  1. Saving 50-75% of the weight over a stocker is nice, but I feel quite sure its bling bling factor. Otherwise people wouldn't bother buying carbon fiber wallpaper, or painting thier hood flat black...
  2. Does anyone know if this part was in fact completed? Cost? Part number? If so I'd love to call and get one!
  3. I'm looking into running a 2 gas sensor, they are reasonable on eBay if you watch.
  4. Doggonit, thats what I mean. This is a problem, people on the internet believe somehow that they have found the magic ticket. You want more exaust duration to help bring the intake charge into the cylinder, if not get a single pattern cam. If you plan on a turbo, run even more exaust duration. LS1s have potential to make awesome power period, they make the same power as LT1s with 10º less duration, 222/230 will make an easy 420 RWHP with good heads.
  5. Thats a 230/234 I hope There are a few people running less exaust duration, thinking that they found some miracle that none of the pros have thought of, but its because some of the folks with ported heads have excessive exaust flow ratio.
  6. Oh my gosh LoL, Len, I live in South City, maybe I'll pay you a visit someday or mabye not, I like my virginity...
  7. The LT1 starter is pretty good, but I am using an LT4 aka Vette starter (meaning came on the LT1 Vette also), since the LT1 unit cracked (Camaro LT1 that is). I think it was $159 new, no core charge, from a dealership in Florida. No problems at 11.4:1
  8. Those are the kind of folks you say, "uh huh" and just ignore em. A 305 LT-5, riiiiiiight
  9. I don't know how I didn't see this post Are you doing this on a stock bottom LT1? I know that around 550+ HP is where they are in risky territory, if you know of LJ's page he lost a rod and nuked the engine right around the 600/650HP area IIRC. He's in the 9s now on a 383... Here we go: http://para.noid.org/~lj/Boom3/Boom3firstlook.htm
  10. I remember reading somewhere about people using an RX7 fuel pump, external, for carb, but don't remember the year spread. Anyone remember this?
  11. Since they aren't bragging about a fully programable map, I fear the worst
  12. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=4329&prmenbr=361 I can't really tell if this is just programable retard, or a full timing map solution? Hmm... http://www.mrgasket.com/accelmain.html Yummy
  13. I was considering using an Accell instead of MSD, they have a "universal" kit which I imagine would work, or else they have a setup for older points style Camaro. One reason I'd like to use it, is for another $200ish I can addon a programable module, for full timing mapability!
  14. So true, there can be some things spread that aren't true but will believed, but for the watchfull eye if you spend some time there is EXCELLENT info on boards and member sites, on engine buildups, problem areas, suspension you name it, in that regard the internet ROCKS. To think that almost nobody believed the home computer would go anywhere, eh...
  15. I wondered about this myself, the Mustangs in CMC have a reputation for breaking thier axles as well. I guess the C4 IRS is an upgrade that will happen sometime then.
  16. I've heard of a 9" setup, but I'd go C4 myself, but thats for RR not drag.
  17. A used block is actually stronger than a new block in terms of heat treatment which naturally occurs over time, at least according to David Vizard. So supposedly many hipo jobs, heat treat a block and then re-machine the surfaces, or use a used block for the job and re-machine everything, since heating it in an oven will destroy the old machine job surface tolerances.
  18. Sheesh, narrow band box for $300? Forget it
  19. The spring acts like a torsion bar, so taking off a coil actually increases the rate, since there will now be increased resistance for the spring to squat down. It wont be a big difference unless your cutting off multiple coils, but still it would end up being too soft IMO to keep a car from bottoming out and riding the bump stops if you removed say, 2 coils in a 9/10 coil spring.
  20. That comes out to about 88.9mm so sounds like FelPro is ok.
  21. If you really wanted yes they can be coated, or polished - the purpose of such is for oil drainage speed, ergo nothing will want to stick to it.
  22. There is a Halmeter in the Motorsport Auto catalog, with about a 30 LED readout. Does anyone know for certain if this is a wideband kit?
  23. Mudge

    26.2 mpg!

Drain the oil, put sugar in the gas tank, lean it out more and go for even more timing. May as well drain the coolant too, and unplug the coolant temp sensor, and remove the cooling fan. That should do it!
  24. You are correct, you need a scan tool, the ALDL used to be dumpable to the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light but that all ended in 1993, the 94s will not work with a pin shorted either, need a Scan Tool. They are available for the Palm as well for OBD II, but I have OBD I, so I used FreeScan
