pays the $30K then Im happy for the seller! Guy

At-home alignment checking/setting
80LS1T replied to strotter's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
The only tools that I have seen for aligning vehicles at home are for adjusting "toe". Even with those tools you will only get it close and you will not get it as close as an alignment rack will. Did you get a print out of the before and after measurements? I know at our shop we have to have both, not only for the customers records but ours as well. Guy -
So what's the little lady think about the new project? Is she as excited as you are? Guy

Man-o-man, were the excuses flying at work on Friday...."well if I would have got traction it would have been close" ........"When I put my slicks on we should race"........."yeah I dont think my tranny was shifting right".........."yeah I think my car was misfiring".......blah, blah, blah! It was beyond funny listening to all the crap that he had to say. I just kept my mounth shut and let him talk! I didnt even have to rub it in because all of the other guys were doing it for me! LOL Instead of the 3-4 car lengths the first 2 races and the 6 car lengths the last that I actually beat him by.....it turn into "yeah I heard you beat him by like 20 car lenghts! LOL Its toooooooo funny I tell ya! Guy
-
This guy wont be mad at me, he'll be mad at himself! I'll bet that he will be purchasing some drag radials for his car soon! If he can hook, it will be really close but I still think I will pull on him because even once he did get traction I was still pulling away. Guy

Well this guy at work has a 1984 Cutlas with a 427 BBC in it. Its running HUGE headers, a HUGE cam(something close to .600" lift) and hes diff is welded together to made it a posi(a cheap mans posi anyways!) The car is in ok condition but he thinks its a show winner. It needs about 10K stuck into it to even be considered a show car. Anyways hes been wanting to race me. Now Im not a a big talker, I let actions speak louder than words. So when he was saying that his car was faster, I was like well I hope it is you've got 75 more CI's and its a big block! Of course he was still making excuses today just incase he lost to me. He kept telling me that he thought his timing was off and that he cant get any traction and that his car has been slower ever since he put on a Elderbrock carb. Blah blah blah! So me and another guy from work hop in my car and he gets in his. Then we go out to the country on some back road. I get on the left side and he gets on the right and the guy in my passenger seat says "ready.........set.........go!!!!!!!!" Well he started to smoke his tires and I did a little but I didnt rev my engine to 5K and pop the clutch so my car hooked pretty good. After we got about 20 yards down the road, he finally got the tires to stop spinning and by then I had pulled a car length on him and I was still pulling away! Soon I was up to about 80 mph and I had pulled another car length(now Im 2 legths in front) and I was still pulling away! So as soon as I hit 100mph I decided the race was over cause there was no way in hell that Cutlas was going to catch me at 100mph. That car must float like a boat at those speed! So we lined up again, because he "couldnt get traction". I told him to not be such a cheap a$$ and get some real tires for his car. The tires on it werent anything special thats for sure! So the guy in my passenger seat does the same thing, "ready.......set...........go!!!!!!" This time I really hooked good and I got a huge lead on him right away. I stopped racing at 80 mph this time! Now Im figuring hes had enough , but nooooo he wants to race again. So we line up and he tries to baby it off the line, nope sorry didnt help any! I smoked him again! This time I made a point and stayed in it till I hit 120mph! Yeah I was a good 6 car lengths on him by then but he was still trying! LOL I then took the guy that was in my car back to the dealership and then I proceded to go home with a HUGE grin on my face! I just cant wait to hear the excuses on Friday! Guy

Konig Monsoon's 17x7 and 16x7's.
80LS1T replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I kinda thought they might be. Oh well atleast they look good. Once the car is painted I will probably look for another set for the track that a little lighter. Not to mention there isnt much sidewall flex in a 225/45/17! I need some 15's with some DR's for the track! Guy -
...And so it begins again!! New project imminent!!
