  1. Woohoo! Time for you to road trip it over here and make some 11 sec passes! Congrats G
  2. when I first swapped my motor in with 2.5" exhaust and a k&N filter, stock 7 psi boost stock intake manifold, stock TB . . .everything the car ran a 14.9 @ 90mph
  3. hehe gas mileage? right now my a/f ratio is like 10:1 below 3500 rpms, so gas mileage is kinda out the window. but thats the stock fuel map for ya. had to richen the whole map with adjustable FPR in order to get it safe on the top end. So the good side is there aren't any gas fumes when I'm hitting 15 psi! Maybe some clutch fumes . . . I'm headed back to the track tonight so I'm hoping for a 12.5 wish me luck!
  4. Let's go back to the part where we were talking about my car being a beast on the streets of Chicago! I like that part. haha
  5. Hey alabama suckers . . . get those Z's running and in the 12's!! haha I think Ivo would say that that "polished" IC is good to get you in the 10's! How bout you road trip it up here and we have a little showdown, l28et style. G
  6. My ORIGINAL stock headgasket didn't blow until I gave it 18psi and the car was running extremely lean. If the car had been tuned properly I think it would have held just fine. Got mine from courtesy nissan, they were not as knowledgeable as I was expecting but there prices are good. Garrett
  7. HAHA Forrest. What a mess! Doesnt matter that car still seriously moves! Slam that door for me while you're at it!
  8. ok so I pulled the o-ring off and cut part of the plastic shell off so you can get the hose over it . . .no problem. But on the other end, the nozzle caps are different and the 370's will not seat all the way into the hole. are you supposed to take them off or somehow switch the caps from the stockers? will the injector work with no cap on? thanks Garrett
  9. Alright I am trying to swap pads on my stock front 280z calpers. Is it possible that the piston can seize in the extended position? One of the pads was worn all the way to the backing plate and grinding like crazy. So I pulled it apart and cannot for the life of me compress the piston so I can install the new pad and fit it around the rotor! I've Used a C-clamp and it won't budge. Help! I'm trying o get this piece to reynold in 2 days! Garrett
  10. This was a great day. Sam Bluto, Ivan280zt, and myself all went up to Mat73gnz's house and welded up the IC and sectioned some strut tubes for Ivan's car. Well I just had to take this picture! The long section of IC pipe just looked too perfect . . . Here's how it turned out . . . The IC is a Spearco 27x10x3. It just barely fits width wise. Hope to see alot of you at Reynolds! Garrett
  11. Well I'm installing a new 6 puck clutch and want to make sure that there is no reason for it to slip so I figured I should resurface the flywheel. I heard that there is a "glazing" effect that happens to the surface of the flywheel that prevents the clutch from grabbing at full force. My Flywheel doesn't have and grooves or anything. The problem is that I dont have an impact wrench and that makes it really difficult to get off. Can I just go over the surface lightly with fine grit sandpaper or something like that? How neccesary is getting the thing resurfaced? Garrett
  12. Yes they will work, I just bought a B&M Ripper shifter for a mustang T-5/T-45. Bolts right up
  13. Dremel + Tungsten cutting bit = 20 min all done! I just slotted the mount and the ears on the tranny itself and it fit just right. I had my driveshaft shortened about an inch and balanced for about $100-120.
  14. You know I have to disagree . . .Keep that stock T3 on there for . . . .indefinitely and ship that Hybrid to: 881 Driscoll Ct . . . . . hehehe
  15. Ditto. My driveshaft shop shortened and balanced mine for just over $100 and had it done within 24 hrs.
  16. It is pretty crazy that a skyline has never won. Even though this time it was 100 pts in the lead when it went kaboom! In the end I think Chen just played the game well. He launched it easy in the 1/4, burned up the tires when he could and paid 2 other drivers for different parts of the contest. Definitely not the way I would have done it but . . .hehe I'd have busted my car up in no time!
  17. I've always liked the seats from some of the z31 turbo's. I got a set from an 86 turbo. Very comfortable for road trips and I love the side bolsters, they really hold you in. Mine are black and appropriatley read "Turbo" across each seat!
