  1. I did all of the body work and hand sanded the car. I did not see it prior to painting, so really do not know how much more sanding they did. One of the owners races a circle track car, so you might want to talk racing to him.
  2. I got my Z painted at Grand Prix on Indian School. It is better than job than Maico but is not show quality. The car is a driver. But they did treat me well and were concerned that I was happy with the job. For $550 I got what I paid for. http://www.thenewgrandprix.com/
  3. I had a major change of occupations due to my back injury. Went back to school and got an engineering degree and I was in my 40s. So you can do it. Look at getting some AutoCAD classes or something like that. Designers are now making decent money. Look at it this way, you are now looking at a brand new adventure.
  4. Slownrusty I work as an engineer in Prudhoe Bay Alaska. 3 weeks in Paradise, Alaska, 3 weeks off in Hell, Arizona.
  5. It has warmed up here today to -15° F, -31° F with the wind chill, It's a lovely winter day in the Artic. Looks like we have the same amount of snow on the ground. Hang in there yours will melt in a week or so, mine will be here until May.

    Big SU's?

I really think that you will not gain a lot without changing the intake manifold. I would look at triple SUs like the E type Jags had. But that is just my opinion. The stock manifold was designed to flow the max stock carb flow. The large carb could only flow what the down stream manifold will allow.
  7. Check out this little engine all 108,920 hp and 5,608,312 lb/ft of torque http://people.bath.ac.uk/ccsshb/12cyl/
  8. The simplest way to do this is to mount a supercharger and Jag SU like what TR6 people are doing. Do a search on the internet.
  9. Here is a link to what I did for under $11. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111359&highlight=lights They snapped right in.
  10. What Bad things did you hear on the M62? I have one for my 260z webers forced induction that I want to put on. I am looking at using an Ford Lightning aftermarket lower pulley that will meet the ratio that I need. You might want to look for a machine shop and have them machine a lower pulley for you.
  11. From what I have found get a TR7 top an have it modified. That is what I am planning on doing. I have the TR7 frame but haven't got around to doing the mod. From your picture it appears that you will not have very much angle on the rear window.
  12. L5 S1 Lower Back, Had to give up pipe welding and am now a Mech Engineer. Did not get surgery on my back. I have to watch what I do and how long or I pay for it. I do feel better if I do my Back exercises. As said before "Watch Your Back" it only takes an instant for a life time of pain.
  13. Do a search. There is info on using Camaro front hubs & rotors on a Z. The rears will have to be done with adapters.
  14. I used the perfect gas formula. PV/NRT=PV/NRT get rid of the NRT on both sides and PV=PV V/V= Comperssion ratio or change in volume. 14.7 is the absolute pressure at sea level Gauge pressure is PSI - 14.7 So 14.7x CR = PSI in cylinder-14.7 is what you get in your compression gauge.
  15. Velocity Stacks reduce the turbulence at the mouth of the intake. Using engineering factors a square edge is around .65 and a velocity stack is around .98 with a 1 being no flow loss.
  16. You do not have enough antifreeze in your truck. It is probably the radiator froze up. This happened to me 40 years ago in Big Bear Calif. I blew a radiator hose in my FJ40 and was able to fix it on the side of the road. Got some water out of a stream and refilled the system. The drove a couple of miles and the thing started to overheat and boil over. I added some more water to it and put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator and made it home just fine. Drained the water when I got home and refilled with antifreeze and didn’t have another problem. Also sometimes when it gets real cold a thermostat will stick closed causing the same problem. Hope you are enjoying the snow in Bellingham, I used to live there.
  17. Just a quick look at the 90 psi per cylinder. A L28 TURBO with a P90 head has 7.38 to 1 compression ratio acording to the Lengine program. With 7.38 CR the cylinder should have around 94 psi on a test from my calculation. I would do a pressure test on the cooling system to start with.
  18. You have to look at the HP required to run the AC compressor and compare to the HP gain. There is also the flow looses in boost pressure going through the second intercooler. It has to assumed that you would run a air to air intercooler to get the initial temp drop and the second intercooler with AC to get the temp lower. It seams that the simplest way would have both the AC and intercooler in a water baths with a pump circulating the water between them. Nothing is free you have do an energy balance to see if the added expected output is more than the HP losses. I think if AC could boost the HP on a turbo car Porsche and the rest of the turbo race teams would use them.
  19. From the chart you can see about the flow loss for 100 ft of pipe. 400 CFM is equal to 8K RPM on a L28. This is just a go by to see around how much flow loss you can expect and is not going to be exact. Sizing Intercooler Piping Chart Pressure drop in a 100 ft pipe with compressed air entering at 100 psig can be found in the table below: Pressure drop in 100 ft pipe (psi) Free Air Inflow Volume Flow at Standard Conditions (SCFM) Nominal Pipe Size - schedule 40 (inch) 400 CFM Pipe Size PSI Loss 1 = 32.2 1 1/4 = 3.6 2 = 1.0 02 1/2 = 0.4 3 = 0.1
  20. Wouldn't it be a lot easier to get a 2" glass pack muffler and install a shell around it. The fabrication time would sure be a whole lot less.
  21. One thing that I have is and old office desk. It is one of the big old metal ones. I took the legs off and added wheels. I can roll it around it will hold an engine block and I can roll it out of the way when not needed. Most of the time you can find them for around 10 to 20 bucks and where can a set of drawers for that.
  22. I am working slowly. oh so slowly, on a triple SK Racing, weber clones, with supercharger project. Do a search this has been discussed. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=96875&highlight=GT-240 GT-240 was discussing removing his blow through turbo set up a while back, you might want to send him a message an see if he still has it.
  23. 2000 Mustang Yellow, it is bright and does not need to be clear coated.
