  1. you'd have a better return on investment buying beer and junking the cans at a salvage dealer
  2. already have someone protesteth to much methinks...
  3. I've a FS5W71B that has had the starter bulge cut and re-welded around the bell further for a Previous owners unfinished project. No use to me but the gears seem to change fine and the shaft turns easily by hand, I think postage from NZ to CA for the whole gearbox would be pretty prohibitive tho. Posting a 200x200x150 mm parcel weighing 3.5 Kg came to 32 USD approx when I was pricing postage for a Carbie I had listed on ebay. Thats surface mail 10 day transit. Since it's bellhousing has been altered and I've no need for the Gbox since I'm not going L series again and already have a M76 falcon box for the swap, I'm willing to pull it apart and junk the housing for the aluminium value, and sell the innards. $20 USD plus whatever postage comes if not to extorbinate to sound alright? If you weigh up the 5sp internal bits you want from yours and measure the length I can plug the size and weights into the post shops online calculator for a postage quote if you like.
  4. Get a quotation for a plumber to melt a blob of siballoy (Silver/tin/copper based brazing alloy) stick into the hole.
  5. I noticed this and checked out Georges profile, not active since '07. If anyone notices something on trademe.co.nz they want, i am willing to consider acting as a NZ agent for you guys.
  6. I had an 83 Laurel Medallist. & series BMW competitor, electric everything, heavy as sin, and with loads of options. It could beat many lighter cars off the lights with it's piddly little L20E engine, but would fall flat by the time it finished crossing the intersection. Gobs of pulling power at low revs on the motorway tho, cruise control up the bombay hills at 100Km/H when many other cars would be dropping speed down to 90 or 80. The L20 6cyl is actually an underrated engine IMO.
  7. yep, the local NZ Subaru dealers are currently considering their position on the local NZ rally scene... most dealers sponsor a subie owner in some rally here, whether that will continue will be up to the individual dealers themselves.
  8. I bought mine last year at 27, I first met the 280zx when Greatuncle Bill (the black sheep of the family) bought a boy racer car in his 80's, shortly before being told he failed the old age drivers eyesight test! bad timing for him I would have been about 14/15 at the time. Last year I was on the lookout for a project car, I would have been happy with anything front engine, rear drive with a long bonnet... RX7, 924 944 928, 2X0Z/ZX, Jag XJ6 XJ8. so long as it was a fairly good handling car. I ended up with a 280zx with no engine, engine bay cleared and dual V engine exhausts installed. I've a Rover V8 in the shed now stripped and awaiting boring out and rebuilding as money allows.
  9. Darn Tooting! How old is Bart now?
  10. if you want a renault donor engine... why not cut out the back pan and subframe from the 2+2 Z, and fit in a Renault 25 GTX engine in the rear under a pantera hatch? it's a FWD, front engine car with the engine running north/south and a 90 degree turn in the gearbox to poke the axles out sideways mid engine Z anytone? the 2+2 ought to give enough room behind the drivers seat to fab up an engine enclosure box
  11. 28, so a few years left in the 25-30 section.
  12. there was a post on this some months back. They're using them for outfitting the little groundsmans cart style trucks. Try the Search button BRAAP lol
  13. can you get J's racing to spring for the purchase price of the NSX? then buy the 240 and park it up in the back of the garage while you work on the NSX?
  14. best chance is probably to ask on an Australian Commodore forum. The Pontiac GTO is a Holden Monaro with a few badge changes and a new nose trim. There are a LOT more Monaros over there and the Commodore sedans use the exact same mechanical bits. Try PMimg some of the aussie members for the emails of their local junkyards?
  15. I've bought and sold a car on Ebay... Chev Monte Carlo with 350ci. A friend bought a car in the us and imported it for $1000 shipping. So I went and bought a car, then investigated shipping... cheapest I could find was $2000, which made it uneconomic, so I sold it again, still sitting in the previous owners back yard. for the same sum as I bought it... it can be done, and successfully, but it's luck of the draw...
  16. crossmember alterations and a cradle with mounts... it's not a bolt in thing.
  17. me? I prefer Demon... not even a hot S30 is going to get me to drink cocaine when Demon is available
  18. not if you're a good hand mechanically, but you will need a LOT more work than just dropping it in and bloting it up. Your best bet is to use the Search button BEFORE you ask and spend a month perusing all the threads. even the S30 specific ones will give you hints on what to do to the S130.
  19. like time out in the corner? at least one of the admins must be a school teacher
  20. only when they drop by to pick up another whale... and the NZD/FedCredit is rather weak at the moment, even if not as bad as the USD/FedCredit Would you like some transparent Aluminium? I can share the manufacturing process if you promise not to let it go any further just take your Ali you wish to make transparent and use a drill on it until you can see through it... the more you use the drill the more of the aluminium becomes transparent

  22. You might as well ask for a Klingon clocking device for your car, linked to the radar detector go invisible each time a cop car arrives in your vicinity
  23. Careful... you might end up vanished! Or at least titled "Vanished member"
