  1. It is cool, I've played the "prologue" version, sort of a smaller teaser version taht was all in chinese. Can not wait for it to be out...
  2. All i can say is 'good lord man!' That motor is BEEFY! Should be sweet. Wish I could get stuff done so fast on my project. Life is always in the way!
  3. I am in! The ONLY problem I can for see is that there are sooooooo many BA cars, even one's in progress, how ya gonna choose? Lottery?
  4. reminds me of some of my old HOT WHEELS, that would change color with temp.
  5. Work + School = long days, but it pays off. I did it for 9 years. Started out like you, in a machinist votech program as an apprentice working summers and durring the week, got a job and the company paid my tuition to contiunue college. Worked in the shop for about 7 years or so total and got tired of the crap you are talking about, moved into the office to 'make a difference'. Like the others said, it's the same everywhere. The office is just as bad as the shop but I do like my boss better now. I've been with this company for a total of 12 years and I feel that I have contributed alot to change things. It is a very difficult thing to stay optimistic and work hard when many around you are pessimistic and say things like "we've already tried that" and crap like that. You have to get past that and keep trucking, it ain't easy but I guess that is what you deal with working for someone else. Good luck and hang in there!!! So CNC machinists can make 30/hr up there??? It is a union shop? Our shop is non-union (thank god) and we make oil tools, but top guys here make 22 or so max probably. Of course our cost of living is probably lower as well so it may be equal?
  6. Awesome thread! I am a suspension TARD, so I will definitly be reading this one. Keep it up!!!
  7. Very Cool Jeff! Now you can 'Haul' off those headlight buckets! AND see my home theater set up, it's all done, just have to make a table top for my Sub. Gimme a holler.
  8. No one? Well we are leaving out Friday morn around 4am will be back next friday afternoon. I am really looking fwd to hitting the sloaps on my board! Too cool. Probably won't get a chance to hit the site, not that you all would notice Later...
  9. Ah! I wonderded but never got around to trying that way. Crystal, likes me to mess with that stuff when she's NOT watching, go figure
  10. Moderator? Looks like we lost the sticky for this post on the painless to combo thread. Can you reglue this? http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=94822&highlight=painless Thanks!
  11. Well, Iv'e had the samsung for a week now and the ONLY time you can hear the colorwheel is when everything in the house is OFF, including the heater. It sounds like a itty bitty blow dryer and is not noticable, for now. The component 1 inputs are not working right now so I'll have to call about that but everything else is wonderful! JMort, when you got to the set up screen, did you do it with the TV on or off? I couldn't get mine to come on? Jeff, i got it open box for a hair higher than you quoted me but since i bought a new receiver as well, i got them at 30 months 0%, and that is what I was looking for, financing. Once I get the surround all tuned up you will have to come critique my 'self install' and let me know how I did. We finished up the Sub (adire 12" shiva in a ported box, w/ parts express 250W amp), It RoooooooHaaaaaCKS! and I'll give you those head light buckets!
  12. Personally, I would open a fabrication shop not limited to welding, but everything. Cabinetry, Machine work, Welding. You could incorporate stuff into the other fields and truely do one off stuff or prototypes. I also have a very good friend that is an electircal engineer, so he could develop some stuff in that field as well. I would try to set up some small run jobs that would keep $$ flow but allow me enough time to develop some of my own products to sell. Which would be some sort of furniture incorporating steel and wood and also maybe some car parts stuff like JSK does. This is what I would do if I had the balls or enough money that it wouldn't matter if I lost money. Good luck!
  13. Mike, do you have a drill press that uses your hand drill? You may be able to mount that to the block, that would be the only way I can think of doing this accuratly while the block is together. Be creative but make sure what you come up with is stable...dunno, still a bummer situation....
  14. Ok, so what about newer nissans? Got an 01 Altima and a replacment key is over 100 bucks since is has that chip in the key! The key it self is around 40 and the "ACTIVATION" is another 60 or so? Any suggestions?
  15. Mike - How many threads per inch in that hole? How many threads left? I am not sure what I would do, if you are missing a good inch of threads i may look into a size up stud and bolt idea, that sounds strongest. Someone should be able to chime in with a minimum thread 'area' needed to safely hold that ballancer on GRUMPY??? Ferd/289 - Everyone's suggestions on removing taps are good and Jolane makes a very good point, it's just not fun! Depending on what the tap is made of and what the material you are tapping in to, it can be very difficult to remove the tap once broken, and the smaller the tap the more difficult it is to get that little dude out of there. Most of my experience is with carbide taps into inconel (a very high grade SS ) using 1/4-20 taps for set screws. Most of the time we try to chisel them out, by shatering the carbide and hope you can clean the threads out. Tap burners are messy and not very accurate and can easily burn a hole in your part if your not careful so we don't use them too much, but every situation is different.
  16. Just wanted to clarify something, there are NO "interference" fit threads. There ARE thread "FIT" classes, ie: Class 1-4, 1 being Loose, 2 Free, 3 Med, 4 Close but not tight. The class 4 thread movment between the nut and bolt feels almost like a wheel bearing. You can't really spin it, but it easily turns. Any threads that are difficult to tighten are either cheaply mass produced or the wrong size. Mike sounds like the two materials work hardended under the strain of the bolt trying to pull the dampner on and they welded, or a thread gave under the stress. As for a fix, dunno much about helicoils or the Keenserts, have never used either. I would try cleaning the threads with a tap and a LOT of tap oil and see how much of the actual threaded area in the crank is dammaged after you clean, If it is jut the top of 1 or less complete thread I would say you are ok. Most of my back ground on this is from being a machinist for ~7 odd years and breaking taps not bolts but it is all in the same boat, trying to save what your working on. Oh and here is some helpful info on nuts, bolts and threads...http://www.gizmology.net/nutsbolts.htm
  17. Hang with some friends, maybe outside! IT's freaking 70+ degrees here today!
  18. Great! I got mine last night and will have to do the same once I get my new receiver and stuff hooked up.
  19. If by a "YEAR" you mean 2 months, then I'll say the painless kit worked very well. MAS, i posted a couple of months ago all the painless wires (color and number) to your colums various switches. Maybe the post got lost but I think it is a STICKY in the ELECTIRCAL section. Well just looked, it used to be a sticky. See if you can find it by looking through my posts or by searching. It was detailed but if you can't find it I will dig up my word file and re-post it.
  20. Some people complaing about the color wheel spinning at 10k + RPM and the whine it makes. Never noticed at the stores and I have done quite abit a viewing in the last 12 months...
  21. It seems like most of the delay issues can be worked out by settings on the TV if you want to try this. Press Mute+1+8+2+power to get into the service mode, select and enter option SERVICE MODE Select SOUND DELAY and play with that number. I am looking forward to getting the TV,as far as TV stands go, I just completed a built in ET center in my living room. I started a post with pics 3-4 months ago but I saw that my Photo bucket pics have disapeared. I am going to compile some before and after stuff once I get this all set up. I am ready! Thanks for the input. Oh have you had alot of issues with the bulb or the color wheel noise?
  22. Anyone else going to be there by chance? A freind of mine and his dad and I are going boarding for this week, and I just though I would see if anyone else was going to be in the neighborhood to meet up for Z talk, beers or whatever.
  23. Looking at buying a Samsung 50" tv and was wondering if anyone here has one? I have read that some guys are having a lag effect on the video when used with a receiver and surround speakers apposed to the tv speakers. BB has the tv and receiver purchaces @ 30 months no interest. My time has come as will pics of my "excuse" for not working on the Z. The new living room.
