  1. Sorry that Dan is such a tease!!! All I'll say is, it's progressing nicely! Mark p.s. Dan, I saw your Z today!
  2. Someone here once posted a pic of what appeared to be a RX7 with a single coil spring mounted horizontially between the rear strut towers. My question is has or can this be done to a 240Z? Why you ask? I need to run at least a 275 rear tire and eliminating the coils around the struts would allow this. Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated! Mark
  3. I went to the BFGoodrich.com and didn't see anything about a 245/50/14 Drag Radial? Where did you here about this? Mark
  4. I like the idea of reinforcing the unibody from inside, rather than adding subframe connections under a car that already has poor ground clearance. There is a thread discussing the reinforcement of the Z unibody in the Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis forum under the title "Why a unibody?" with many knowledgable contributions from various members, good stuff! Again, how much? And what gauge is the sheet metal? Mark
  5. There's a company producing a magnet wrap that goes around the oil filter and captures the metal particles in filter for easy disposal. I can't remember who makes though! Mark
  6. By telling us and not listing the thread, you are teasing your fellow HybridZer's! So what LS1 site is that? Mark
  7. Grumpy, is the lastest version of Desktop Dyno-(2003)? significately better than the previous version? Is it worth the price to upgrade? I purchased my current version over two years ago. Mark p.s. I've got a set of Brodix -11's that were professionally ported for a sprint car and short of having them bench-flowed, I have no idea what they flow? Any DD-2000 flow numbers for these heads? Thanks!
  8. Is anyone using the "new" DD2000 program? Is it significately better than the previous version I've had for the last two and a half years? Is it worth the money to upgrade? Mark
  9. Come-on Dan, post the pics or I'll have to post some! Mark p.s. Did you get what we went to see that Saturday?
  10. Congrats "Devil Dog", on getting your Z "good to go". Go easy on the break-in, though that shouldn't be too difficult considering the max speed limit over there is what 50 klicks? Okinawa was my first tour of duty back in the early 80's and I remember the local street racer scene well! When are you coming back state side? Mark
  11. Way to go guys Great job on slamming someone who spends the time and effort producing custom quality parts for our Z's. If you self proclaimed experts don't approve of the parts, don't buy them! In other words, "PUT A SOCK IN IT!" Mark
  12. katman wrote HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! Mark
  13. I already have AutoCad 2000, I just want the drawing e-mailed to me:) Mark
  14. I don't believe anyone really knows how strong the R200 is or how much power it can withstand, because it's the halfshafts or stub axles that break first! It would be interesting to see a bullit-proof set of halfshafts and stub axles in a high powered Z to see what it would take to break a R200! Mark
  15. 74_5.0L_Z, any chance I could get the AutoCad drawing of your tube chassis front clip? I love what you've to your Z! Did you retain the original Z suspension/ mounting points? The power I'll be making will require reinforcement of the complete chassis. Mark
  16. John, are you working on a G-nose? Many of us work prefer buying from you than spending our monies else where! Mark
  17. Since when is a "stock Z" a F1 or CART? I value your input Katman, but please read my post again... Mark
  18. A properly constructed Chrom Moly full-chassis Z would weigh significantly less than a stock Z. Mark

    JTR??

I believe Mike D. aka "73BOTIZ" is making small block Ford mounts. Mark
  20. I haven't read the Mustang write-up but it sounds like they were testing the straight-cut gear set that G-Force offers. But remember, G-Force offers a helical-cut gear set and I spoke with the G-Force tech boys who build them and they said that the helical-cut/synchronized gear set can and does handle 600 hp or 500 ft. tq. in a 3300 lb. vehicle, their test mule runs low 10's with this setup. This should be plenty strong enough for 99% of the hybridZ's here. The straight-cut gears can handle more HP/TQ and allow "speed shifting" but are noisy. Mark
  21. Hm... well folks I've got mixed feelings on this one. First, I'm a firm believer of "to each his own" or "whatever turns your crank" philosophy when it comes to "vehicles and stuff". But is that what we are talking about here? Example: I was in H.S. in the late Seventies and my first car, thanks to my step-dad, was a 67 Pontiac GTO. Yes a "classic muscle car" and yes the first thing I did was to mount 15X10 Five Spoke Craigers with N50 MT's on the rear! But remember, I had a 67 GTO equipped with a 400ci Ram Air, TH 400 and a 12 Bolt with 3.55's! I can still smell the smoke from the tires! Note: I never revved imaginary opponents. NOT, I repeat NOT a "Econo-Box wantaba with ground effects, custom wheels and a 4 inch fart pipe"! (Owner claims it does 10's in the quarter) :malebitchslap: What I'm attempting to say is that what my generation did was for Real Performance, not the appearance of performance. I thought that was what HybridZ was all about? Performance first, like my generation, real performance! Today's youth have it "ass-backwards" and that's because they don't have performance cars to begin with! A Honda CRX is a performance car? Yes, IF you apply enough money it could be fast, but hell, if funds permitted I could build the worlds fastest "Briggs and Stratten" lawn mower and beat them! But after its all said and done what do you have? Come on say it, that's right a lawn mower. Same difference folks! By the way, the performance crowd in Japan don't run Honda's and such. No, they run Skylines and Supra's. Real performance cars... Think about it. Well I've said my bit, flame me if you want, but I had to vent... Mark
  22. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... oh is it done yet? Mark
  23. If I'm really hungry a 4X4 with grilled onions is quite good! Never had it "animal style" but it sounds good:) I also like their fries, but they have to be HOT! Man I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Mark
  24. Brett, your friends story about having to "strip his car" has me puzzled. First, I assume this was in California, since you mentioed the CHP. Secondly, you said he had a " 64 Mustang" and had to remove all the HiPo stuff. Well unless there was some sort of vehicle code violation,( no headlites or open headers) how would he have been forced to strip his car? Smog equipment was almost non-existant back in 64 and California smog requirements only go back to 1966! Either I'm missing something or something stinks! There's NO WAY I'm "poppin" my hood short of a court order! Mark
  25. Why are you worried? It's a 71, so there is NO SMOG INSPECTION required! And why are people here worried about what "might happen" in the future? 99.9% of the things people worry about NEVER HAPPEN!!! Just build the damn car and if something changes in the future, then deal with it! In the mean time, HAVE SOME FUN!!!!!!!!! Mark
