  1. I have not yet heard back from the webmaster about getting a diesel Z forum set up on the front page, one that can be easily subdivided into specific thread topics. Do you know who to ask about setting up a forum, I am sure it would help if you would ask as well.

I did look into just starting a thread, but there is no means of creating sub threads to cover issues individually.

    We need a forum.

  2. Cool, thanks for the info. ....damn, now I have to add volvo engines to the list of sixes to think about for the future....
  3. I think the sound of triple mikunis, and then those same mikunis having the throttles slam shut when I see the cruiser, has gotten me out of more than one speeding ticket.
  4. [noob] What do you guys mean when you refer to an open deck?[/noob]
  5. Yah, there's some LOOOOOONG messages that need atleast parts of it made available to everyone All we need is a sub forum to 'Other engines'
  6. Don't know which one you need, but if you figure it out, let us know. This seems to be the best solution to my problems with my ITG filter...
  7. If I was running a stock LD28 that'd be fine, but with the extra boost I'm running, I wanted something a little sturdier.
  8. I know it won't hurt a R200 (which is why I'm probably going to be going with the 3.36 R200), my concern is more about the transmission itself. The rear end honestly was more about finding a gear tall enough I believe I've actually found a solution as well to my transmission worries, which if it pans out, I think will be a first on HBZ. I should know in three weeks at most one way or another, so I'll be sure to let you guys know. If I'm right, it'll a) bolt right up to an L series block, and hold a fair bit more than the stock 5spds.
  9. The worst part is I know where a MB of the right year/trim is for it to have one of these heads is located in the local PnP. WAY back row, four in......
  10. People's idea of driveability with regards to these cars is pretty flawed. I'm running a cam that most would consider undriveable for street use, but I DD that car for my job. The thing to remember is that these cars are LIGHT. There really isn't all that much mass to start moving.
  11. 10:1 is WAY high for any street driven turbo I would say. Look around, most of the guys building turbo engines stick with ~8.5:1, with some going down to 7.5:1 so that they can push serious boost and power on pump gas. And to give you some more idea of what 10:1 is like on L series: Most NA guys don't even go that high. Heck, my Rebello engine is only ~9.3:1 (still a screamer with the right timing advance )
  12. what ever happened to him anyway? And I've been thinking of solving the no room problem by getting a set of those metal car stands from one of the many dealerships that is going under around here. Get a pair that raise the car a foot or so off the ground, should be more than enough so long as I don't have to mess with the tires/brakes/etc
  13. I'm going to have to look into that hanger idea, what with an old AFB just a few miles away
  14. The reason I'm going with the LD is that I'm getting it for free though As far as I know, nobody has built a LD28, and this one isn't even going to be 'built' per se, just boosting it and increasing the fuel pump capacity. This also means that nobody has any idea of what power it will make, and since I'm going to need a trans and taller rear end anyways, I'm figuring I might as well get something I know will stand up to what *could* happen.
  15. So special they make jackets just for you
  16. Interesting, never saw either of those before. But mine will be a turbo diesel, hence the worries It's looking more an more like a Z33 trans is the way to go, assuming the shafts match up (anyone know one way or another on that?)
  17. I second the request for photos. I want to add them to my "basketball bat" collection (like the cam that was completely wiped out, but there's still a pair of 'ears' or 'tabs' from the original grind that are perfectly fine.)
  18. Damn you for putting crazy ideas in my head, DAMN YOU I SAY!
  19. Jesus. So, is the drive shaft measured in inches, or did you just hook the rear end right up to the trans
  20. Has anyone done a Z33/Z34 trans swap onto the L series? Mag58, any idea how much modding would have to be done for that? I can get MB stuff for stupid cheap from the same guy that's hooking me up with the LD, so that does have some appeal...
  21. So reading this thread it looks like OBX gets a passing grade as long as you pull it apart to check that the gears are in the right way, and redo the washer setup?
  22. It's going to be actually more of a long range cruiser car that has stupid torque on tap if it needs it. I'm not planning on doing any drags/racing with it. Atleast not on the first engine Guess I'll have to keep looking around at transmission options... Do companies make different ratio internals for the R200s or the Z32 R230s? Or is it more of a 'once you've got a ratio, you're stuck with it' kind of deal?
