  1. Is that for steel or aluminum?
  2. Get the VQ. Modern engine(rarer swap), better mileage, parts easier to acquire, same or better power potential. Mckinney has the mount kit for it now.
  3. According to the parts catalog, all the S130s have the same part number rear member from 9/81 to the end of production, the same date split on the lower control arms as well.
  4. I would have done it if the engine wasn't so damn expensive.
  5. The outside of my hatch lock cylinder has the code on it. Mxxxx is the form. Take the lock to a lock smith and they can get the key code from it and make a key. I actually just did this today so I could have real Nissan keys again instead of walmart crap.
  6. I think I'd try another engine, but to each his own.
  7. Looks ok, but that listing is for a Z32, which uses an 8 bolt crank. I think the single cam VGs used the 6 bolt crank.
  8. yet another unfinished project. there are quite a few with VKs that never were finished.
  9. It's a bit taller than the VH, and much bigger than an LS because of the four cam cyl heads
  10. I've heard different sizes for the fronts as well. Anyone have personal experiences as to what drops in?
  11. With all these requests for better pics of body kits, especially since MSA's pics are so bad, would it make sense to make a sticky post in the S130 forum for body kit and wing pictures, labeled properly?
  12. There are only four confirmed and running VK56 swaps that I can find. All four are chopped up drift cars with no accessories(1 Z33, 2 G35s, 1 S15). No one has gotten one running in a real street car, much less an S30 or 130.
  13. No other transmission bolts directly to the VK56 other than the one than came with it. Try Wilcap for an adapter.
  14. Do you have any close ups of the housings you are using? Also, any good pics or videos at night?
  15. I'm definitely going to get the bi-xenon bulb so I can keep the high beam. What I'm worried about is the conversion housing. I have a cheap set in the car right now with some bright H4s and the reflectors suck in them. There are conversions out there with lots of reflectors that would work good with the H4 bulbs I have now. The problems is that most HID/xenon lights look bad in reflector based light housings meant for bulbs and look better in a projector style housing.
  16. What HID kit and housings did you use? High and low beam HID?
  17. The color on my car is factory. Color code 072, dark brown metallic.
  18. My 83 has an upper and lower cable. I guess attaching it to the lower speedo cable will the the way to go then. The trans is a 6sp Z33.
  19. For those using it, did you connect it to the upper or lower cable? If to the lower cable, did you mount it in the trans tunnel or route the lower cable into the car and mount it under a seat? It seems a clunky kind of way to do this, but I can't come up with another way to run the stock 83 speedo with a transmission that has no built in sensor. thanks, Jared
  20. I think you are correct on that, although I haven't tried it, I'm just going off of memory of the trans and block.
  21. Unfortunately I did not discover this thread until after my installation, so the unit is unopened. If pulling it back out for disassembly is required then so be it.
  22. I had noises both before and after the diff install. Turns out the rear diff mount and both subframe bushings were trashed. Fixed those as well as the control arm bushings while I was back there and it's totally silent now. The diff went right in, no issues until I reinspected everything about a month later and found the lh axle seal leaking. Thinking I might have messed it up when I installed it in the case, I cleaned it all off and while turning the axles to further clean, noticed something odd on that side. The axles both sit the same length into the diff and the snap rings feel fully engaged. However, when turning the drive shaft, the left axle pushes out of the diff slightly, which is what I think is causing the leak, the axle moving away from the sealing surface of the seal. I'm going to investigate further, I hope I don't have to pull the OBX back out and fix something in the side gear.
  23. You could swap the VG30E bellhousing on to it.
