do you get the MGF in the states? after the head gasket has been replaced with a steel one then they're fairy reliable, cheap to run (1.8 or 1.8VVC) and pretty good handling and power (mid engine RWD)

try a new (2000 and up) cross bolt 4.0 RV8 with merlin (aftermarket V8, not WWII V12 Spitfire) heads and see how that revs up. some on the UK V8 site are getting 8K rpm from their RV8s, with a flat plane crank they would sound even faster revving.

the RD28 IIRC looks to be a mid sump pan, how would one of those work? I might drop by the hayshed tomorrow and have a closer look at the pan. What measurements do you need to know?

instead of searching for the crank, look for an old LD28 powered car. I know of a few on Trademe.co.nz that have been going for about $500. sell the rest of the car either as parts or to the scrap man.

fuel filters, pumps can't pump if they can't get the fuel to move it around. you don't specify type belond "car", S30 L6 I presume? Carb or EFI, so if EFI, try cleaning contacts on the injector harness. Others should pop up with other ideas in due course.
