  1. The more I think about it, the more I think I'll just give him the $1500. Then I'll swap and trade the rear end, then re-sell it. If he's gonna be all about himself, I'll turn it around and make more off of it than he does. That should piss him off enough. Or maybe I'll just drive it while the 1st priority car is being worked on. Or maybe, I'll save the motor for my next project, or maybe I'll part it out, or maybe it's not in the condition he THINKS it's in, or maybe .............. ok, I'm finished.
  2. I put a 5" Phantom series in mine. I followed the advice found here on HybridZ (I think Tim originally said it) using some foam weatherstrip around the edge and stuffed it in place.
  3. You're right on track with what I was thinking about after I posted. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow. The ONE good thing ablout dealing with the brother-in-law is that I won't need to pay him until I get rid of the car. I thnk my window is about a month long which is good because that'll give me some time to mess with it.
  4. My brother in law came across an 88 ZX Turbo that his friend gave to him to sell. The sorry $%^$%^@ tried to play the "make me an offer" game. So, I asked my sis what the owner wants for it and she told me $800. Now, my brother-in-law wants $1500 from me, because he knows he can sell it for more. My question is this.............after the rear end is taken out (that's mine) could I still get $1500 for the car? It's supposedly in decent condition and all it needs to "go" is an alternator. Lets assume there's 150,000 on the clock and has good compression with little or no rust. I know it's all subjective to exactly what the condition of the engine/car is in but in a roundabout guesstimation, what do you think I could get for the rest of the car? Buying from the original owner's unfortunately not an option because he was on his way out of town when he signed the title over to my brother-in-law. It's a shame this guy (bro-in-law) is all about himself otherwise I could have a great deal on my hands.
  5. Sounds good, so how complete do they come? Flange to flange with the boot?
  6. I feel you brother. I'm at that same wall right now. New house, new baby and moved about 2 hours away from where I'm working on it. Blah.......I'm going back and forth with this decision all the time. I don't think I'd have the guts to sell it though. My whole family is expecting to see a finished product soon.
  7. I was browsing through Advanced Auto's online catalog via partsamerica.com and saw that they had the R200 halfshafts. New or rebuilt, for like $66 bucks a piece. Has anybody ever bought these? What are your thoughts on them? How complete did they come? (U-joints incl.?) I only ask because I'm getting to the rear end on my rebuild and the half shafts I have look a little rough and I'd like to get some freshened up ones.
  8. Nice job!!! I wish I had 1/10th the body skills that you've got...... Wanna trade Z's ???????
  9. GREAT info!!!! .... You definately went above and beyond my expectations. I was looking just for a finger in the right direction and you came through with much more. Very much appreciated....Thanks again!
  10. yeah, thats what I figured I'd do. I was just maybe hoping to find a newer one than what's in it.
  11. Hey, thanks for the help, it's GREATLY appreciated. I know that most, if not all, the 2.2's will fit, but I'm looking for a unplug/plug in type of swap with no real tinkering, I'm saving all that for the Z
  12. My wifes 96 Cavalier will no doubt eventually leave her stranded. It's got 178,000 miles and counting. I wouldn't be all that worried about it, but it has an EXTREMELY noisy valvetrain. It still has decent power for the car and nothing else seems to be wrong. I just would rather it not leave her stranded. Anywho........ I've looked all over the internet for compatiblity on what other engines would be a simple stock-for-stock swap, but just can't seem to find the info I'm looking for. It seems that the 2.2L from any GM should suffice, but I want to know before I buy something. Does anybody have a good reference for this type of information? Or can ya point me in the right direction? I just might not be looking in the right places..........Thanks guys!!
  13. I'm with Owen, on that one. I've got a sissy Pit Bull that looks mean enough to keep people away from the front porch AND to make the cable guy run out of the house even though he was locked in a kennel. His bark is worse than his bite really.
  14. How about TRU350Z With a plate frame that says: You can only read this because I LET you!
  15. I'm pleased with it. Despite what I heard about them before I bought it (trimming/fitment issues) I didn't have any problems. There was only minor trimming on one of the wheel well areas (1/4"), and the very top part that wraps around the lip of the wheel well needed a little touchup (was cracked during shipping I assume). Other than that stuff, it was a good fit and a really simple install.
  16. You guys are bigger men than me!! I scream, cuss, yell, gesture, get my heart rate up, and overall just get irate. I just can't help it. Other drivers are my biggest pet peeve in the whole world. Everybody should stay at home except me Honestly though, I really don't get mad if it's not their fault. Only when they're purposely driving like an a$$. I dunno, maybe I should just drive faster and keep everybody else behind me!! Surprising enough, I still have yet to get into a fight over it. But's probably because they don't pull over. I'm usually all for it if I get that P/O'd. Maybe I should work on these anger/aggression issues.
  17. Think they'd put the right gearset in it too if I bought it also?? Yeah, I know I'm being lazy.......
  18. Man, you guys are quick. Two seperate posts in the time it took me to write that last one.
  19. Wait a minute. The closer I look at it. It seems as if the wheels were just setting in front of the wheels that are actually on the car. Maybe I jumped the gun a little bit huh?
  20. Well geez........if I do that I won't make my mid Aug deadline
  21. Sweet, Thanks Tim. You know.....your making a habit out of being my saving grace. Wanna come put the motor in the car too ???
  22. $227.43 from Chevrolet. And that's for the bare bones piece. I've heard that the J/Y's don't like you to take just that piece off of the tranny's. Is there any truth to this? I'd really hate to spend that kind of money on that piece, but I really don't want to use the homemade "adapter" plates that are on it now. Anybody know a good source for this thing???
  23. OK, scratch the age thing. Yes, older and younger alike all have their driving superstars. I think that issues been debated to death anyway. Besides, it seems that people that pi$$ me off the most when driving generally are the older crowd. However, from a law enforcement standpoint (8 yrs exp.) If something happened in front of you and it caused you to wreck, you were following too close
