  1. Oooooh I'm so getting one of the EGT gauges someday, that is AWESOME! A little pricey for my budget currently though, haha.
  2. I'm pretty sure that's the point of the fusible links, to blow when there's too much current, right? I know the blue one is not correct, that's supposed to be black, but i'll replace it later. I just want to get the car running next weekend, then work on getting it drivable next week.
  3. PM Sent. I guess by that description I need the resistor and condenser. I'm getting all these terms mixed up. According to the pics, I have what appears to be a condenser mounted to the right of the fusible links on my car. I wonder what it goes to...
  4. I think ross makes 87mm or 88mm pistons with the 240sx pin height, which is what I'm going to try to get, so I don't have to sleeve the block and can run the LD28 or offset ground L28 crank.
  5. Yeah I didn't know about that either, I'm definitely going to pick up a set now!
  6. Awesome. Yeah I think I figured out the dizzy based on the diagrams, but I wanted to make sure. I guess I'll just have to splice those wires, since my dizzy doesn't have that plug.
  7. Perfect, PERFECT! I now know exactly what I don't have. Now I just need to find out how to get it... THANKS A TON! So i'm definately missing that thing below the coil, presumably the ignition transistor unit, and the little thing above it, presumably the resistor, a member is sending to me this week.
  8. Awesome, if it doesn't work you can just email them to trumpetrhapsody@gmail.com , and i'll post em up here for other people to reference. Thanks!
  9. Whoop, too late. Now they're just talking about Porsches in general.
  10. Title says it all. Awesome! Want to try it Mikelly?
  11. Excellent, excellent. I'm missing the plug on the dizzy, but I'll get the idea from where the wiring goes.
  12. Just to check, is your dizzy the two wire type, green and red?
  13. Took 10min with above logos. Pro-bono EDIT: Then photoshop promptly crashed, without me saving the psd. Smooth. EDIT EDIT: It keeps shrinking the png, so I rar'd it in full quality. Enjoy. eleclogo.rar
  14. Yeah, just a couple of shots of all the wiring in that area. To the dizzy, anything near the dizzy, to the coil, anything near the coil. We're 2 hours ahead over here btw, so it'll be 10AM here, which is perfect. Thanks!
  15. Well as much as I hate to do this, my head is in a spin trying to figure out all this wiring. I'm new to this kind of thing. My 260z came with no motor or tranny, and my L28 didn't come with much, so I'm having to pull everything together from various sources. So far I've figured out that I'm missing the resistor (which a member is sending me), and now I'm thinking I'm also missing the transistor ignition unit. I've done plenty of searching here (about half of today), and couldn't find any pics to confirm, or much discussion for that matter. Also, autozone's website didn't list that they stocked one, so that could be a problem for me. My dizzy is the two wire type, red and green, by the way. I've included pics of the dizzy and nearby wiring, and the coil, and nearby wiring. The wiring diagrams have helped (included), but not completed the picture for me. I need to get everything I need rounded up and ready by this weekend, as I'll be receding to the shop in Oklahoma again, and at that point parts runs will be difficult. Any direction is helpful, links included. EDIT: Oh yeah forgot to mention, I borrowed the first diagram from a pic someone posted on one of the threads I found while searching. Hope that's OK with whoever's it was.
  16. Day 2 (yesterday) Alright well today I didn't get as much done as I wanted to. We mainly focused on bleeding all the sludge out of the brake system. It's looking like I'm going to need a new or rebuilt brake master cylinder, but at least I have clean fluid in the lines now. I also got my heater hoses connected, which are currently bypassing the heater core, which is all rusty and needs some TLC. Over the course of the weekend we also got most of the rust stripped off the headers using the calcium carbonate electrolyte bath method. They still need one more session to get the middle portion, then some blasting/grinding to get them cleaned up, then a couple coats of high temp paint and they'll be ready to go. So before I go out for spring break I need to: Get some soft brake tubing for the clutch slave cylinder Get a new or rebuild kit for brake master cylinder Figure out how to wire up the coil, alternator, and distributor Get some high temp paint Get the primer and related stuff so I can make an attempt at getting that done
  17. Any tenative pricing, as in $180 for a kit like normal ZGs, $300 a kit, more, less, somewhere in the middle? Just curious as my intrest in getting a set has been growing since we talked about them, haha.
  18. If you start a production run on these, i'll probably be wanting one at that point as well. Very cool R&D here guys!
  19. Day 1 I didn't have a chance to get the primer, so I'll be focusing my efforts toward the engine. It's proving to be a pretty decent effort in itself. Apparently I don't have the fuel rails I thought I did, and I didn't by the T fuel line coupler I meant to. On top of that, none of my radiator hoses fit, since this radiator was desinged with a V8 in mind. Anywho, we did a compression test and it's not too bad:Dry: Wet: 120 160 130 150 120 175 110 160 115 180 70 145 So, this means that the electronics are working. It seems like I need a new blinker relay, the the running lights don't work, and a couple other things. The brake lights, interior lights, choke light, ebrake light, defrost light, heater fan, and starter works though. So I'll have some gremlins to work out. I need to figure out what else I need to get ready for in the engine compartment before spring break. Apparently I bought the square exhaust port manifold gasket instead of the round, but I'll just have to deal with it. I'm hoping to clean up the headers and such and get the manifold and carbs mounted, that is if I have the bolts and nuts needed. I also need to get some brake tubing to use on the clutch slave cylinder. I forgot about that, so I'll have to bleed the clutch next weekend.
  20. I just realized.... I hope that's track or belt driven. I sure wouldn't want to be the one to have to back the car onto that thing. Twould suck big time if you missed...
  21. I swear i've seen this somewhere else recently... double post?
  22. You'd have to have multiple elevators, with multiple exits. Could get tricky. Maybe one elevator per 20 car section or something.
  23. Synthetic is a no-no for high mileage engines. The detergent will cause the years of gunk to break loose and clog stuff up.
