  1. the 550's bolt in and are low impedence, just like the 7m, the jdm 4th gens have high impedence 440's, i think just like your mr-2, i might have that backwards, but im pretty sure your mr2 turbo does not have a resistor.
  2. turned on the vcr, recorded to the tape ran out,had another tape ready.... as soon as i get out of college, if i can get a good job to support the hobby, thats where I am going, im building a spec car, and im driving in the dirt, snow, ice, grass, mud, water, road, whatever... I had a chance to do it once with a friend in a rally they hold in tennessee, i fell in love.. driving a mitsu galant vr4, SO MUCH FUN !!!
  3. probably, i know i can sell you the engine cradle we made, the transmission mount i dont know about because we built it on the car, i should be able too, but im kinda busy now with work and such, it would be a little bit before i had a chance to do that... the transmission is the r154, came on the 86.5-92.5 toyota supra turbo, its a bullet proof 5 spd, australians use it for all sorts of swaps. i can do 400rwhp on a harder disk, stock plate, makes for near stock driving, easy and slippable, awesome, and they will hold up at the 280ish ill be using daily(8psi) for miles and miles. I like the 7m because if you dont want a great deal of power, below 450rwhp lets say, and you put arp studs and a metal head gasket in it, you can put a to4e on it or an upgraded ct-26 (stock turbo) and it will be EXTREMELY reliable, and since it was meant to push around trucks, then dropped by toyota into the 3600-3800 lb 3rd gen supra, pushing a 2400lb Z is nothing.. it moves quite quickly.
  4. mounts were all custom, i used the r154 5spd trans. av240z - i dont own a digi cam, but my gf does, i have some pics on it of the build, i can probably get them e-mailed to me if thats cool, the car right now isnt complete though, its been torn down completely, as with most of the projects on this board, mine was beign completely built, motor and suspension, as well as an interior and body makeover. We put the motor in, ran it, now its back out, im a perfectionist, and im actually wiring all my elec. controllers into the stock wiring loom.. probably more trouble than worth, but it keeps it super clean. if you want some pics of it in shambles i can take a few more.. you tell me...
  5. thats gonna have to be your decision and your decision alone, fitting isnt too tough, i have been a toyota guy forever, so when i went to build my car, it was no question, my z was getting a 7m or a 1jz, right now it has a 7m, ill probably put a 1jz in it someday, but i have another project to start on once my z is finished.. so it will be awhile, if you have any questions about the 7m swap you can e-mail me or a guy on this list with the sn Clifton, he has done it as well. or if you have any questions about the 7m in general feel free to e-mail me. 6. I wasnt referring to any one car in particular. I just dont see how cars like these two belong in the same thread.. May the car Gods forgive me for putting them in the same post. I appreciate every car for what it is, the gts and chevelle maybe 2 different cars, and these two are modded for completely different reasons, and thefore in my mind 2 completely different kinds of badass. And my thread was about badass cars, whats wrong with mixing imports and old school muscle.. if im not mistaken, thats really why this whole website was started in the first place...
  7. did you not like the 1jz e30 i showed you? c'mon, a little 1jz never hurt anyone...
  8. i liek the idea of the brown bread.. roughly how much would i need? say for the main interior, doors..
  9. yah, ill try to find more pics of it, i have some, its a z31, its in taiwan or europe or something, it has the r33 front friend, its rb26 powered if i remember right.
  10. Been looking but its hard to get a good answer. so lets go from here. I have a Z completely stripped of its interior, no carpet, no seats, no inner door panel, no nothing. What are some good things to do to sound/weather deaden the car. Someone on the Ga Z club said there is some stuff you can buy at napa, sounded like black stuff you cut to shapes then adhere on with a heat gun. What do you guys use to make the car sound more solid, and be a little more resistant to cold weather seeping in the thin metal floor boards? im having my doors redone right now so that the windows open/close easier and more correctly, and the door skinds replaced, and i figured he may know a way to fill holes with foam or something so they sound nice and solid... any tips for the rest of the car?
  11. Sean Wagner's z32... i'd hit it...
  12. the first car belongs to a good friend, will neely, makes 750+rwhp, you can see more on his car at 7mpower.com, same motor as in my z, the good ole 7mgte.
  13. some more while im here.. here are some good buddies with 1jz's... love that motor.. only a matter of time before one goes in my Z.
