  1. Yeah unless you've got a rotisserie, sand blaster, good welder and some skills i'd be runnin' away from that one. I know Z's are tough to come by in decent shape up here, but I came across much better examples when I was searching.
  2. ^ Not to offend anyone else because I know there are a lot of works in progress on this site and my car is nothing to brag about: But that 2 + 2 is one that I ACTUALLY like! I'm not normally a fan of the 2 + 2, the odd one catches my eye. But that one just looks great!
  3. What solid state flasher are you guys using? Are they all basically the same?
  4. I have the MSR casings form Motorsport (are they Autopal's? I don't remember the boxes are in the garage). Anyway they aren't amazing but they aren't horrible for quality either. I mean you get what you pay for I guess, so for the price they are what they are. But the G-nose on my car isn't helping with how effective my lighting is at all. So i'm looking for another option, that's where the projectors come in.
  5. Yeah I really hope it doesn't fold. I've been following the WRC as long as I can remember.
  6. Not a big fan of the Rims either. The proportions of them are good, just not the spokes (although i'm not really a fan of 5 spokes). Those front turn signals are different! Wonder where they're from? The taillights aren't doing anything for me. The rest of the car is pretty close to perfect though. Very clean.
  7. I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Great stories guys 'n girls, keep 'em coming!
  8. I'm confused... If the O.P. is boasting about how effective his JET HOT COATED HEADERS are at reducing engine temps, why is he asking if he needs a heat shield if he's just gonna rip apart the responses? Sometimes people on "teh Interwebz" make no sense to me. They ask a question and when they don't get the answer they wanted get all pissed off. Or in this case make absolutely no sense. I'm still trying to figure out if the O.P. was making a statement or asking a question??? O.P.: If you're so knowledgable on the subject why aren't you telling us that you do or don't need it?
  9. Yeah it'd be nice to have money for shool and a nicely modded Z with the coin from selling the 240 IMO.
  10. Also, if you don't want to hear other people's opinions (good or bad) on things don't air your info on the internet. If you're not ready to hear your idea is bad, your body kit looks like ♥♥♥♥ or anything else negative then i'd suggest keeping to yourself. The 'net isn't just a place to show off what you've done. It's to share ideas, form opinions and help each other out. If all you're worried about is what makes YOU happy, why post it on the internet at all?
  11. Wow, Jt1 I think you took Blakt Out's posts out of context. He was merely suggesting that an early VIN S30 is more collectable than some of the other generic later Z's. I don't see how that was so bad or anything worth getting pissed off about. He even said in the middle of his post along the lines of not being able to necessarily sway the OP. It was merely a suggestion that he may have something of value on his hands. Similar to someone having a painting they're about to toss in a yardsale for $2 and a more experienced person comes along and says "hey that's a Picaso and could be worth X amount of dollars." It's an opinion and I don't see how he's wrong for saying it. He never said he's "better" than anyone else or doing his Z the right way. It was a suggestion which was echoed by a few members on here, myself included. But hey what would I know, i'm just the new guy.
  12. Yeah I never thought i'd say it either but it's one Hyundai that's caught my eye. Girlfriend needs a replacement soon, might be a good excuse to pick one up. The ONLY thing i'm not crazy about on this car's styling (but doesn't ruin the car for me) is the little dip on the quarter glass just behind the door.
  13. In for updates on this. That looks great! I plan on ditching the G-Nose on my car when I strip it down, blast it and restore it. (Unless I pick up the other early 260Z i've been eyeing up. Then i'll have another money pit to put this on instead.)
  14. Very true. It's a common mistake a lot of rookie MIG welders make with not using enough heat to penetrate the weld. I mean with parts it's pretty simple to see how much heat is transfered to the back side of the material. The biggest problem I usually see with people just learning to weld is anything at a 90 degree angle. By this I mean welding the seam of two pieces perpendicluar to each other like the bi-sect of an "L". Where nozzle angle is most important and usually the majority of the weld is on one piece or the other and very flat. Biggest thing as with anything is just practice I guess. I've got a 220V MIG, wish I had a TIG but I don't. Finished a MIG course last spring been considering taking a TIG course.
  15. Sorry wingenOut for the hi-jack. Feel free to ask a mod to delete the posts if you like, thanks for the info guys.
  16. Ah thanks guys. I've noticed yours J. Soileau in the past, but not a write-up on it. Good info for sure, much appreciated. Something i'll have to look into fabbing.
