  1. It just some fabricated duct work that directs air flow to the radiator. I know there are tons more pics of this car somewhere, but am not sure if there is a write up of any sort. That is a hybridz member's car though. I just don't remember his screen name.
  2. Mine might qualify as an aggressive looking set up.... dunno... The shifter is a B&M prostick attached to a 700r4. I, too, wanted something stock looking. I managed to hide most of the shifer under the stock manual shift boot and used the ring that originally held down the rubber shift boot as a base that I welded a center section to and bolted the shifter to that. I melted/molded a small protion of the center console to allow the cable to pass through freely (hardly noticable if done carefully). I made a small slit for the reverse lockout lever(red lever in first pic) to pass through. You'd be surprised how many people mistake it for a manual transmission. Probably partly cause I left the clutch pedal in and ziptied it to the firewall.(I plan to go manual trans eventaully.
  3. Those pictures are all too familiar. I wrapped my 76 in the exact same spot around a light pole but in the rain. I did it with stock l28 power though. I hope to hear the driver got out unscathed like I did. I think my car sustained slightly more damage cause the pole didn't budge in my incident....
  4. If you cut out all of the letters individually and flipped a couple of them horizontally and vertically I think you could make it all recessed..... It would be a hell of a lot of work getting them lined up and contoured correctly though.
  5. I'm having a hard time liking this idea. I think it would just look tacky, but maybe I'm biased to a smooth rear. hehe With that said, I would love for you to prove me wrong.
  6. Sorry about taking so long to answer this question. The wheels are off a 2001 mustang gt. I think the offset is 30mm but my memory might be a little rusty. You also have to take in to account that i have 300zx hubs up front that push out the wheels in the front and make this combo fit. In the rear I have a small 3/8" spacer. Also, a tire size of 245/40/17 comes in at roughly 24.7" Like I said before, I have no tire rub, but I haven't been on the track with this set up.
  7. I think when johnc is saying "sqaure" he is only talking about tire width and not anything as far as track width.
  8. I'm 23. My sister's ex boyfriend at the time had a 280zx. I saw it. I liked it. I looked up old datsuns and found the s30. I immediately fell in love. Then i found out about dropping v8's in their light chassis.... I fell in love some more. I got my 76 280 for $4000 at 16. It had fresh paint, nice white interior, and the stock 6. I drove it for about 8 months while upgrading the suspension and cleaning up the engine bay with much help solely from this website. I read A LOT more than I posted(still do). Then I proceeded to wrap it around a pole during a storm. Within 7 months I picked up my second 280z, a 1978. This one was in no where near the shape the first one was. Purchased it for $500 and essentially tore it down to nothing. Put on all the suspension from the first one and did all the body work and painted it. Then it sat for 4 years while I was at college where I read more and more on hybridz since the car was 4 hours away. I finished school, got home, and threw a V8 in it. That 16 year old's pipe dream of a v8 powered Z car came to fruition last September when I first got to drive it on public roads.
  9. I don't have any issues at all. I have 245/45/17 on all four corners. They are kumho ecsta asx in the front and sumitumo htr z III in the rear now. Different tire brands run wider than others so that should be taken into account when purchasing tires. My sumitumos are thinner overall and fit slightly better than the kumho's. Here's a pic that sort of shows the fitment, and there a few more in my build thread too.
  10. I think a 17x9 is absolutely doable in the rear with coilovers and rolled fender lip(like you said, that is what Clifton is running). I am running 17x8 with the stock spring perches and unrolled lips with 245/45/17 tires. The front is where I think you are more likely to run into problems with a 17x9 but it may just squeeze in there. Let me know if you want me to take any pics if that'll help at all.
  11. I had my stock stubs drilled by a local machine shop for just $100. I'm only pushing around ~300-350whp but no issues thus far.
  12. search...... http://www.brokenkitty.com/zcar/order-sheet.htm
  13. From what I have read, don't plan on much night driving with them installed. They make the headlights very dim and you should plan a headlight upgrade of some kind if you plan on installing them. The stock headlights are already relatively dim, and putting "sunglasses" on them are not gonna help the situation.
  14. Yeah. I should have mentioned that it only works with a long water pump. I love it. It tucks the alternator in nicely and makes it all appear a little more compact. I think I have inadvertently "sold" at least 6 of these brackets now. haha Kevin
  15. Thanks. The alternator bracket isn't anything custom, its made by Alan grove components. Its their mid mount bracket. I think speedracer's post right above this has the same bracket actually.
  16. I actually just checked and the application (62-67 chevy II) for these is the same as the S&S header 5205 that has been talked about in at least a few threads. I believe a couple people are either running the 5205 headers currently or have in the past. Those threads may provide some insight depending on how similar the two brands headers are. Pictures would be very helpful though.
  17. 3" collector according to the jegs website http://www.jegs.com/i/Hooker/520/2243/10002/-1
  18. Color is 350z Chrome Silver its a little brighter in natural daylight

  20. I'd definitely be interested depending on price and quality. I'm looking for an alternative to welding in a new roof to get rid of my sunroof. Kevin
  21. Well the weather was perfect today so I cleaned up the Z and took it for a little photoshoot. I am by no means a photographer but this is what I came up with. I will definitely bring a tripod next time. This is my favorite light in the car...... Finally got a tach for the damn car.......