  14. I had to use car domain to host all my pictures... hahaha. its a picture gallery page, i may post some up of some of my friends supras and stuff. I have lots of good ones. I love that Chevelle.. i would drive that car everyday.. maybe i should build one like that with a lexus v8 in it..hmmmm
  15. I know we all love cars other than datsuns, and for many of us the Z wont be the only thing we build. so this thread is for other extremely badass cars that most people might not think of to build. ill start with the nicest 66 chevelle ive ever seen, this one is meant for cruising, and the baddest 70s corvette ever...
  16. so does the intructor who, lets say, downshifts, locks up the wheels swerves and flips the bmw, paralyzing the student have to pay? its an instructor's job to know a limit, when a limit isnt clearly known he should be able to recognize that at least and not have his student push it. but the same goes a student, most peopel who are attending a driver school for the first time wont be comfortable pushign a car to limits that most instructors would.. and therefore shouldnt listen to the instructor, i dont think the student who was told.. "go for second" should have been a) told to in the first place and done it if he felt it was wrong. I can think of a few occasions where i took a passenger out on RA, and my friends would be like.. go faster.. you can.. blah blah.. and i ignore them. I can also think of times when they ignore me, and im glad they do because i may have been wrong. There is no reason for an instructor to be pushing a car to those limits when it A) isnt there, and has nothing to do with the instruction.... In this case.. id put the blame on him, the student may have made a mistake by asking.. but the instructor could have done several things in this incident to avoid the damage, like saying no, being more careful, or most of all sticking to lesson and driving slow to show lines instead of racing down straights... John you may know more about this as you officially instruct.. but what good does it do to follow a line at 75mph with a student hanging on to thier belts, eyes shut, so that they miss everything. If i were an instructor.. id probably decline to drive a students car 99% of the time, infact at every track day or auto x where a friend has asked me to drive i have almost always declined, the few times i would drive or have driven have been instances were i was challgnged and i made it clear to the owner that if i busted up the car pushing it, it was to be fixed by them, and if i busted me up pushing it, it would be fixed by me. that way i am only responsible for me, that instructor was responsible for that car at the time...
  17. well thats what im getting at, i wouldnt just let any instructor drive my car around a track, i have the upmost respect for those guys, and they know a lot more about driving than most people, they also have more experience for the most part, but that doesnt mean they are equipped to driving a car like mine. Paul Reed was one of the fastest e-production drivers in the southeast a few years back, he could absolutely fly in a Z. so one of his buddies, w/ a 350rwhp 3.1 turbo let him drive it to show him what the car could do, he was completely unaccustomed to that type of car and nearly through it through a concrete barrier. It happen, people who work on hondas, turbo and S/c and whatever arent gonna be real comfy in a 500rwhp 454 big block chevelle. I dont know that i would just let ANY instructor jump into my car because i dont know what his history is. Thats not saying i wouldnt let anyone drive my car, just any instructor ive just met. I have no doubt that John can drive the piss out of a car, and im not saying im better than him, but unless he has my car all day long, i doubt he jump right in and drive it like i can.. or normally that would be the case. The bmw shifting problem is known, maybe not to that instructor because he was never in one, or drove one balls out like he did. 4th gen supras are notorious for spinning around on first time drivers because the sequential set up acts really wierd on them. I knew a local guy who bought a supra with a single conversion without ever having driven one, he had it down pretty good within a month, after a while someone asked him about a problem he was having with his bpu TT. the guy took it for a drive and in the middle of an intersection was doign donuts... does that make any more sense? I just wouldnt trust someone to do something because thier name tag says they can.... All ASE certified mechanics fix problems the cheapest and most correct way right?
  18. I have NEVER and will NEVER let an instructor drive my car. For the most part, the ones i have met aren't really experts at anything at all. they just drive decently and spend a lot of time at the track cuz they get paid too, thats like saying im a qualified instructor on the mountain backroads near my house because i drive them all the time real fast in my car and i can give advice on the fastest way through them because i have done it so many time... so um.. how many of you wanna come down here and let me drive your car through the mountain to show you??
  19. txe 3 is out... holy crap?!?!? i thought kaidou battle was the next one.. i didnt think it was coming out for a few months..
  20. its out, i think gt4 comes out in a few weeks, as does Kaidou battle...
  21. Hey, me and my bro been playing this game, its friggin hilarious. Car related stuff. You can break up/ participate in street races. You can win cars by illegally racing You can steal a 99ish civic si, blitz body kit, clear tails, red recaro type seats, big carbon fiber wing... etc. 69 muscle car looks alot like a gt500 convertable, or maybe a 69 firebird. Other than that.. tons of cool fight moves and stuff.. awesome game..
  22. i think ill be using a 235/245 up front with a 285 out back.. a happy medium between 235 and 335s...
