  1. Well i'm leavin' here on the friday (20th) so if you come across any address or info let me know through PM please and i'll plug it into the GPS and head down on the Saturday or Sunday. Unfortunately i'm not bringing the Z but i'd still like to hit up a local Car Show if that's going on. This trip just got that much better!
  2. Oh forgot to mention, 24.
  3. Sorry for the Zombie thread, used the search Just to confirm, there's no issue with drilling through the backing rod on the pedal?
  4. Ah, missed that post. Thank you very much. Feel like a bit of a n00b. lol.
  5. Wow, suprised to see a bunch of guys with cars older than them like me. Didin't expect it to be low 20's at all.
  6. ^ I'd like to know the date too, i'm going to be on vacation in Little River, SC the last couple weeks of March. If there's a car show i'm there! This is a dream build! Could only wish to overhaul my Z like that someday. Right now it's just maintainance and mods to enjoy it. But ideally (if money were no object) i'd love to do a build like this on it. Excellent work. Gonna be watching this one for sure...
  7. Put your feet up, crack a beer and for crying out loud don't touch ANYTHING!
  8. I just did that last summer and it only cost me $8,000 Canadian to buy into it and i've maybe got $11-12K total into the car with maintenance/mods.
  9. ^ nah i've got a daily update on it. It's around $1.00 CAN is equal to $0.80-0.82 USD
  10. Agreed on the paint nonsense. I didn't think it was close to worth that. I mean they just don't seem to be a very "collectable" car. I had always wanted a Z and eventhough it's ten years older than I am, the car was on my "to own" list. So I pulled the trigger and i'm glad I did. But never did I think it was collectable. It's more the type of car you buy to beat like a red headed stepchild for fun on weekends.
  11. Yeah i'm a dumbass I did the euqation wrong and added instead of subtracting. I'm runnin' on long days. Wow, I feel retarded. Gonna edit that post hahaha!
  12. I found this ad on a local classified, it's out in BC and looks like a great restoration but still the price... By the way, that's Canadian, so in American it's around $25,000. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1971-Datsun-240Z-W0QQAdIdZ103955618
  13. Touching on this without starting a new thread, I have a set of Koni adjustable rear shocks from back when my dad owned a 72 240Z. They are in mint shape, been in the garage as my mom wrote the car off after someone pulled out in front of her before he had a chance to install them. I have an early 74 260Z. These shocks should fit my 260 correct? I intend on measuring them when I pull the old ones out but i'm just curious as to save myself some trouble.
  14. Wow! Unbelievable how demolished the car is. It'd be interesting to see crash footage from the outside of the car (although i'm sure there's none). Good to see the driver walked away.
  15. I've heard of some poly being too "rigid" for some people's taste and some have mentioned issues with using them in items like strud rod supports. I haven't had a problem and I have all poly from the firewall forward in my car and I have all the bushings to do the rear-end before spring comes. I keep a close eye on everything though so i'm not worried about it. I got a polyurethane kit for the entire car. What problems could you foresee with them being in contact with the body?
  16. Well, the first things to get yourself back on track to health physically and mentally would be what fuels you. So eating right, exercise, good social balance etc. will help you greatly in staying motivated. Getting started will be the hardest part but if you make it a routine everything else will fall into place. If you sit around feeling upset and sorry for yourself life will pass you by and you'll only feel worse. If you occupy yourself your mind will naturally stray away from the negative. Think of how you treat your body this way: You wouldn't put diesel oil and cheap fuel in your Z so why put it in your body? Eat right and get healthy to help your body heal. Once you get yourself straightened out that way and motivated you can then start to tackle the bigger things. The Z is the least of your worries at the moment. Surround yourself with good friends and a positive atmosphere, find some sort of exit. I also found myself to be lacking in the motivation I used to have. A friend of mine mentioned that he'd been Vitamin B12 deficient which made him "lazy" so to speak as he didn't ever have energy to do anything. After getting a B12 shot from his doctor annually he's been much better. I started taking B12 Vitamins and I found it helped. Whether it's just a placebo as a mental thing or not it worked. So, something else to consider but it also goes hand in hand with diet. I'm only 24 but i've put my body through hell having raced Motocross for 10+ years and suffered various injuries and brutal crashes. So I know what you mean about daily pain. I have a shouler out of alignment, very little cartiledge left in my one knee, I blew every tendon/ligament and fractured some main bones in my ankle in my later teenage years. That stuff never really goes away. After a while of ignoring it and staying active though you sort of forget it's there. If you ever need anyone to talk to just PM me. I'm that guy that all my friends and even people I barely know seem to turn to for a talk or advice. I'm just approachable I guess.
  17. I just got my Weatherstrip kit from MSA a couple days ago. I'd ordered a bunch of parts last summer (July) and had to split my order up to get the Datsun finished up and on the road last year. I had them send up everything they had in stock i'd ordered (wheel cylinders was the main thing I needed at the time. And then just this past week my Weatherstrip kit, MOMO Pedals, and headlight trim rings were shipped. So that's what 6+ months? Why the rush to have one right away?
  18. It's kinda what you make of it. Most of the options are pretty ugly, but you can combine a few things and make it look alright. Like there's only one semi-decent spoiler i'd consider using, the rest are horrible. It's still fun though, the gameplay and storyline make it worthwhile. And the "go anywhere in L.A." atmosphere is cool.
  19. A vinyl I just finished replicating John Morton's BRE car. Yeah, winters are boring up here in Canada lol! And one for the forum:
  20. I've got an LSD and a 5spd in my 74. It does the sideways thing pretty good, but as far as competition grade I won't know until I boost it. (not enough power to smoke the tires off it continually. This should be a good project to watch though. Best of luck with it. I think if you could re-work the steering it'd help a ton as mentioned. I know a lot of people will try and talk you out of it, but i'm sure it's a good place to start and learn anyway. And good on ya for straying away from the S13 and Trueno crowd.
  21. Lower strut support rod bushings? I had a bit of a wander which turned into a vibration of the wheel above 55mph. Turned out to be the rod bushing on the pass side.
  22. I forgot the gas cap on my parent's Cherokee when I was like 12 or 13 (first time ever pumping gas). Ever since then and the hassle it was to get another one i've never forgotten it.
