130mph floating issue

That plate is a good idea to help force ram air through the radiator, besides it looks cool. P.S Those are actual wind tunnel graphs, so you know it's legit Al Gore approves this message. -
Winter bench racing can increase your hp.

Why waste money on your real car when you can get a turbo stage 4 kit in gran turismo for only 90,000 credits?? That's like one b-spec endurance race away! -
I agree about the stock taillights. I'm splashing them now for the customs, still not sure about the lights though. I was thinking just a couple rows of leds, and maybe even another mod where they have a sequencing circuit. I like the g37 lights but don't know if it works for a squarish lens. What do you mean by brow? I'm looking into CF for sure, probably still offering a cheaper FG option. I've learned that many places pigment the resin so that it's a solid color, rather than gel coat. This could be even cheaper, plus still has a UV stabilizer, and will not show scratches as much since the color goes all the way through like the plastics. The CF however will probably get a clear urethane. I'm also talking to a local shop that sells tooling supplies because I want to make reusable vacuum bags and pop out some better parts quickly. I think the dash could be worth it if it's customized like I mentioned with more gauge pods, perhaps the modern size so aftermarket gauges fit better. Do the caps even look good? I always assumed they would be pretty noticeable. I am warming up to the steering column gauge idea. It does seem like something would fit pretty well, and solve the problem of being short one pod with aftermarket gauges. A-pillar pods would probably be pretty easy to do as well. I think you're talking about the plastic cap piece that runs the width of the car, do a lot of people want those? I never gave it much thought. A glass extrusion shop (ladder rails) could punch those out by the dozens. Interesting idea. Same here, that's what got me going on it in the first place. I found a whole set once but was thinking to myself, do I really want to pay this much just to delay the problem rather than fix it permanently? There are a lot of pieces though, it's gonna take me a little while to get some headway. Yeah availability isn't too much of an issue, unless you are looking for something other than black. There are a couple sites like that one I've seen, I think one or two of them have an ebay store as well. I have a feeling the price of a FG set would be comparable however, those things aren't too cheap. We'll call the CF price a worthy upgrade

130mph floating issue

One word: downforce. P.S. Is it possible removing the park benches makes it sit higher? Did it have that problem before you removed the bumpers? Either way, it seems like the front end could be a little high for the car's weight/configuration. Lowering the front end slightly could naturally give it a better stance without having to add a wing or anything that drastic. -
Sounds like somebody needs to get their hands on a set of these bad boys and make a splash, both literally and figuratively.

I dunno, you both responded pretty darn fast.

Effects of Octane and Methanol/Water
getoffmyinternet replied to wondersparrow's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
Wikipedia would probably help us here. No such thing as too high. The rating is just the knock characteristics compared to 100% iso-octane fuel, although some fuels are even better, which is how you get over 100. However, it is gratuitous to use a rating higher than necessary, because the other qualities aren't necessarily better, and the octane rating only concerns what compression the engine is limited to. All you need to do is stay below the threshold. If you are at the threshold but want more power, an increase in compression will require an increase in octane rating. The most advantageous engine timing depends mostly on the design of the engine. Note that preignition and detonation are often confused for the same thing, and for the most part only the latter is a concern with octane rating. Preignition will occur under a variety of other reasons, namely too much heat or improper mixture. I'm sure the top fuel experts will stone me with technicalities however. You can decrease the knock tendencies of the engine by keeping the cylinder cooler though, which is where the lines of preignition and detonation cross. The detonation characteristics of an engine also depend on the design of the engine itself, so it's hard to estimate what octane is required for a given compression ratio, which is why people with highly customized engines probably take the ballpark figure and just add enough to feel better about their investment. Water injection is used on higher performance engines probably moreso to decrease knock than for general cooling. As far as my limited knowledge on the injection subject goes, I understand it to act as increasing the cylinder pressures without detonation characteristics because it increases the density of the fuel, plus the water and alcohol mixture increases the octane rating. I believe methanol works in a similar way -- it's less powerful and harder to burn than gas but is much higher in octane rating. That said, unless you're talking retarded high performance, the effects are pretty slim in terms of increased power, and not worth the cost unless you're just going for the bragging rights aspect of it. Water injection was used on huge radial engines that produced several thousands of horsepower, and on wwii tanks to save fuel quite effectively however. If the limiting factor of the engine is cooling, a cooling system upgrade would be much more beneficial than water injection. In a turbo system I would think the results to be about the same relatively. -
Disguised weapons (some foul language)

