  1. What I hate are the emails with only the link to my own ad in them and a question mark. Or the people that link you to some insurance website. Those I tend to sign up for....less than work safe newsletters
  2. What's the hood on that green Z?
  3. Nice writeup. Bookmarked for when I get around to my M104 swap
  4. Wrong forum man, this is the cars WANTED section. Also, you might want to read the rules about selling stuff on this website before you try again...
  5. I've got a '78 280Z north of you in Merced if you can't find anything closer. No engine/transmission though (don't know if you're looking for a fixer upper or a clean slate).
  6. You know it's the end times when Bob isn't drooling about a M104 anymore But that's an awesome motor, and I look forward to following the swap progress. Should make a mean little Z
  7. Actually....would it be possible to have a setup loaded that never fires the injectors that you could load when you part the car? I'm a carb guy, so I have no idea how hard that would be, but it seems like it would stop anyone without a trailer/flatbed from steeling the car, since they could crank it forever and never get it to fire...
  8. If you know where it's going, any chance you could call the crusher directly? Once it's there it seems to me like it isn't the banks business what happens to it anymore, and I'm sure they'd love to sell a car for a profit instead of crushing it. Or any chance the bank will let you strip it of useful parts first? Sucks to crush a Z, but if it's only the shell that'll lessen the blow....
  9. This idea came to me when replacing my battery today. I figure we all need a place to tell the stories about stuff that doesn't so much make us mad, just annoys/bugs us about cars. Right now I'm bugged that various battery makers not only make their batteries slightly different in size, but they also swap around the terminal locations. I just spent 30 minutes installing my battery, which should have taken 5 minutes tops because Duralast and Interstate changed just enough....
  10. First, as mentioned, lay off the caps. Second, the nissan diesel forums can probably help you far more than we can, considering they have an entire subforum just for the LD28 engine: http://nissandiesel.dyndns.org/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=3c4f6873a487d4ed3980c3c4c1f8aa8e
  11. 50 or 60 something here.....even though I'm 22
  12. Sounds like you should be fine as long as you pour oil on the cam and chain before starting, and crank it for a little without spark bit to get oil into the system.
  13. Might be the fuel boiling as well. Does it not start *at all* when hot, or does it just take longer than usual?
  14. Hmmm......I'm halfway tempted to get a set for idle tuning my Mikunis. I can get idle air fine with the old school hose and ear method, but idle mix on my engine is far far less precise (changing temps during the test, etc).
  15. My parents (who grew up driving in new england) contend that californians are actually pretty good drivers once they're into traffic, what freaks out people from other states is how in traffic everyone is ~30ft from the car in front of them....at 70mph+, and yet in general it isn't a problem. Now, prius drivers, THEY need to learn how to drive (or pull their heads out).
  16. Probably also depends on the manifold. I know some manifolds (like my Mikuni shorty) lift the carbs upwards a bit from the plane of the intake ports.
  17. Isn't the new Fiat engine using solenoid actuated valves for atleast one side?
  18. If people are interested, I can post the pictures of my cable setup on the triple mikunis when I get the pics for Yetter.
  19. Nice pictures. Good to see that they made them to survive Yetter, sorry about not getting you those throttle linkage pictures, came down with something that's kept me in bed a few days.
  20. ...book marking this for further reading, otherwise I'll be up even later than I already am
  21. I think I now know the answer to "When is enough enough?"
  22. I used to prefer carbs for the simplicity....and then I had to completely retune my mikunis because of the winter/summer gas blend change....after that, I'm going EFI as soon as I have the money for it.
  23. ...search search search search search Now that that is out of the way, I don't think we can really give any advice until we know how much power you want, N/A vs. turbo, etc. Also, (as I think I say in any thread mentioning cams), there is a *vast* difference b/w what is streetable in a Z and what most would consider streetable. These cars are light, so they don't need much to get them going. If you want easy power, you likely can drop a L28et head/intake/exhaust/turbo/ecu assembly right onto your engine and run it just fine. That'll run you...very little out of pocket If you want NA power though, be prepared to spend a little more $$$ for less power.
  24. http://www.mediafire.com/?dzttczzgo2m Mikuni manual for any future issues
