  1. Oooh those are nice, thanks! The #1 appears to be for a 240z early setup, simple in and out resistor. The #2 seems to be right on the money. It does indeed look like the center pin is meant to bypass the resistor when starting (like i've read and people have told me, lol). So I should just be able to connect the two ends, leave the middle unhooked, and it should run fine (until I burn up my points or coil). Feel free to test that theory for me , j/k. That also tells me that I need to make sure I have the right type of dizzy in there (transistor type), which I think I do. w00t
  2. OK so my branch just broke, lol Somehow I wasn't looking at your heads, but MONZTER's P90, aka not matched to dished pistons. So I'm not sure where the confusion is, makes sense to me now. Never ye mind.
  3. I'll go out on a limb here, b/c I have a feeling it's the same thing I'm wondering. Why do you call it a "good match" when the pistons are of a stock style dish, and the heads are "relatively stock CC". I (as he might be) am curious what makes it a good match "despite the lack of squish", and despite not being matched to the combustion chambers?
  4. Hmm, well all I know is that with my N47 head, I was able to see a distinctive dish in my pistons (already knew they were, but...) I was even able to look in and confirm TDC while someone was cranking. Good luck!
  5. I dunno about you, but as long as you're not driving around town with it on like a doofus, I like neon and lighting effects for show quality cars. It adds to the pop, and grabs attention, especially at night. I don't really have a reason why I put interior neon in my Regal, bored likely, but I wasn't trying to "impress" anyone, I just thought it added to the essence of my car. Plus, if you're around some picky person that will think it's dumb, it's as easy as a flick of a switch (unlike vinyls, lol)
  6. If it's an N42 it'll have dished pistons anyway, and if it's a F54 you can definitely tell if dished or not just with a flashlight through a spark plug hole.
  7. I think they look amazing, just like your paint job. I'm hoping my attempt at a home-brew paint job comes out that well!
  8. Haha! Dubble ewe tee eff? Extra icon next to the report flag??? EDIT: Oh noes... dubble post! ARRRRRGGGGGG.
  9. The Z32 would definitely cost much more to get it where I wanted it compared to a S30, but that's me. But I'd also keep the 944, so...
  10. Do I see an extra shift knob in there you might be able to send me... I'd even take a 4spd, it'd confuse anybody who tries to drive it, lol.
  11. I've done some more digging into the limited amount of discussion on here about ballast resistors, and the consensus is that the resistor reduces the voltage from 12v to like 8v or so, so that the early coils (only rated for 8v) don't burn up and so the points don't corrode as fast. So I should be able to just leave it unhooked or bridge it's connections, and I'll be fine, at least for awhile. I have no way of knowing whether my random coil is good for 12v or only for 8v. I guess we'll see. Problem solved I suppose. We'll see this weekend. Fingers crossed.
  12. Congrats! I know you've been looking and waiting some time now. I know how it feels to finally get one!
  13. Well that diagram seems to be watered down a little bit from what my car has. It seems the 240z as shown in that diagram doesn't use a resistor, and the 280z as shown in the diagram I added above uses one with 4 connections. Sigh. I just need to buy a Haynes or Clifton manual. I have a PDF for a 77 280z, but it's not helping me here.
  14. Good to know, thanks BJ. I'm running carbs though, so I'll probably need it. I'm pretty sure I can't just leave it unhooked regardless, right?
  15. For lack of a better option, I think I may go with that autozone one. I'm just hoping that center pin is a ground, b/c that's how I'm going to do it, lol. I included another inconclusive wiring diagram.
  16. I've got the internals and glass from a door. I'll have to check, which side and get measurements, cuz I have no idea what it came out of.
  17. I just got back from the trip into Eureka springs. I ran up there to grab the alternator, fuel rail, and some screws off the one engine we weren't able to get when we got all those parts from that guy a couple weeks back. We actually ended up fitting the engine and all in my Regal, haha! It looks like a low rider in the back. Pics attached...
  18. Yeah they're getting better with each show. Audio is a never ending problem, since they WILL NOT be consistent with their speaking volume. We're working on it. The sound guy just has to get used to it. Thanks!
  19. Hokay so the member wasn't able to find the resistor he was going to send me, so now I need to find one elsewhere, and quick. Do yall know if http://www.autozone.com/R,NONAPP7022/store,3856/shopping/accessoryProductDetail.htm would work? It doesn't have the contact in the middle like the stock one, which I'm assuming is a ground hopefully?
  20. Ep 5 & 6 is available at http://uatv.blip.tv
  21. Ok I've now confirmed that all I need to get running this weekend is the resistor that goes under the coil. The condenser reduces noise, but is not necessary, especially on carbs. It also appears that i'll probably have fuel starvation at high RPMs, since i'm only running the stock 260z electric fuel pump, and not the mechanical fuel pump. Glad to have that cleared up at least!
  22. I wish someone would just manufacture and sell this kind of stuff, instead of it having to be all custom order. I'm sure if you made a single plane crank package (cam, head, crank, etc) people would buy it if you market it as "Ferarri sound" or whatever.
