For those of you ready to join this forum, but were waiting for a member, with WAY too much time on his hands, to post a wacked out list, then this is your lucky day! First, for you Canucks, just add an "eh" to everything, like this = its-a-Z-eh, or like this = two4teeZ-eh Totally240 / Zspeak / 2-4-T-Z / BecauseZcar / Dotsun / Zlocity, Zelocity / 2fortyZ / Datzoom / S30sRule Z-licious, Zelicious / oohdat / Z-nith / Dat-Sun-Of-A-Gun / ZsRock/ Zing / RumpetyZ / ZanyZ / On these next ones, use a Jamaican inflection. Z-car-mon / Zmon / Its-a-Z-mon / or German/Jamaican = Dots-A-Z-mon I've had fun with this today, a nice break from my Sudoku. BTW, I have no idea if any of these are taken.... rather doubt it. Steve

Hey, toolman, you beat me to it. But thanks, I wasn't 100% sure it would work. Here's my version: Like you say, cheap, and easily knocked down. Steve

I think an Ecoboost would rock, great idea! My daily is a Fiesta ST, and my '73 Z is LS powered. The LS2 makes 400 horses and 400 torques. The ST is about half that, at 200 & 200. The ST weighs about 2750 and my Z, I'm guessing, is around 300 lbs. less porky. So yeah, a Z with just a stock ST, 1600cc Turbo would make for a very fun ride. A 4 cyl Eco turbo in a Z would add lightness and be the recipe for good handling. You'll have to get the suspension sorted really well too, in order to have a chance of beating your ST around a corner. Go for it Johnbian, blaze new trails, go where no one has gone before, you'll end up with a unique, fun car. I'd go that route if I had it to do over. Steve

Running a Tilton 75 Series, 3/4" master per their recommendation, for my LS2 w/ stock clutch. Earl's braided line.

Thanks to az240z, I've got a pedal box coming.

Just the box, don't need the pedals. Have Paypal bucks.

LS Plastic tank 240Z Regulator questions
Zzeal replied to Ryan Merrill's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Here's my set-up, an '02 Z28 tank feeding an '06 Goat motor with a Speartech engine harness. I had Speartech retain all the tank's emissions, so I did have to run a vent line up to the engine. Well worth the effort I thought, to avoid having a garage full of gas fumes... and it doesn't cost any hp. At the tank it's wired like so- Fuel pump wiring- Grey is power Black is ground Fuel tank pressure- Grey w/ black stripe is power Green is signal to ECU Orange w/ black stripe is ground Fuel tank vent- Pink is power White is signal to ECU -
My aerated John Washington fiberglass hood, with frame, weighs 16 pounds (7.25 kilos)

ssparko, I was about to have some "L" brackets welded to the tank sides, which would super simplify the install, but I ended up getting some aluminum channel from McMaster-Carr and mounting the rad on it. Also used McMaster for some fairly soft rubber for the saddles and for spacing the rad from the core support at top. BTW, the dry rad weighs 11 lbs., the Spal is 6, and the mount 2.

Is This Serpentine Belt Routing Going To Work?
Zzeal replied to Zzeal's topic in Ignition and Electrical
Thanks, tioga, for the suggestions. The routing has turned into a low priority because the setup as pictured seemed to work ok, and there's so many other things to get done on this car come spring. Steve -
Keith, I've got a stock JY LS2 also, and couldn't agree more. What's not to like about a junkyard engine that's compact, light, and puts out MORE than it's advertised HP rating (found that out at a dyno tuning this summer). I'm much more impressed with the prodigious torque! Torque in any gear, any RPM, crazy torque everywhere! Had mine out recently on a cool day, romped on it a bit in third gear, at about 45 MPH, and spun the tires! Now that's TORQUE! This is a whole new experience for me. I'm a lifelong small block chevy guy, and only got a whiff of torque back then. This new engine technology is pretty amazing to me.... keeps me smiling! Steve

Has anyone taped the water pump for A&N fittings?
Zzeal replied to cooperma's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
You're Correctomundo, Mike, I yanked the stock nipples and tapped for a 3/8" and 1/2" NPT plugs. I ended up having to buy an Edelbrock water pump, and it came threaded (female) in the same sizes. Steve -
Stock Car Mafia's '78 280z LS2 Build
Zzeal replied to Stock Car Mafia's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Nope, a cooler 'stat won't help.... tried that too. Seems 25% U.D.'s are for dedicated race/drag cars. -
Stock Car Mafia's '78 280z LS2 Build
Zzeal replied to Stock Car Mafia's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
From experience, I can tell you that a 25% underdrive damper will NOT work (well) on the street. It slows down the mechanical water pump too much, especially at idle, and you'll overheat. You could always run an electric water pump.... $$$, otherwise I'd advise just a 10% U.D. damper. Steve -
Is there a formula, or rule of thumb, about how much contact is needed between a 6 rib serpentine belt and an alternator pulley? I've only got about 38 degree's of wrap around the pulley, but I've got very little electrical going on, just an electric water pump and cooling fan, which together draw 29 amps, and only intermittently. On a rare occasion I might use the headlights. This is on an LS2, with the stock tensioner moved over from the passenger side. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet, I'm in the middle of upgrading my radiator. If you guys agree that this won't fly, then I'll maybe try a route from the top of the crank pulley to the top of the tensioner. The top of the belt would then barely clear the bottom of the water pump, and I don't know if these belts vibrate up and down a bit. Anybody know about serpentine belt harmonics? Steve

Here's a Griffin (made in S. Carolina) I just got from Summit ( part #1-55201-xs ). It's a 2 row with 1-1/4" tubes, and measures 15-1/2" X 24", just about perfect for an S30! A 14" Spal (puller) electric fan fits the rad just right. PM me if you go the Spal route, I found a really good source! I'm replacing my JTR (Stealth Conversions) rad, it's barely adequate for my stock LS2. Steve

Anybody buy a JCI kit recently?
Zzeal replied to socorob's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Mount it into an adapter like this and splice it into your upper radiator hose. PM me if you'd like to buy it. -
I had a local engraving shop do these plaques for me. They cover up the boring "Corvette" script and make for a conversation starter. My engine, an LS2, is considered a 6 liter, but is actually 5,967cc.

I need a used, inner weatherstrip, one that has been "broken in", sufficiently compressed, so that my hatch will sit flush with the body. I've got a new "Vintage Rubber" seal on there now, but my latching set up is not capable of compressing the new rubber. So, if you have one in excellent condition, I'll buy it. (Paypal) If you're interested in swapping for my Vintage one, that works for me too. Pics of my poor fit, and insufficient latching: Thanks, Steve

That's the recommended installation technique, no brackets allowed.

How do you post photo's so that a user doesn't have to click on (and out of) each individual photo? I see some photo's posted that have a "NEXT", clickable feature built into them. How do you do that? I use Photobucket. Thanks, Steve
