  1. Don’t do it Chaparral2f! Auto parts should not become house hold furniture and appliances. I saved a V12 from becoming a coffee table once. A stack injection becoming a table lamp?!!! Please don’t let it be so. On a reality note. I checked out the Kinsler sight and enquired about a butterfly set up for a V12. The quote was $350 per set of three. Multiply that times four, add some stacks, injector bosses and it’s a lot of money…too much. Yours would be an awesome set up though. You have the hard ware, all you need is the computer and injector bosses. http://www.kinsler.com The conversion wouldn’t be that difficult or “too expensive†say with a megasquirt or other economical management system. Besides, what would Jim Hall say?
  2. Holy sh!t... Hey... somebody had to say it first.
  3. If you talk to anyone who has had water injection and before dissembling their engine that examination reveals very clean combustion areas. The pistons are aluminum clean with out pitting. There is NO rust or carbon traces on the valves head surfaces or ports. You would swear the motor had just been built. I used water in the summer and methanol/water in the cooler months when the throttle blades would freeze up. The reason for the disassembly was a broken valve spring. The motor was a ‘70 454 square port with 12:1 compression.
  4. I had one of these kits on an old big block Chev. It works with a windshield washer motor. I don’t think it would have enough pressure to inject water into a pressurized plenum. I believe something with more substantial pressure is called for. Something like this. http://www.aquamist.co.uk/
  5. I checked out a DMC with the intent of doing a swap. They have the under carriage and engine mounts similar to an early VW bug. Very scary. Nice video though.
  6. Yes welcome back Ztard: I see you have decided to join the cylindrically challenged. I can’t blame you, the wallet does rule after all and the Chevy will give the most HP for the buck. The T56 will not disappoint you. Enjoy!
  7. acetone...time...and a spark free area
  8. Yes sir they have a dizzy. The Britts are some what behind the times. They dumped leaded fuel only a few years back. There was quite the controversy.
  9. Oh oh…here we go. I have this disturbing mental image of dented multi coloured pop cans all over the web sight!
  10. coke...heh heh..I was going to say something but it would just end up a major flame war. I won't go there.
  11. Maybe our sight admin guy can put us on the “other engine†board under Jag six. The Jag six is a wonderful motor that dates back the second word war. It has some history as well. It won a few Lemans races in the late fifties and managed to make Enzo rethink his game. The 4.0L motor has an iron block with aluminum heads. There are racing articles that say the bottom end can take 400hp without modification. The head can easily produce 350 hp in naturally aspirated form with the right cams and headers. The Jag six has more performance items available than the twelve. This should suggest something in itself. It is my thought that a naturally aspirated, Megasquirted fuel injected motor with hi performance cams and headers would provide the Z with a very lively level of excitement. However with deep pockets and an old low compression bottom end, new fuel injection head, turbo(s) and a Megasquirt system, the car would be something else all together. There is some interesting reading on turbo charging the Jag six in a book called Fuel Injection by Jeff Hartman. The author's three-turbo, twelve-injector, six-port nitrous, 3x2-throttlebody Jaguar XKE. The fuelling system has run with both Haltech and NOS EFI control. The enormous Cartech Intercooler (far right) is tilted slightly forward for radiator air flow. TWM throttle bodies have over-and-under injectors, a total of twelve of them on a twin-cam, six-cylinder engine. A Bosch fuel pump located on the bulkhead in the trunk's spare tire compartment, provides plenty of fuel for up to 8OO hp. Note the triple turbo "Heiney Manifold" by Latham Race Cars, Austin, Texas. Hey Matt: The critical measurement will be the length. Motor rad and fan all have to fit. If you put the rad out front then you might not have room for your intercooler later. You can find a bell housing here. http://www.longrun.com/parts/parts.htm Ok Matt…Get to work!
  12. The ne z adventure sure sounds like a possibility. Keep us informed. You might pass more gas stations Matt, but the veiw always changes for the guy in front... 8)
  13. Congratulations Chaparral2f: I know what you mean. Some of these posts have a learning curve attached to them. Pardon the pun. A little more difficult for us in the Pepsi generation!
  14. Oh God were to start… The car is way too heavy. I intend to lighten the frame some. I can change that big spring to a fibreglass unit. An aluminum fuel cell. I was going to change the rear hatch to a GRP and polycarbonate combination, but a trip up to Showcars changed my mind rather quick. That guy has nothing in stock and can’t find his moulds. Completely check out the front end. I spent this evening going through some old threads on Willwood brake kits for the front….I am now more confused than ever. I would like to combine them with my Camaro rotors. My steering rack is sloppy…I might go for rebuilt stock or try the Subaru set up. But first I am plan to install some performance Iski cams that I have had on the shelf for a few years. They go in easy but adjusting the lash takes a long time. Then there is reprogramming the fuel map after the install yadda yadda yadda. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, all you dads can relate to this, my kids have grown up and are moving out on their own. Now with out the fear of bicycles, hockey nets/sticks, base balls/bats flying cats, falling snow shovels and all the other sorts of unaccounted for airborne sports and gardening paraphernalia, I can paint my car and live in peace. Aaaaaaahhh
  15. Oh yes the memories of the barbs we all get when the car is reduced to this state. Someone hand me a number, V12Z is jackstand racing untill spring.
  16. Hey Matt: Did your car backfire or something?
  17. That looks awesome! It's definetly red. Love the wheels too. Just something about a Z or a GTO on wires.
  18. Tell me if I am wrong , but don’t you need an adapter of some sort to make the old tacs work with the MSD 6AL? How much are the adapters?
  19. Well before anyone cashes in their air miles I should remind them that I have some Jackstand racing of my own to do. I have a list that will last me until summer. New paint is in order too.
  20. Hey Dan: Not just for anyone, but you are one of the top, respected members on this sight...for sure!
  21. Hi Tim: Do you have any tubular plans like this for the front end as well? This is an area requiring attention on mine. I could use some ideas.
  22. Hey Matt: Glad you enjoyed the ride...
  23. I am truly saddened by your lack of consideration of a motor with more cylinders. There are more motors out there you know. Now I’m not going to name names, however I truly wish you would reconsider. I must go and find my hanky to wipe away my tears…sniff... Cheers…:::Glenn PS: Go with the big cubes!
  24. wow...A pubie on the keyboard dosen't seem al that bad now...
  25. I have been looking at the Canon EOS line as well. I have an AT-1 I bought in the 80's with all the lenses. It would be nice if they worked with the new EOS. http://www.canoneos.com/
