  1. 700 HOURS:shock: I'd be surprised if I have that much time in all of my body work. Wow. That's incredible, but believeable with the unlimited products hood lol. As far as the advertiser's go I'm not sure. I do know that johnc on the board owns beta motorsports and sells fiberglass and carbon fiber hoods though. I haven't seen his products in person but from what I've seen in pics they are top notch, as well as any of his products. That car has come a long way. Kudos to you sir. I can't wait to see pics of the whole car after final assembly. Hell you kicked my ass in terms of build time, I started mine in 2003 and didn't get it road worthy until late 2008
  2. I've actually got the unlimited stock style fiberglass hood. I haven't been too happy about the fit and finish quality. I've actually been thinking about getting the stock hood painted and put it back on. How was the fit on the 2" cowl? Is it a pin on or does it bolt to the stock hinges? I've been lookng at forward facing scoops but don't know that I want to deal with getting caught in the rain with it.
  3. oh no... not this again... you made my next 24 hours much less productive
  4. No plans for another for a while, lol. This one was hard enough on the wallet. I was looking at your engine pic. Is that a super victor intake? Curious if you managed to get that filter under the stock hood somehow. I ask because that's the intake I have and at the moment I'm using something akin to a riding lawnmower air filter on my carb for hood clearance reasons. I need to experiment with some dropbase filters and such. I know you're not using the JTR mounts like I am but thought I'd ask anyways. If I had to guess you probably have a cowl hood though.
  5. Thanks for the kind words, and likewise on your car. I kind of wish I would have went with a louder color like your red. Guess I'll just have to build another Z. lol
  6. Very clean engine bay. I like your routing of the trans cooler lines through the frame rail. I might have to do that next time my engine is out.

  8. I regret not sanding and buffing my car sooner. But here I am 5+ years after painting the car and it looks awesome. I've got about a third of the car done so far. Front fender Untouched... lots of orange peel. Driver's door sanded and buffed. In other news, I just ordered up some coilover sleeves and perches from A-1 Racing Products and looking for springs either through summit or ebay. Price wise it should come out a little bit cheaper than buying the ground control kit if i buy new springs and considerably cheaper if I can score some used ones. Either way my current Tokico Lowering springs should be up for sale shortly. I have a spare set of front struts, so I already started chopping off the stock perches. The other day I finished up grinding the rear fender lips, and in the process of tightening the lug nuts, the suspension still in the air, I managed to rip apart the strut isolator with a minimal amount of torque. Luckily I had a spare pair of isolators, so it was quickly remedied. pics of carnage....
  9. here is a list of the more common 5 lug arrangements. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=151555
  10. yeah... the only reason I used them was because they were free. They look ok for the price, but not my ideal setup at all.
  11. I agree... working on it. I've always thought the tokicos never seemed leveled out. Ordering coil overs soon. Then, just need to save up for some mr2 struts for sectioning the front. In the mean time... Hooray for photoshop again... lol.
  12. that isn't even possible... the 5x4.5 and 4x4.5 lug patterns only share one common lug. and.... I'm sure it's just to move the car around.
  13. On another note..... I think phils car would benefit from some photoshop lowering....
  14. If you were in Texas I would buy you a beer.
  15. You could probably just call it "280z with 240z front." There really isn't much that is different. It's just the bumper and turn signals. Never heard anyone try and shorten it.
  16. Your engine bay heater hose routing doesn't look right. where are the hoses going to, at the front of the engine bay?
  17. If I remember right I think the Yellow ZX is or was owned by vinhzxt who is still around here. yep it was vinh's car... looks like it is no more as of 12/07 according to his cardomain page.... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/721840
  18. I have heard of people having issueswith older ones. Specifically if they recorded until the sd card is completely filled, it will corrupt the file and make it unreadable. I haven't heard of people having the same issue with the newer HD versions though. I don't know if that is the problem here but just an FYI.
  19. I bought some new tires that were on closeout through Tirerack.com. The pair cost $165 after shipping. original price would have been $135each + shipping. I found out that Yokohoma Es100 tires run WIDE. My old Kumho tires are roughly 9.5inches wide and these new Yokohamas are a little over 10" wide. They are the same tire size,(245/45/17), they just run wider than the Kumhos. Here's a pic of the meaty new tires...... So I need to do a little bit of clearancing. I'm cutting a little bit of the fender lip off and I stll might need Coilovers to get these things to fit without rubbing.... an upgrade I was planning anyways, so not too big of a deal. I cut off nearly 3/16" of the lip without touching the welded portion of the lip. I tried not to cut too far and mess up the integrity of the panel by cutting a piece of welded area. Well here's a pic of the uncut lip..... and the cut lip. (I still need to do some grinding to smooth out the jagged edges.) Merry Christmas!!!!
  20. Merry Christmas from Texas...... we actually got some snow in dallas... so I celebrated....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZWmEkuhp5w
  21. Lower dash panel installed. got it from member Aziza z the other day. Received full set center caps shipped from member The240zProject today. I had one installed previously but finally got a matching set. They are for the Iron Cross style wheels but with some minor tweaking they fit snugly in the center of my bullitt wheels.
  22. I recently recovered some pics off of my old computer and found a bunch of random pics that I had thought I had lost. Some more pics of when I first saw the car at the junk yard circa 2003. Some old "in progress" pictures Sound deadener removal and POR-15 Before I butchered the Spare tire well lol Once upon a time this was the reason this thread was titled "280zt" haha Miata Seat and sound deadening And now.... Current pics taken at a photo studio a couple weeks ago.
  23. His car appears to be a 280z , judging by the dash so the bracket he is looking for is the following.... Its not in the greatest shape in this pic(rusty piece) but gives you an idea.
  24. I still need to box in the battery. It's been on my list of"things to do" for a while. The 7 dzus fasteners are kind of a bitch but they work for the time being and are decently quick to pop out. Your set up came out nicer looking than mine. Looks great!
