  1. I switched filters recently, and I'm debating if I want to sell the mounting plate for my old ITG filter. But I've got zero idea how much it should/would sell for. So, any ideas?
  2. Ah, I grok. I'd managed to forget that not all V's are 90 degrees
  3. Who, little old me? And according to the site, it uses ZX12R heads (no idea if that is better or not). I am a little interested on the price of the synergy engine. While I'm expecting it to be the same 30k+USD that the Hartley unit is, it'll be interesting to see what the difference is. I'd love to drop a screaming little v8 (well, or a little v12 ) into a Z, but for the cost, you could get a kick ass L30et or L32et setup....with money for an entire second swap.... That being said, if someone designed a V12 based off of the S20 engine, I'd probably sell a kidney (not necessarily mine) for it
  4. 360.....you mean 90 degree crank? with each piston firing 90 degrees off from the other?
  5. Oh damn.....this thread just reminded me I'm syncing and re-tuning the idle on my mikunis on friday....not looking forward to that (looking forward to actually being able to idle though....)
  6. Look$ $imilar to the Hartley V8. Pair of 'bu$a four$ on a common crank ba$ically (Gro$$ $implification, but eh) I think it'$ the $ynergy one, but $ome company that I $aw $elling that kind of V8 gave a TBO of only 30 hour$. I gue$$ that'$ ok if you're racing a Caterham or 510 around a track only, but it doe$n't $eem like a really good $etup for a $treet car. That being $aid, at only 92 kilo$, it wouldn't be that hard to pull and rebuild
  7. That diagram and the actuator are actually for the HE351VE I believe. The Holset uses the moving plate with fixed blades; the Garrett (IIRC) uses a series of moving vanes instead to control boost. Also, I think alot of those sensors are to figure out when the turbo should be acting as an engine brake. The problem for gassers is figuring out which info isn't needed (or just how to control it in general).
  8. ...came by this thread on something completely unrelated (VNT stuff), good read though. And Tony, if you end up swinging through Castle, let me know, and I'll take a quick jaunt over
  9. Well, let us know when it shows up. If the condition is good enough, I'll probably pick one up from him (especially if you discover that the electronic connections on it are only sensors, and that it's all oil controlled.)
  10. You joke, but the pictures *are* exactly the same.....
  11. Well, I'll take that as a given, since I have exactly zero practical knowledge of w/m systems. That being said, I am talking 4 or 6 injectors, and right now I'm thinking more for it's cooling properties than for any direct power addition properties. ....damn, now I really want to try this out. Let me know what you determine for the amount of water/meth needed for different purposes, since I'm forseeing a trip to the pnp in my future. (though how I'm actually going to hook the injectors up to a pressurized w/m ring is yet to be figured out). Oh, and I'm just calling it MW50 now, since for some reason I can type that without thinking about it (MW50 was the mix code for the water/meth solution that the luftwaffe used during WWII)
  12. should be good to go. Just make sure all the jetting is the same, and be sure to sync them.
  13. My idea is to use high pressure lines (atleast 10-20psi more than what my max boost would be) with small fuel injectors, not headlight squirters
  14. Aren't most headlight/windshield squirters also usually just nozzles, with no ability to open/close? Seems pretty uncontrolled. And dammit, now I'm going to have to test out my own idea. Maybe I'll do it on my LD swap, and set them to start squirting at certain EGTs....
  15. Engine at what angle? Looking at the hood latch, it doesn't look like the engine moved at all....But the angle the Z is resting at makes it kinda hard to tell
  16. Glad you're alright man (or atleast good enough to be out of the hospital and posting). I'm going to agree with what people have said already: if the rear is still pretty much ok, tube it (or sell it to someone that will). And maybe it's just me, but it looks like it was primarily the right front that was messed up, correct?
  17. There's more than just those two I think. I know on each of my Z's, I've got three different key blanks. Best bet, if you have the originals to copy, is to just take it to a locksmith to get it copied. (or call the codes into them, they can cut based on that usually).
  18. I've thought of doing something similar, except using some small fuel injectors (like 4-6) arranged in a ring around the intake tubing, feeding off of a high pressure ring. It seemed like a good idea to me, since people could tune it almost exactly like the normal ones.
  19. Looks pretty cool. Didn't realize you were on us2, so I ended up being on us4 when I registered any other hbzers on? It seems pretty fun...
  20. My mileage just took a dump today. New filters and setup have me running stupid rich on the mikunis, and since partial throttle is also indexed off the idle.....yah, not good
  21. stories like this make me glad I know the guy I do Basically every private shop within an hour of here has him on speed dial for hard to find parts. Like the 8.5" brake boosters for a '73. Never knew how rare they were till I needed a new one. Couldn't find one (new or used in ok condition) over about a week of searching, called him up, and three hours later he's getting one completely unused mailed down from sacramento (maybe 3hrs away). I'm almost afraid to ask if he knows where any HKS surge tanks are, since he'll probably find some
  22. I've seen far too many crazy miatas to ever think that they are a girls car......now it's a girls and racer's car in my mind
  23. If you really want to flip it, I'm interested in it for a diesel build, since it's the only one other than the HE351VE that I've seen that's VGT.... Edit: Hell, I'll call dibs if someone hasn't already Let me know what you decide
  24. Me Ah well, getting my carbs retuned for my new filters this weekend hopefully, so I won't feel the need to convert any time soon. (atleast till after my LD28(T) swap)...
  25. I've gotten everywhere from 12mpg to 20mpg. Average since I started recording has been ~16-17. That being said, my engine is nowhere near stock. Wild cam, plenty of carb, but only in front of a four speed. It isn't helping that recently I've only been doing either city driving, or high speed dashes for a mile or two on the freeways.
