  1. UPDATE ! I just checked out the rear end after taking it to the drag strip last week http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=147344 I wanted to make sure everything was OK and up to par for this weekend The only thing I found wrong was on the driver side axle. The large outer boot clamp next to the diff had been thrown off ! Probably due to the wheel hopping I had last week at the strip, hehe. I went ahead and replaced ALL of the cv boot clamps with the worm gear style hose clamps like I did on the passenger side. I found nothing wrong with my passenger axle assembly, woot ! I also placed my home made o-rings on the driver side Q45 housing lips(both sides) like I had previously done on the passenger side, just as extra precaution for keeping the end stops from moving outward. Coming up on this Friday, 7s on street tires

  3. Just look for any visible signs of damage, cracks/bends. Move the joint around and listen/feel for any abnormalities... For the diff gearing, pull the cover and look at the stamp on the gear itself. If you can't find/see the stamp, just count the teeth, lol.
  4. VinhZXT did something similar with one of his cars About half way down the page. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2079260/2
  5. Yeah, I was suprised my 60 ft times were still in the 2s even after dropping it at 2,200 RPMs.... I was going to try for 7s one more time after my 3rd run, but was a little afraid of something going wrong or breaking at that point, so I just went home. I'm going to buy me some full slicks here soon... MT drag slicks 26x8.5x15 will do just fine
  6. My car number was actually 80, but I guess they put in 280 instead, which is awesome
  7. 3.54 gears.. tops out in 3rd gear across the finish line
  8. The ONLY small problem I see are how the fans are mounted to it, which looks like directly to the radiator fins, big no no . However, that's easily fixable with a couple aluminum bars
  9. FINALLY got it back to the drag strip after the Q45 was put in... My previous best time was a 8.36@90.87 in the 1/8th. Went from a open diff R200 3.91 gears to the Q45 w/ 3.54 gears. NEW TIME 8.04@92.54 !!!! on STREET TIRES, that's OVER 3/10ths faster... WOOT My 3 progressive runs were a 8.28, 8.15, then the 8.04 The 8.04 was done by dropping the clutch around 2,200 rpms or so. Even at that RPM the car bogged a little and spun/wheel hopped 2nd gear BAD, I mean BAD If 2nd would have hooked I would have been in the 7s ! Tires I run on are the Toyo Proxes T1R 245/45/16 Here's my NEW favorite picture
  10. Call or go to your nearest Nissan dealer and cross reference part numbers
  11. I have 2 Q45 axles left over, not sure what side they came from... Do you know how long the passenger side is? I can measure them to verify...
  12. The axle has been reinstalled, with air tight cv boots this time ! So far so good..... I even drove it to work tonight ! woohoo I was talking to a mechanic friend of mine and he mentioned that if the cv boots were to get air in them that it could help pop the cv out... So, I made damn sure both ends had air tight cv boots. The more I think of the differences between each axle, that was it, loose fitting end stops... I did replace both passenger side Q45 housings with ones that fit the end stops GOOD and TIGHT, like my driver's side is atm. When I used my first pair of Q45 housings, the passenger side end stops were allowing air to get inside the cv boots, creating pressure and helping push the cv guts out. However, I also needed to add that extra end stop material regardless of that theory... If the axle holds up tomorrow morning coming home from work, it's off to the dragstrip to test out my new VLSD
  13. I found another source, just not sure if they sell them to individuals... http://www.hoseclamp.com.tw/products-engs.htm BTW, I'm using these atm for my clamps. Hope they hold !
  14. None of my local parts stores carries them. Oreilly, Autozone, Carquest, Napa...... I did find some, but this company seems to only sell them to businesses by bulk. http://www.murraycorp.com/index.pl/keystone_boot_clamps.htm
  15. Anyone have an idea on where to buy some? I need inner and outer clamps for a Q45 boot. I have looked with dismal results......
  16. Mark, I added a nut on the INNER Q45 housing, the picture you see is the OUTER Q45 housing, which was the side the "guts" were coming out from. The picture represents the furthest the "guts" will travel once the inner end stop has been hit. Do you think I need to add more material to the INNER end stop and push the "guts" further into the housing you see above? EvilC, the camber adjustment should move the positioning of the "guts", how far so, I have no idea... I'm also a little worried about the "guts" binding up on the welded nut I now have on the inside of the housing
  17. EvilC, yes the ball bearings or "guts" were coming out of the housing before the other end of the axle was able to hit the end stop. I got a large nut welded to the end stop earlier and put it back together for a test fit. The ball bearings, "guts" come out and stop just before the retaining ring. Here's a picture of the progress: Does this look ok and will it hold ???

  19. 7.07 @ 101mph ! Makes me want to hurry up on mine GOOD vid. BTW, how's the MS3 on the street?
  20. Got some time to work on the axle again today. I installed the axle without a boot on the outer joint to see how far it was coming out. Mark, you were right! I removed the retaining ring and pulled on the axle towards the diff and I could pull the guts ALL the way out before it hit the inner end stop. Hopefully tomorrow I can get a large nut or piece of steel welded on the inside of the end stop to limit the axle from coming inward so far allowing the outer guts to come out of the housing.