  17. Does anyone make a true Projector that could be modified to fit an H4 housing for the Z? I'm not interested in having huge glare but the H4's I have right now are useless on the high beam setting (and no it's not the aim). They aren't bad on low beam but the cutoff to the sides is brutal. If i'm on a dark backroad making a 90 degree turn it's hard to find the ditches as the lights don't project far enough out to the sides. I find the shape of the Z's bezel area really limits the car's ability to put out decent light. The face that mine has a G-Nose on it doesn't help at all either. I've thought of putting some fogs on it but need to find a decent lower valence to make it look right. Anyway, sorry to hi-jack (not my intent) but just wondering if anyone's come across true projectors?
  18. I caught wind of this story on the News up here tonight. They mentioned the "hero" may now be up on charges for stealing the van. Whether there's any truth to that or it's just the media doing its typical sensationalizing I have no way of knowing.
  19. Wow. You'd be crazy to cut that car up or swap. It's probably worth a good buck as it sits as already mentioned. You'll kick yourself down the road. If nothing else hold onto the damn thing and let it appreciate in value and find another car to hack up later on. These guys aren't lying, it's a good investment (rare to find the words good investment and car in the same sentence). Anyway, as said you can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink. I have a 260Z with the L26 in it. Triple webers, cam, header, 5spd swap and a R200 rear diff. The car is a blast to drive and I plan to change the ignition in the near future to complete the package. I've toyed with the idea of doing an L28ET swap or RB26 but even with my mundane 74 Z I think I just want to leave it somewhat "period correct" and find a different example to build. As said you can have a ton of fun in this car with around 200HP. And at a young age i'm not so sure it's smart to have more than that in a 2300lb car at your disposal. I know we don't all have ample amounts of money to do so (i'm 24 so I understand where you're coming from, a mortgage on a house doesn't make things any easier) but I feel you'll kick yourself down the road if you change this car. Just lookin' out for ya. That's what everyone's here for, advice.
  20. How big is this show? Is it in an indoor show in a convention centre or more of a generic outdoor show? Come onnnn March. Can't wait to get away from this damn snow!
  21. I'm looking to replace the Honda CRX seats that are in my car. I'll be watching this thread. I was looking at Corbeaus recently but I do like the Sparco's posted by the OP.
  22. Awesome guys! We're thinking of hitting up the car show once I get forwarded a few more details on it. It's the weekend we arrive. These are great suggestions! Keep them comin'! If nothin' else they'll score me brownie points with the lady and maybe she won't get pissy if I shell out some extra coin on the Z! hahaha!
  23. One thing i've learned from owning and working on the Datsun and many Jeeps; apparently i'm a glutton for punishment
  24. Spawned by the "How old are we" thread. How'd so many young 20 somethings end up with cars 10+ years older than them? Post your age and your reasons for your Datsun purchase. At 24 for me the Datsun has just always been that realisitic dream car. I've always been the definition of a "car guy". I can tell you what car is behind me at night based on the headlights and what's approaching based on taillights. I've always worked on my own vehicles and when I was a kid as soon as I could walk I never left the house without a hot wheels car clenched tightly in each fist. Combine that with the stories my parents used to tell me about the 240Z they owned way back when. Dad was always avid about how well it handled and few cars he'd driven compared. I've always fawned over such vintage cars as the 68-69 Camaro of course the 66 Cobra, Chevelles, a Sunbeam Tiger is high on the list, maybe even a 70 Monte Carlo with the 454. But few cars ever seemed realistic due to the price point and the cost of putting fuel through them alone would bankrupt you. So recently I found myself wanting to stray away from the lifted Jeeps for toys. I've owned and modified a few of them. Having raced motocross for over a decade I desperately wanted to pick up a crotch rocket (the Honda RC51 in particular *drool*). But being that I didn't want to be selfish (or dead) I opted to pick up a sports/fun car so the girlfriend (who I own a house with) and I could take off on weekends together. The search criteria was pretty simple. It had to be 2dr, manual, RWD and not unrealistic on fuel. So this killed the muscle car idea. In my search I looked at newer 240SX's all of which were rotted or had the crap driven out of them along with many other cars. I then tried to hunt down a Datsun. And lucky me the timing was right and I came across the one I bought. Now a good friend of mine is shopping for a street bike again for spring and there's a good deal on a RC51 for me. I'm really biting my tongue to keep from buying it hahaha.