I just discovered that website a week ago, hilarious! "Cut the bullshit fancy french names and call it a goddamn gross ass ketchup sandwich!" -
I don't think it's a waste, having fun with hobbies during your free time is what life's all about! I guess it's just a matter of whether you spent more than just "free" time or looking back you realize it wasn't as fun as you hoped and could have done something better. But if all we ever did were constructive things, we'd just be peering out over the exciting world below from the top of our lonely towers

It's for the ladies. That's some pretty good photochop there. I love the leather deal too, oh some day. Some day. A baseball stitch would look weird to me though. It would be nice to get a matching leather interior that has the diamond pattern double stitched in So it would be reminiscent of the original vinyl.

Ha, another good info! Maybe it's an undercover mod that wants to bring all the good topics to the top! You stuffed the rb compressor in there Mike?? How did that work out? So two people have a/c huh? Blak you better get in there on the Z35 forum, it's looking pretty shabby. They're starting to plea for anyone in the galaxy with a hybrid350, it's quite sad. Anyone heard of http://www.vintageair.com/ ? I vaguely remember someone on here going that route, don't remember who, but it seemed to work out for him.

Can't blame a guy for wanting to get his reputation up. RB33! I like the idea of dual turbos, but that's pretty much the only thing I like about them. :/

I remember wikipedia telling me once that the vq was in Ward's top 10 engines every year or something like that. Also, the nismo gt-s had almost 400 hp by simply slapping on a small supercharger. If I had a 350z I would utilize the engine that came with it. However, smogflip!

For a great price I bought a pair of tail lights to replace my cracked, broken, fogged, hazed, blackened, weathered, baked, old ones. The new right side was already like new condition and without taking it apart I just rinsed the inside with soapy water. The left I had to take apart to clean and put on my old housing because the one it came with was warped. Needless to say it was real gross inside, but I can't find the before picture of the lens, only after cleaning it with a lot of soap and elbow grease. Some of the soot in the cracks were so baked on that I gave up but I don't think it's noticeable. Some plastic polisher did wonders, especially after they got all hazed from having to use some scotchbrite to get the worst of it clean. Light would go through but it looked darker and the fly eyes didn't reflect anything back. You'll see how my old driver side lens doesn't even seem to be translucent at all. I took a picture of the before and after of using the plastic polish as well between the top half and bottom half plus half the reflector pad. I glued it back together with some "Goop" and had to replace some hardware, epoxy on one of the chrome strip legs etc. but dang what a difference. I even reused my old gaskets because that's just how cheap I am. At least now everything I took off is slightly cleaner than before. I'm very happy. This concludes the budget tail end of the restoration... for now. I still want to make custom lenses in the future, but can always sell these now that they are tip top. Update: My theory about the soot being baked on was correct. I took apart my old light which was probably dirtier than the one I bought, and all the soot came right off in literally five minutes of scrubbing with simple green, as opposed to like two hours with the one that had been in the oven. Also, they come apart pretty easily so I don't see any reason they should go in the oven in the first place; now the bucket is all yellowed and somewhat distorted. On a side note, I learned that you can get the scratches out much easier if you sand the lens first and then use the plastic polish. On my old lens I was even able to polish it right up after sanding off the part numbers with 400 grit, although at that point you'd just be taking off more than necessary. 1000 grit should wipe out all the deep scratches, and following with the plastic polish should be a snap. -
Yeah the late model bumpers were terrible imo. I just don't like bumper bumpers. The real ticket is when they are incorporated into the body shape somehow. Even with the euro chrome bumper, I think they look better shaved, but it definitely depends on the look you're going for. I'm not real aware of your project however. Or should I say projects

240z hatch glass with working defroster
getoffmyinternet replied to getoffmyinternet's topic in Parts Wanted
Keep your horizontal, the verticals are ugly. Also, Indio, dealbreaker. Shipping wouldn't be too bad but still probably not worth it for the value if I can find one in driving distance. I feel like a used window just isn't worth 100 bucks though. -