  18. Well I was 14 when I first got into Z's. A buddy of mine was just turning 16 and had purchased an '85 300zx turbo. The car was extremely clean and I took a ride or two in it and that's all I needed. Soon I knew twice as much about z's than he did and I didn't even own one! So as my 16th birthday approached, I was really hunting. Finally I came across a good deal on an '84 z31 turbo. I was so stoked. I talked to my dad about it and eventually won him over. He wanted to be the one to make the sale though. I can remember my dad talking to the seller on the phone. I had picked up the other phone in my room and was eavesdropping on them. The seller said," Well, I've been into mustangs for a long time and I've had this car a couple of years. I put a boost controller and exhaust on this car and let me tell you, this thing is fast! Faster than several mustangs I've had." Well my dad replied," Hmm, I don't think I'll be telling my son about that!" Haha so we bought the '84 turbo . . . and I was ADDICTED. Good grief did I race everything in sight with that car. Eventually I bought an '87 turbo but not before I had sold the '84. My parents thought I was nuts with two 300 turbo's sitting in our driveway! Anyways the '87 didn't stick around for long and I went off to college with no car. The summer before my freshman year I was home in Florida and came across a '76 280z for sale in the paper. I think he was asking $800 for it. At this point I think my parents thought that my previous addiction had been a phase, since I'd been out of it for a couple of years. SO I went to check the car out, really clean body very little rust and it didn't run. He had no idea what was wrong with it but his parents were making him get it off they're property So he sold me the car for $200. A few weeks later I swapped in a $3 fuel pump relay from the JunkYard and she fired right up! by Spring i threw some tires on it and drove it to Chicago! Now she's got an L28et and rapidly progressing my addiction . . . . . . .
  19. Search doesn't work so . . . Just curious. There is a local shop here that does alot of SR20 swaps and he swears by the microtech Engine Managements Systems. They are an australian company that just came to the US not long ago. It can be operated with a laptop or handheld interface. It can manage stock ignition or provide coil packs. Also it is wide-band compatible. Manages ignition and fuel. The best part is that he can hook me up for around $800-900. ANyone ever used it or know anything wrong with this setup? He said its used on alot of high-powered skyline in aussie Thanks, Garrett
  20. I think all I have left connected is boost gauge, brake booster and FPR vacuum hose. I will say that if you live in a cold climate like I do, not having the cold start hooked up can be a pain. Lately its been like 15 degrees and my car doesn't want to idle at all until its warmed up G
  21. Any explanation for the fact that it drives well when cold but not when warm? Really pickin my brain on this one.
  22. Hey Guys, I've been trying to diagnose a problem with my friends 87t for a while now. Here's the rundown: Problem: When the car builds boost it doesn't accelerate hard at all. Basicallly feels like the car is N/A. The one exception is during the first 5 min or so when the car is cold, it pulls hard like it should, but when it warms up it won't do crap. (highly technical term) 1. Car idles fine and revs freely when not in gear 2. Car passed emissions just fine 3. Installed boost gauge and it reads 16.5 psi vacuum and builds 6 psi boost. Car is stock by the way. 4. I pulled the intake off and checked play on the compressor wheel and it feels nice and tight. 5. I've gone through and tried to look for vacuum leaks, replacing a few lines and couplings but this had no effect. 16 psi seems low to me though so perhaps there is still a significant leak somewhere. This problem first arose after the car overheated badly one day, the water pump went out. So perhaps this is related. Is it possible that the FPR is not referencing boost correctly and not giving enough/too much fuel under boost? Ignition? Somehow I think it is temp. related to the overheating and the fact that it drives nicely when cold. Sorry for the long post. We really want to bring this car with us to SEZ so your input is appreciated! Help! Garrett
  23. OMG! by the time I'm halfway through I'm almost in tears. 36. Can't have flashbacks to wars I was not in. (The Spanish-American War isn't over). 78. I may not call block my chain of command. 201. Must not valiantly push officers onto hand grenades to save the squad. Hilarious
  24. That lightweight carbon fiber shell is pure wickedness.
